After the Events of the Skullgreymon Attack...The damage was devastating and heart-breaking to see for those who had witnessed it. Though the threat that was Skullgreymon and the hoard of Skullknightmon posed to the city were defeated, the wounds of that battle was still fresh. A housing district of the city was desolated by the attack of the digimon. Many digimon were left without homes, and several destroyed. As the city began to make the attempt to rebuild, a pair watched up in the distance just on the outskirts of the city. Zachary and Panthermon stood there, overlooking the scene. Both looked on with resolve in their eyes. The day before, back in the real world....
"Panthermon... we should go back," Zachary said suddenly while inside his room, " Back to the digital world." Panthermon, the black panther-like digimon, raised his head as he was sitting on Zachary's bed. " For what reason?" the cat asked, curious by Zachary's sudden change in demeanor. The cat had noticed Zachary's solemn attitude since the Skullgreymon battle. So was Panthermon upset with the result of the fight, despite the destruction of the evil digimon. Zachary stood up from his chair and looked at the computer, the portal for which they used to enter the Digital World. " I know we did our best to fight off that thing, and thought we could barely make a difference... I can't leave things as we have. We should go back, to see if we can help those digimon. They don't have homes or lost family. We should be there. We may not be strong as the others that helped, but that doesn't mean our powers can be used to just fight. We should see what we can do to help rebuild their homes. Its the right thing to do," he explained. Panthermon blinked at the look of resolve in Zachary's eyes. He had not seen him like that since they got struck by the dark mark. While the cat was still unnerved by it and tried to ignore it, Zachary worked to push past it. Back in the present..." Let's go, Panthermon," Zachary said with confidence as he made his way down the hill. With a nod and growl of acknowledgement, the cat followed his partner, striding along the tall grass towards the destroyed wall of the city and to the housing area now flattened. The trek down the hill and past the broken wall didn't take long as they got their view of 'half' of Triton city. It was a beautiful city, the part that wasn't destroyed. For now though, as they entered the city, they could see digimon already trying to rebuild that part of the city as well as the wall. Gotsumon were collecting rocks to help rebuild the wall, Gekomon using shovels to clear debris, Gorillamon hauling huge beams of wood and steel. Many digimon were hard at work. It wasn't till a small little Tsunomon came bouncing by, did they go notice. The little digimon with the horn on his head looked to the pair. "Hey! Who are you two? " the little digimon replied, hoping up and down almost energetically. Zachary and Panthermon exchanged looks to one another, and then turned back to Tsunomon. " Hey there, little guy. We came cause we wanted to help rebuild the parts of Triton City that were destroyed. " Zachary explained with a modest bow of his head. "Oh? That's great! Super great!" the little digimon said cheerfully. "We could use some extra hands-- you know for those who don't have hands." Zachary would of laughed at that, since Tsunomon literally had no hands. The little digimon turned to the clearing nearby. "Go talk to Redveggiemon. He will assign you your tasks," he said. As they got there, they found a large platform with a single digimon on it. He had some kind of microphone horn wrapped up in his 'tentacle arm' and through it, shouted at different digimon to instruct them on their tasks. As Zachary and Panthermon approached, the Redveggiemon put on an ugly scowl and snarled down at them. "And just who the hell are you?" he asked angrily. " We came to help with the reconstruction," Panthermon answered calmly, despite the digimon's bad mood. ( OOC NOTE: Everyone is free to join. Tasks here will be for doing anything related in the efforts of providing aid, reconstruction and helping the little digimon around rebuild the damaged part of the city. Thank you and let's have fun here )

Triton Clean Up
Having finished off the Skullknightmon and been marked by the evil skeleton and it hadn't gone unnoticed, yet it felt benign. So the male had his focus elsewhere as he would look to his tired digimon and smile. Walking over he'd hug them and smile, yet their work was far from done.
"Alright you two, nice work. But our job isn't over time to continue this game of heroism. We will check on the guards and see what the damage from those missiles had done."
As they made their way over the trio would arrive soon to the resort like area. The damage had become apparent, a great deal of damage was done to the wall more then they would have liked. Sighing he'd note the guards and others gathering more inside town A few homes leveled and even a larger hotel like home lay in rubble as man of the guests who escaped gander upon the wreckage. At a distant were tents.
