Suggestion: Weekly/Monthly Staff Pay

So, staff do a lot! I know when I've been staff on sites, I end up not being able to play my characters as much as I want. 

I feel like the staff to such a great site should be rewarded. I want to suggest maybe a "Pay" for staff? A normal member could probably get between 10 and 50 posts in a week due to our 100 word post count. So maybe a medium pay of 25 posts and 500 bits per week? Adding up to 100 posts and 2,000 bits per month that they can put towards their characters?

I feel like it'd be more than fair for them to be compensate for the amount of time they give up running events, grading things and generally just being cool.

Personally I don't care, they run the site, if they wanna get paid let em get paid. Regardless, people are going to complain, and moan about it. I'm not saying anyone on site will now, not at all but there will be people who are against it and see it as an unfairadvantagee. Staff non-NPC characters are characters like anyone elses and to some it may not be fair that they get such a boost plus additional post.


Looking ahead: Might just be an issue with some people. 

This could lead to some issues in the future but like I said if they wanna get paid let em get paid.

What additional posts? Despite being staff, they are still members of the site who want to RP. I feel like it's fair considering everything they do and how time consuming it is. Even if it is a hobby, it's still hard work to run a site. 

Personal Opinion: It's only fair to reward them since their RP time is cut into significantly due to staff work.

DISCLAIMER: I think people who moan and complain are generally whiny little shits. You can disagree with staff getting paid, but if you moan and complain about it, you're generally a spoiled little shit.

By all means! Staff work is hard, and I am sure people like Batter, Nymph and Bees know this full well. I see no problem with them getting a little something extra to compensate them not posting as much on their actual characters as long as they are known to be actually working.

I do worry that some people may try and become staff to reap free liquid assets, something that is completely against the point of being staff. Staff members work hard towards helping the site to grow, catering to the needs of both it and it's memberbase. This is just a way for them to get a little "give-me" to compensate for their work. While I am unsure about 25 posts and 500 bits weekly, they do deserve at least something.

(Also I fully agree with Zo in that if you are complaining about people getting free posts, you should also note that the site gives you plenty of oppurtunities to get posts. The Attribute Triad event is a free 20 posts right there, plus we very well may have more events that give a little bonus like this. Not to mention the dungeons and missions also give a tidy bonus, so it's not like you are completely being left at the curb.)

We've something similar on Pokemon Anrui, where rewards are given to staff for meeting a monthly post quota. It's set up by tiers, and hitting the lowest one keeps you safe.

It's really up to Nymph if something like this should be a thing - I don't know why you're asking for normal member input.

We used to have a system like this back when i was staff on another site, the head admin had each staff member link set amounts of work done by each staff member for a reward.

Worked well enough imo, also motivated the lazier staff to do work so it killed 2 birds with one stone

i don't care either way honestly.

if staff sees it as more trouble than it's worth, then i can see why- it might a problem only because some would bitch about it being unfair, even tho its really not

but if they want to get paid, its cool w/ me, they do all the work

I say pay them; I mean they do so much for us. Most sites I have been on you have to wait almost a week to get rewards for your hardwork, but these dedicated staff members get in done usually in 24hrs or less. They deserve it!

I can say with complete honesty that the entire staff team really appreciate this, but I'm voting no: and here's why.

Our MO as staff at Exodus is primarily to run the site well and ensure it's liquid and fluid and there's always stuff for you guys to do. I appreciate that obviously so many of you think we're doing a good enough job that you feel we should be rewarded for it. That's great! However, we promote another few virtues in the staff team and try and run by them as well.

One of these is promoting notions of equality. We want you guys to understand we're humans too: and all of you so far seem to get that perfectly. Creating a divide and a kind of pseudo-superiority between members and staff can often breed a kind of superior feeling subconsciously and create problems. We're people, we're RPers -- we're also just community helpers if that makes sense. Sure; we run things, we're giving you things to do -- and things we hope you want to do -- but to be rewarded for it does also kind of indicate a gap between the member and staff status.

Of course there is one: it's hard for there not to be one. But I personally think that to reinforce the kind of personal relationship we like to have with staff & members (hence why we do stuff, joking around, censoring names, etc) paying staff could turn out to be a step in the wrong direction.

Additionally I think RPing and staff work should be compartmentalised: our IC characters shouldn't gain because of what's happened OOC and completely irrelevantly. Though I suppose a lot of our OOC gifts/events/rewards are arguments against that, so it keeps going back and forth.

Tl;dr: I really appreciate the gesture, and that so many of you are in support of it, but don't myself think it should happen.