After Math
As they continue to pass some fires were apparent and some laid crying upon their knees for lost one; tamers and digimon alike. A few even laid hurt beneath the rubble; injured. Rushing over the large male and his digimon would lift together the slab. Yet cries of pain were heard as the he told his digimon to stop.
Looking he'd notice the figure had broken boken bones and was injured bad. Taking a deep breath he'd order his digimon to pull him out swiftly and gently as he lift the slab on his own. It as no or never. Lifting the rock with Herculean strength; on par with what his massive muscles looked capable of he'd scream using adrenaline to help him.
Lifting with his leg's he'd move the massive slab before throing it at the crumbled building. Hearing a voice within scream as the rock cracked a hole in the wall he'd see a small girl and her digimon. The building roof collapsing he'd turn to Veemon,
"Go take the male to get aid at the first aid tents if they haven't already been set up. I will get the girl out with Guilmon."
They Needs a Hero
Turning he'd croach by the wall as the terrified little girl cried her digimon and her terrified as flames grew in the back.
"Shhhh it's gonna be okay, you hear me sweetie. I won't let anything happen to you. I am gonna have Guilmon break this wall. So I'm gonna need you to step back, but the structure of the building doesn't seem to sound. So I am gonna need you to be brave girls and run as fast as you can once you see the hole is made okay."
Turing to guilmon he'd nod as he struck the building with his Rock breaker technique a gaping hole made as the girl and digimon ran forth. The Ceiling itself collapsing before them as Ryuu jumped forward catching it with his back and slamming hard upon his knees grunting the girl scared.
"I...i..its okay sweet heart I told you I won't let you get hurt. Please...crawl past you can do it. Don't hang onto your fear. Let it go...Let it go...I Can't hold it back anymore. Let it go, let it go Turn away and slam the door!"
He'd sing hoping to give the scared girl courage as she crawled smiling some tears in her eyes as he continued.
"I don't care What they're going to say Let the flames rage on, The fire never bothered me anyway!" He'd say grunting some as guilmon helped the two out and the girl giggles some despite injuries as his awful singing helped her and made her feel better; reminding her of frozen. Ryuu would smile once more laughing some glad his plan worked. Yet once more screaming, he attempted to lift himself and escape. Yet the weight as too much an he appeared stuck. Reaching inside his pocket he'd shout struggling.
"DIGI ARMOR ENERGIZE!"
Guilmon digivolving to Tyranomon X as he raised the building up form his tamer and let him roll back collapsing. As the giant dino stood there he'd loook about. Ryuu exhausted laid their upon the ground then looked to the girl and smiles some. Getting up he'd pick up the girl and make his way towards the tents to have her and her tamer looked at.
While he ordered Tyranomon to help people in buildings or those trapped under. Veemon at the location of the tents heard his tamer's voice and armor digivolved as well being just within range.
"You alright boss?"
Nodding he'd speak softly to the Flamdramon
"Yes Vee I'm fine I'll have my arm looked at to make sure I didn't break anything. Please go help your brother and those who need help."
Sitting upon a table next to the girl he held his arm some Perhaps he dislocated it but none the less it was worth it. Eyes shifting to the male and the girl he was just glad he came about when he did. Now two lives were spared; although it could never make up for those lost. It was nice to think he helped lower the casualty count.
The Following Day
It as hours later at some point the trio had left to rest while others continued their effort. Sometime into the next day when the trio had gotten up and once more took too the city's aid. As they made their way out his arm felt a bit better; it had been dislocated but nothing to major. As they seemed to hit a cross road their path would be met by another and his digimon; two the male swore he saw the day before during the battle. A swift smile passed as he waved to the tiny digimon;Tsunomon. Listening he'd follow the other male and listen to the Red Veggiemon give him stick.
"Easy there boss man where here to help clean up, like the Panther said. Less bits it's gonna cost you and it will get done faster. Try to relax a bit, just tell us where we need to go and what needs to be done."
Smiling the male and his digimon stood awaiting to see where the angry little veggie would say to them if not where he'd direct them to help.

"Ah, Walter dear, I'm not sure this fellow knows what a Digimon is."
"If this is a dream, and I'm not truly dead, why did you disagree with me? I'm aware this is a dream, so why do you not leave me alone? I control you, don't I?"
No, nobody controlled anyone. Granted there was a puppet master, it was only an afterthought when the beast collapsed totally. Matthew froze, but not because of the victory. It was not because of that mechanical red dragon whom saved Matthew and Margot.
It was not out of satisfaction. It was not out fear. It was not out of anything positive or negative. It was a reaction lacking a catalyst. Something happened to the back of Matthew's right hand. He felt an itch, but never dared to scratch it.
"You're not dead, but you might be soon." Why did he agree to exchange contact information with her? Was it her voice? Her approach? Her appearance, her hidden concern or kindness? She was the first to speak to him; the first to bluntly tell him where he was and what that rabbit was.
If he didn't believe her then, he sure as hell believed her now. The bones of the beast were far behind Matthew and Margot- walking back to Triton out of worry. To be fair, Margot was terrified that her friends were injured or worse. As for Matthew...
It was work. It was a second job he began too long ago.
The two had made way to the center of the city, where many a person and Digimon had already begun to work. Two of them seemed familiar- they had most likely took part in taking down that monster.
After setting down Margot next to him, Matthew stood a few feet away, silent and clasping his right hand. There was a sharp pain and an inward hiss; his face scrunching up. It lasted for a second, but soon faded with a soft breeze passing by.
His eyes looked around, taking in the scene and entering an odd state of calm. All he really needed now was some latex gloves, cleaning supplies and body bags, and some very old music.
"Where do I even begin?"
A strange vegetable-like entity had sneered at them, prepared to lash out, or so it seemed. His attention was taken away by a little Tsunomon greeting those who offered to help.
Matthew looked away, spotting smoke coming from the wall that a missile had struck. His six held most of the damage, and that's where his feet carried him. Stone and metal had collapsed on a fair few bodies, and blood had spread like the roots of a grand tree.
There was serenity in the face and aftermath of death. There was clarity and union before it struck.
As all the people and creatures began to work, Matthew started to feel at home. The first order of business was to locate those he could carry to safety. Slabs of concrete were not easily move by his own strength. There were others who could aid and excel in that field.
Three hours had passed by now. Matthew had set up a small relief station in a ruined, but stable, building at the edge of the destroyed section. Beds were laid out inside and Margot had taken it upon herself to play nursemaid. Her companion had left his jacket and effects with her, seeking to find medical supplies of a different kind.
...the day after... It was honestly at least three hours past midnight. Margot had sang the wounded to sleep and found herself in slumber land. Matthew was tired and sore, his pants dirty and his shirt stained in blood. His hands were cut up from moving debris and the like, but the pain was not focused there.
The pain was closer to his heart, and the heart of the elderly woman being carried back to camp.

[attr="class","smdbody"]It made for a truly pitiful sight. The partial destruction of such a place had only served as a reminder to the potential danger of residing in such a world. She had spotted the smoke from several miles away during her initial approach and remained wary before tentatively making her entrance. Bell had considered the option of avoiding the location entirely - unfortunately, her traveling supplies were far too depleted to make such a crucial decision. "Don't have much of a choice," she grunted, her voice a low growl. The red-head made the wise choice of keeping her head low and her gaze averted. No one really payed her any mind due to her subdued posturing, too distracted by their own misfortune or tasking as they moved about. Both humans and Digimon worked in tandem, tamer's effectively wielding their companions so to shift the positioning of large debris. Bell was tempted to pause and observe as they worked, but, she realized that it could potentially gather unwanted attention to herself. She had no intention of helping, instead trying to locate someone who could serve as a vendor. Unfortunately, there were none who were readily available. Guess she'd be here for a bit longer than she would have liked. "Dammit. What do yah mean?" A nervous Elecmon swallowed, stuttering out his sentences as his claws clicked together. "Our w-w-wares have been damaged. F-for good, I'm afraid. We won't be a-able to sell..." He flinched away from the young woman as a flash of anger contorted her pretty features. Bell turned away after a moment of prolonged silence, quick to realize that there was no point in harassing the former shop owner. The fellow was in a poorer spot than she, after all. The only option left was to get her hands dirty and work for whatever she might need. The likelihood that volunteers were being rewarded for their services was there. So, it was at that moment when she accepted the tasking of spreading resources to the weakened or injured. Water and small portions of food were fairly distributed, and many thanks and praises were given. Stealthily, she took a form of payment by filling her pack with whatever else remained. "Not much," she muttered to herself, scowling. "But, it'll do for now. Maybe Ah can leave this hole by mornin' if Ah keep it up. Heh." There was still a few other things she could scavenge from, and she soon went about looking among the crumbled remains of city. With that one task done, she could feign service by behaving as though she was attempting to locate individuals among the debris. Zachary blinked at the rather rude Redveggiemon, but in his mind, he could understand the crabby mood. Pulling out his digivice, he read the data as the holographic screen popped up. Redveggiemon's profile appeared on screen. "Red Veggiemon. Nasty attack, Chili Pepper Pummel. Even nastier attitude..." Zachary read before putting the digivice away in his pocket.
What surprised him was that Zachary was not the only tamer there. Another came with a Guilmon and Veemon. He seemed like an intimidating man with long hair. He too understood that Redveggimon was in a foul mood as well.
"Well, you slacking good-for-nothings, glad you could come and try to do some work for us," he growled, swinging his tendril-like spiked fists about. "Let's see if you make good with those claims. You can start by helping rebuild the city wall, or help clear the debris from the garden and start returning the soil-- OR help start putting up the foundation for the houses destroyed. WHat are you standing around for! CHOP TO IT!!"
I'd like to chop up that overgrown tomato, Panthermon said via telepathy to Zachary, almost causing the boy to spit out a laugh.
Glancing at Ryuu and the others, Zachary turned shyly and proceeded to get to work. Walking back to Tsudomon, Zachary knelt down to him. "So what are you working on, little guy?" he asked.
"Gi! Help me with the house building. We need help rebuilding the buildings here. Yep-yep!" the little digimon said and hopped along towards it.
Panthermon looked up to Zachary, indicating his own opinion. "I'm going to help out the others near the wall. Move the blocks and try to keep the front safe from enemies." the panther said.
"Okay. Let me know if you need any help there," Zachary said and walked off to help Tsudomon.
As everyone turned to their own tasks, with Redveggiemon still screaming at them. Zachary proceeded to help as he approched a grove of ruined buildings. Many in training digimon were working to try and lift debris away. Luckily, many of the homes were no bigger than an actual human person. Using his arms, he was able to clear out the stones and broken building parts away as if they were just stray branches from a tree. The real trick was to help rebuild it. There were stacks of wooden planks nearby-- designed to be used to line a house and then build around it. Zachary did his best to lift one at a time, balancing it on his shoulder as he moved to work on the first house. Tsudomon, continued to follow Zachary, rather taking a shine to Zachary.
Meanwhile, Panthermon helped with rebuilding the wall, but not to his delight. He was asked to help move blocks. Like a certain classic slave image, he had straps attached to him to allow him to pull blocks. Even worse, Redveggiemon were observing the work on the wall the most. "Come on, put your back into it! What are you a numemon?! Grow a spine and pull those rocks. "
While Panthermon still had help from some rookie digimon, the rock was heavy as he slowly was pulling it up. "If he starts whipping me with those arms, I am gonna tear him apart..." Panthermon growled as he dragged the large stone up the hill to put it in place in the wall. It was going to be one of many.

Triton Clean Up
Hearing the vegimon speak he'd chuckle and motion for his digimon to join him. Heading towards the wall he would raise his digivice and begin working his magic.
"DIGI ARMOR ENERGIZE!"
Guilmon shifting and changing into his armor stage he'd take shape of TyranomonX and immediately grab rubble and begin flinging it back into a pile helping clear the wall.
While he did that Veemon would begin digivolving as well. Only he'd take on Ex-VeemonX and begin to pulverize the rock pile with his fists and kicks til it was a fair collection of smaller rocks. It was then he'd fire of a X Lazer and turn it all to small pebbles and sand.
Ryuu himself would fill a cart with more rubble and then strap on a harness and drag it away walking alongside the panther now. A slight grin passing as he smirked.
"Why leave all the fun to you digimon..."
Teasing some with his words he'd ruffle the digimon's hair some before moving past and putting his hulkish figure to good use hauling off the rocks to be smashed into pebbles while his digimon assisted.
As time would pass hopefully they'd clear the area enough some to start rebuilding. Tyranomon heading off to grab a bunch of stones from the area and drag them over using it's size and muscles basically bringing the segmented wall itself so others could begin slabbing it with cement then layering it.
As he finished they he'd turn to his tamer who then nodded as he degenerated to his smaller form Guilmon then once more digivovled into Growmon. This time he'd head over to the rubble and along side EX-Veemon he'd melt the stone together forming new block and then let them cool.
Once cool Ex-Veemon would carry them over to others and fly them up as the wall grew higher to help place them. More and more time passing as they did and surprisingly not much of the wall got done. They weren't kidding it would take weeks. But their help alone might have cut it down by a few days. So if they stayed to help a bit longer they might just cut it even more.

She was a dwarf in decorated rags, yet healthy enough to stop her own bleeding. Tired and frail, she lay across Matthew's back as he carried her to Margot. She was obviously not human, but it didn't matter to her savior right now. Her breath was heavy, and she spoke with a voice akin to a human tobacco addict.
"You're so kind to be helping me. I could take care of myself but I've been busy sweeping my own home for too long. I didn't see that missile strike until my neighbor came a-bursting through the door covered in smoke and dust. I live... lived next to the wall, see..."
She went on, speaking of the town during the panic. Countless humans were spoken of in her recapture. Men, women, of ages from young to old. To know that some had possibly died did nothing to Matthew's mental state, and reaching out to their families was an idea that would never come to fruition.
Leaving this world was easy, or so some of the injured have said. "My Digivice... I can go back home with my..." That was the key.
Matthew remained in silence, long after the elder had stopped talking. She was dropped off and laid down on a bed close to the entrance. Though her mouth seemed sewn shut, she smiled and took a deep breath, falling fast asleep. With his jacket being used as her blanket, he set himself down beneath a window and joined the others in slumber.
~
He awoke, eyes wide open, to the sound of the elderly woman happily singing. In her hands was a broom and, at her side, was another dwarf in a burnt yellow toga with hair hanging down to cover his face. His own eyesight was not hindered, as he approached Matthew with an open hand and a hearty "Thank you!"
Apparently he was the husband of the old woman, and had been looking for her for quite some time. "T'was a big blast, that missile! I was getting some food and a nice coat rack for the house when KABOOM! The shop was far-far away from the point of impact but me and the shopkeep were blown away!" "If you've that much energy, then maybe you two can give me a hand with getting more beds prepared."
The two dwarves turned around and were quite shocked. Margot chuckled and bowed, "Nice to see you're both well, Baba and Jiji! How're the little Moemon-" Baba and Jiji broke into tears, cutting off Margot. They surrounded her and held to her tight.
Matthew prepared to speak, a finger half-raised and mouth half-opened. He got up and left the building, allowing the three to have their little moment.
This new day seemed to more spirited. A white-haired man was pulling a cart of rubble, and another had started to move away some debris for the smaller houses. It was hard to smile at every new face taking action. There were still bodies to locate, both alive and deceased, and quite a few grave markers to be made somewhere outside the town.
The pain in his right hand had stopped completely, and it was a grand relief. His eyes were about to inspect the limb, when they caught sight of a brunette woman mumbling to herself. She was off in some random direction and Matthew followed. Her accent was rather unusual and thick. Such a thing was hard to brush off, but it was her pace and presence that really stood out.

[attr="class","smdbody"]Well, shit. Of course she'd be the only one to attract attention when she was in the midst of scavenging. By then she had at least collected a fair amount of 'treasures', the items of the departed now stuffed within her pack. " Damn." The quiet obscenity slipped free of her lips and she turned to face the stranger whom had approached her. Her gaze was hardened, an obvious lack of warmth there as she eyed the man. "Ah'm fine." Her tone alerted the man to the fact that she would prefer to be left alone. There was still quite a bit she could take from the ruins of this town if given the chance. Especially while most were far too distracted to take notice to one slip of a woman. "Jus' peachy." Bell took a moment to take in their surroundings, noting that not too many individuals were milling about. This was preferable, especially since she disliked the idea of being looked upon suspiciously. Ah'll just discourage 'em. "A-Ah'm fine. Really," she assured. Panthermon grumbled as he helped pull the first block to the wall, and afterward, Redveggiemon directed to another one for him to drag. As Panthermon was upset over the situation, he felt someone pat him on the head. Anyone else but Zachary he would of snarled at-- however the kind gesture was not unappreciated as he glanced up at him, to see the rather intimidating human. The labor was hard but Panthermon continued to help with the moving, at least the actual start of a wall was now forming. As the wall construction still was in the works, Zachary continued to help the in-training digimon build their houses. This kind of work he could do alone without the need of too many strong digimon, so it was within human limits. It was more of a question of lifting and propping objects up. Planting many of the wooden planks into the ground, he helped support them in place by plotting more soil around them and stones. Smaller stones were used for the walls, and the rest was straw and hay, tied up to form the straw-roof. It was very 'straw, wood, bricks' kind of work-- as the houses were not sturdy by nature, but well enough for the type of homes these little digimon were used to. As he finished one of the houses with the help of the other digimon, he felt someone jump onto his head. "Oh wow! Thank you thank you thank you!" Tsunomon said, hopping up and down Zachary's head to show his appreciation. Zachary tumbled a bit as Tsunomon made a trampaline off his head. " Easy! I can't do much without my head!" he laughed. Reaching up, he picked up Tsunomon and put him back to the ground. "OKay, just like the view from there. Wow, your tall," he said with a chipper tone. A laugh escaped Zachary as he raised an arm and wiped the sweat from his brow. " Alright, where to now? The wall looks like its coming along well so where can I go that needs the most attention?" he thought out aloud. "Why not ask Redveggiemon?" Tsunomon said. The thought to ask the grouchy digimon made Zachary cringe. " Eh... i rather not. He's too spicy for my taste," he replied. Tsunomon giggled a bit, but then looked near where Redveggiemon was. "Well, its actually almost lunch time. Why don't you see if the cook nearby needs any help." That wasn't such a bad idea, Zachary thought. Not to mention, he was actually a good cook when called upon. He learned from his dad, having some excellent skills and taught Zachary how to cook rather well. " Sounds like a plan," he said. Though he was sure any digimon would rather do a job where it brought them closer to food, but Zachary could understand the need to help cook. Especially, with so many digimon helping out, it was going to be a big lunch order. Ryuu Oda

Triton Clean Up
Work Hard Play Hard, over the few hours of working the trio would slow down some around noon, closer towards one where the male would wipe the sweat from his brow and and smile.
"Hell of a work out..."
He'd say as his digimon reverted due to exhaustion and hunger. Shifting towards the red vegimon on duty he'd wave at him.
"Taking a lunch break boss, be back in an hour. Need to fuel up these hard workers and myself."
He'd say as he walked off towards the city looking for a place to eat. Before settling down to grab a bite and some water; re-hydrating himself as well as his partners.
Sitting not far off the tent site they'd all eat some soup and apples they'd been carrying. Watching some of the ill and injured he'd shake his head,
"Next time we must see to it that this sort of collateral damage doesn't happen."
He'd say as he got up finishing his meal and offered to deliver some food to the tents during his break hile his partners ate more and more. His goal was to help as much and as often as he could; perhaps running into others.
All this would be done while his break was in effect before looking to his stuffed digimon nearing it's end as he motioned them to follow him and once more digivolved them once more to Tyranomon X and Ex-Veemon X and the trio would return back to working the wall, perhaps gathering some allies along the way.

Margot's reunion was short-lived, as a few lucky souls had managed to bring in more injured. Their prayers of being the last few were dashed, but they remained courteous and caring. Father Jiji had ran to the makeshift kitchen and began to prepare a heart stew with whatever ingredients he could find. Those who had recovered had left the building and made straight for the nearest still-standing marketplace.
Had Matthew been there, he surely would've questioned the need for food. Data or not, a life often felt hunger and grew tired- a computer machine ate data daily, depending on how long it was used and whatever was being used. Applications, websites, even games from an archaic compact disc felt the need to eat.
If Matthew had been there, he would've understood after seeing the feast being prepared. As for Mother Baba, she took to cleaning the now unused beds for the new tenants.
"I should go check on Matthew. He's still a little new to this world. I know he avoids trouble, but with what happened..." A hand fell to the top of her head, and her eyes met the smile of Mother Baba. "A human in this world is a gift. We've seen these aliens grow and mature in even the shortest of minutes.
He'll adapt, whether he likes it or not; it's perfectly natural to feel fear." Margot tightened her lip, a small huff escaping from hidden nostrils. The air was smelling wonderful, but a familiar sense of sadness and worry stuck to her. "He fears he's dead, Baba. I may be the first he's opened up to but, if he gets seriously hurt here, he'll..." She sniffled, her eyes half-closing and sending a tear down to the ground.
~ "Excuse me! Miss? Is everything alright?"
The first two things she said lacked any noticeable emotion, though her tone was acknowledged.
Her face gave clues that she was worried, albeit in a hurried manner. Her outfit meant nothing, nor did that accent. Her body language was tough to work out, as well. A ghost, she could have been, hiding in a skin that meant nothing to her or anyone around. Her eyes were literally distant, as Matthew had at least nine feet between her and himself.
He didn't prepare anything else to say except one of the now common questions of, Are you looking for someone? or Are you looking for shelter? Of course, Do you need medical attention?, was out of the event. She seemed perfectly healthy and without a scratch on her.
She had no partner either, or maybe...
"A-Ah'm fine. Really, it's just a real shock tah see this, is all. Ah appreciate the concern. Ah gotta get movin'," Matthew visibly stepped back halfway through her decently built response. His right hand tensed up, though he casually slid it behind his back to rest against his waist. His fingers were subject to slight muscle spasms and the pain was slowly growing.
"Apologies, you just seemed to be in a rush. Uh, if you need anything, my partner and I have a small recovery center on the outskirts of the blasted zone just behind me. You're more than welcome to stop by- there's free food and lodging."
To avoid the obvious question of her having lost her partner was so easy to ask, yet he decided not to. Maybe there was a chance she hadn't met them either, or maybe something else was up.
She was acting funny.

[attr="class","smdbody"]"Er. Right." Thanks fer the obvious, fella. Ah guess he means well. No need ta be more of a bitch than Ah already am."Guess Ah'll do that 'fore Ah leave," she said, feigning relief. Now back to the free pickings while Ah can still get to 'em. Miss Belmont decided on merely offering him a polite wave as she turned toward the street, forcing herself to maintain a leisurely pace. The redhead wanted nothing more than to move with purpose - but, she also desired to be viewed as little more than a pedestrian for the time being. The female's posturing remained lax as she continued down the pathway, peering anxiously over her shoulder only when she turned a corner that had been settled someplace in the distance. There were a few buildings that remained standing, and she took advantage of their continued stability eagerly. Outta sight - and hopefully outta mind. A quiet sigh escaped her as she remained stationary, her single working eye half-expecting to be greeted with the sight of the dark-haired male. She slipped away only when she felt it was appropriate time to keep moving, distancing herself from the location in favor of entering the very few locations that possessed a small number of living bodies. The workers and their assistants had yet to begin work everywhere, and Belmont appreciated the obvious lack of volunteers milling about. "Lesse what we got here," she drawled. Visually appraising a recently acquired trinket - that had been found among what had once been a house - she didn't bother hiding her smile. "Ah could trade this in fer some food," she said, tucking it away in her pocket. Hope it ain't a dud or nothin'. Costume jewelry ain't worth shit even in this world." Moments like these made her regret not paying more attention to her dam's body ornaments. Her mother had the sharpest eye when it came to determining the value of all things that gleamed and glinted prettily. "That's it, Ah guess. Time to get outta here." She had yet to decide upon an appropriate exit. In all honesty, Belmont had been quick to conclude that she'd be forced to stay for the night. But, with the supplies that she now carried she'd be able to take leave of this location without fear of running low on supplies. | [attr="class","smdlyrics"] strike [attr="class","mdlyric"]me down [attr="class","giveitlyric"]give it everything you've got |

As Zachary approached the lunch shack, he saw a digimon he never recognized. A cream-colored bipedal creature with a smock over her front, and to top it all off-- had a hat that resembled a hamburger. Zachary approached the creature, recognizing it to be a Burgermon as the digimon continued to help cooking. It was chopping carrots and letus while a giant pot of stew was slowly boiling. "Meal isn't done yet, young man," The Burgermon said , keeping busy as she tried to make a big meal for so many digimon. Zachary shook his head. " I'm not here to eat-- not now anyway," Zachary said as he approached. " I am helping with the reconstruction. I'm taking a break from the house building and thought you could use an extra hand making lunch. I am a good cook too," he said, smiling. Putting down the cutting knife, the Burgermon looked up to him and smiled. "OH, how very sweet of you , young man." she said, as she stepped down from the stool she used to stand to the cooking counter. "I sure could use the extra help. Hmm... let's see..." the Burgermon pondered as she looked to Zachary and to her surrounding meals-in-progress. "Are you any good at tenderizing?" Zachary smiled as he remembered how he helped his father cook. He knew that when you pounded the meat, it made it more tender and easier to chew. It was also good when i wanted to marinate the meat, which he also knew was good for a stew. "Yes, ma'am," Zachary replied. Burgermon smiled as she pointed to the table behind her. "I have a bunch of meats that I plan to put into the stew. Id like it if you could tenderize them as best as you can, then cut them into cubes and put them into the soup. IF we spread it out and cut them small we should have enough for everyone here." she explained. " Ragout coming up," Zachary said as he walked over to the table. The mean was slow but artful as Zachary worked to tenderize the meat. He wasn't sure what it was but it looked like beef, and he hoped it was beef. He was not sure how food worked in the digital world, but he hoped it didn't involve the decapitation of an animal he personally knew. Either way, he was doing his part and not thinking about it. With a spiked-like hammer, he tendurized the meat section by section in each slab, then cutted it up into cubes as best he could. After that, he put them all into a pile and began the next section. Glancing over his shoulder, he saw Redveggiemon encourage the other workers. On a nearby ramp, he saw Panthermon, also hard at work. The need to heat the cement for the wall was needed, so he along with other fire-type digimon used their fires to help make it stick. Being his partner was a carnivorous based digimon, being from a jungle cat, meat was probably a necessity for the cat. Before long, he got the meat cut and now had a huge pile of chopped meat. " Okay, all done here. Now what?" he asked. "Put the meat into the pot slowly and start stirring. The broth is already hot and should seep into the meat easily. This will easily feed many digimon and fill them up," she said to Zachary, smiling on her animal-like face. " Hopefully, there will be some left for us too," Zachary joked, smiling back to her. With that, he pushed the cutting board towards the pot and bit by bit, began to dump the meat into the soup and with a giant handle, began to stir it up. All was going well, for the moment... "Death is never the end my dear. There are some people of whom believe that death is the first step towards immortality. Humans may be born to die, but that is not a curse. It is a blessing.
You'll come to realize this when the time comes, even though you might possibly be older than myself!" Margot sniffed and nuzzled her head against Mother Baba's chest. "You silly little hag... We were born at the same time. You just fought a lot more - I was always doing my best to heal you."
Mother Baba laughed and slowly began to pet the tadpole. "You're the best sister I never thought I wanted, my pearl."
~
With a careful eye, he watched her move, his expression changing to mild disappointment as she fled from his field of vision. He could've pursued her. He had no reason to, other than the fact she was probably interested in looting the place. She wasn't easy to read, but the way she spoke after his offer seemed to lead him to that conclusion.
Could he stop her? Absolutely. Would he stop her? Definitely not. There was money to be made in war. There were items and articles that had no use unless stated otherwise from those wishing to keep such trivial things. Clothes could be donated or bought, furniture could be relinquished and polished up, and sometimes...
They could be sold at a higher value for having "survived" the owner and damage. There were so many times where Matthew looked around a room and pointed a mental finger at objects of value. There were so many times where he asked to take things to his shop and rebuild them, just to find a way to copy it.
Granted those were just dreams, the only thing of value was the blood on the floor and learning how it got there. Knives, guns, blunt objects, tooth and nail... It was greater than mother's bedtime stories, or father's fairytales. They were actual people, of whom had beating hearts and now they stopped. Were they truly in a better place that existed not on paper, but in clouds?
Matthew's head craned upwards, the artificial sky showing movement of the wispy whites and grays, blocking the faux sunlight every now and then. His eyes closed and he took a deep breath...
The device in his right-hand inner jacket pocket began to vibrate, and he immediately removed it. His fingers wrapped around the grip and he pressed the round button on the bottom. A screen and keyboard materialized, and a message was shown.
calling a meeting.
if you two are still in one piece after that mess at Triton City, meet me at Necropolis tonight.
Matthew responded.
yeah, i'll be there. just... doing some clean-up.
~
Tamer and Digimon reunited at the makeshift camp and enjoyed a small meal with some questions from Matthew. There were numerous ways of reaching Necropolis, but Father Jiji suggested taking a train. Beings known as Trailmon had set up rails throughout every city and mainland location.
Despite its name and allusion, the Dark Area was rather welcoming of visitors and the like. "There's nothing truly evil about that place thanks to Plutomon. The dark knight is commonly misunderstood because of what he does, but he's a bonafide gentleman when speaking.
Well, sometimes. Honestly, I don't know- that's just word of mouth.
I never met the guy and don't plan on it anytime soon!"
An hour after that, preparations were made to leave for Necropolis. Matthew left some his belongings with Father Jiji and Mother Baba, promising to return soon and help finish up what was left.
