PERSONALITY You will hear me say this again, but I never liked describing myself. Just recently, I learned of a phrase that struck something inside me. "In life, there are two tragedies. One is to lose your heart's desire. The other is to gain it." I don't remember the author, but that phrase is a good thorn to be sticking in one's side.
As a child, I always dreamed of being at sea. I dreamed of sailing the world and enjoying the fruits of the lands which I laid anchor on. I was ambitious, and still am. The only thing that's changed is my approach. I was a crybaby, always getting worked up and teary-eyed. Most of my lessons were taught in a room adjacent to the Principal's Office. I was, quite literally, a kid.
Then I learned ignorance. I learned how to be unaware of threats and never to take them at face-value. I learned how to stop crying over silly things. I always think before I act, but sometimes I think too far into it. Aries born children are typically head-on and that will never change. I strive to make the best of my work, and I damn proud when the outcome puts a smile on my face. My calloused fingers are worth the pain.
Then there's the bad part of me. I work too hard. If I clock in for an 8 hour shift, I'll work a few extra hours. It's not for the money or the attention; I just want things to be as neat as they can the next day. I hardly get any sleep with all the thoughts in my head. If you want me to stop, just ask if I want to go fishing.
That'll shut them up.
I do have a job, and that has taught me a lot of things. I own a little crafting boutique at home. My specialty is making wooden toys for kids. Yes, we're in an era of video games and plastic, but there's a nostalgic factor in working with wood. Not only that, but the eyes lighting up on a child's face when they see what can come from a tree is quite refreshing.This is how I probably still am. This is the me prior to coming to this Digital World. I digress using these next few words but, everything changed the second I arrived. For the longest time, I thought I was dead. It took the words of someone I've come to respect and admire a great deal to drag me back. I shan't say her name because of this. I've never actually seen a war. I've read about them, and watched them on video but, I've never stood within rifle distance of a man being stabbed in the back and dying right then and there. No binoculars, no scope... Just my eyes witnessing the terror. I've come to grow attached to those around me. I've come to hate, despise, love and cherish them all. I've come to appreciate travel a lot more, that's for damn sure. A large chunk of, if not all, my life was spent in a single state. I've touched the very depths of where the dead rest; I've soared to Heaven and back and for once I finally feel alive. I almost feel free, but there's so much more I don't understand. I'm like a curious little babe opening up a map of the world and pointing somewhere they can't pronounce, let alone fathom what happens there. Scared, lost, anxious, nervous... If this is literal curiosity, it'll only grow worse. Not only have I now seen war twice, I've held so many dead bodies and moved so much rubble that I could probably vomit out the last words they breathed and feel the last hands they've touched. APPEARANCE As a kid, I never like describing myself. At least, this version of me. I was scrawny and pathetic. I couldn't hold a fishing rod for five minutes without my arm losing energy. Tantamount to a cliche, I know, but it's true. Everything changes for a person at a certain point in their time. My crafting classes marked that period.
I look younger than I actually am. My skin does not tan, but I have gotten compliments about my tone. European skin burns, which is funny because I'm almost always near water and heat. What lies underneath my clothes is nothing to gawk at. I've a few abs on my stomach, and my legs are a few sticks short of being thin. I do work out, but not enough.
My hair is combed on the top, sides, and back of my head, but I let it spike out in all directions towards the bottom. On my face is nothing special. I've seen characters with one eye, one ear, and scars of all kinds, but my damage is internal.
In terms of clothing, relaxation and comfort are a definite. I do wear suits to formal gatherings, but give me a button up for casual wear and I'll stick to a t-shirt. I don't like sweatpants that much, nor do I care for jeans. A nice pair of khakis will do just fine for me. If you like colors, turn around. I love earthy tones more than anything when it comes to clothing. As for footwear, I have a soft spot boots, especially those worn by military personnel. I own a pair of steel-toed and they get used more than anything else.This might never change, though I do have a neat little silver ring that a certain someone gave to me. I do not wear it unless in her presence. I've also managed to leave a permanent scar on my right hand; as penance and payment for conjuring a fool's wish.
BIOGRAPHY I see no point in keeping a journal, as I see no point in holding up a facade. I can sit here, in this world, and write a book about my life, and the characters I've created. Would anyone buy it, knowing that the subject is too similar to myself?
No. I shall tell you the truth.
My first character is a little boy, born near the water and destined to be whisked away by it. The date is March 23rd, 2012. The skies are dark, and a storm can be heard to the east. A group of people are aboard a ship, and one of them is giving birth at the worst possible time. She screams while on the cabin's bed as the boat rocks. Minutes pass and this boy is born.
The boat heads for the mainland and the group rush to a hospital in Queen Anne's County. Matthew Aaron McDermott was born at 2:15 AM. We fast forward to the summer of 2027. It is April 15th, 3:47 PM, and Matthew is being scolded by his father for having gotten into another fight. The evidence is a black eye and bloody knuckle. Matthew states the other kid tried to take his seat on the bus.
As punishment, Matthew's father takes the boy out to the ocean with two rods and a small box of food. This is where I'd tell you that holding the rod in his hands put him at ease, and that is true. What I haven't told you is what led to Matthew's father deciding on this punishment.
We turn back the clock to the start of my middle school days. I am anxious and afraid of the people around me. I'm shy as a rabbit and everyone notices after a few seconds. They all start laughing at me and I should ignore it. Heh. My first day at school and I'm in the Nurse's Office crying with a shaking fist and bloodied lip. Two kids are in the Principal's Office and they're grinning.
I'm soon back at home and my father decides to take me out fishing. "I was like you," he said. "I was shy and nervous, but I just shrugged it off. I took those words into one ear and sent them right out the other. And that's all they are- words. It's nothing to cry over if you know that." I never wanted to leave that boat.
I just felt calm around water and victorious after snagging a bite. These feelings stopped after the end of middle school. Everything positive about me stopped after middle school. To be honest, I don't even remember my father. The man I described was the man of whom adopted me - his brother.
I was only nine or ten years old, I think, and my parents were depositing a check at the local bank. There were two people behind the counters and both were dealing with others. The doors burst open and a group of men and women in wooden masks start screaming. My father jumps one of the women, but is shot in the chest. I wasn't even with them; I was in the car looking down at my iPod.
I ran in after seeing an ambulance and its crew arrive. The memory ends there, but picks up where I said earlier. It's the start of High School. My summer vacation was spent on a fishing boat, and I've signed up for an after-school crafting program. However, my personality went from meek and afraid to unyielding and cold.
Any friends I had stopped keeping in touch with me. My classes were bland and boring, but that was alright. After school, I stayed for a few hours working on small projects in the program. I sometimes had enough time waiting for the instructor, so I did my homework. Geography was a great class, and history too. Math and science... not so much.
My life was basic until I decided to open up a small shop after graduating. I stopped living with my uncle after my mother died. I was already working part-time as stocking and had enough money to rent an apartment. I can't remember how old I was, but... I remember getting a visit from my Uncle right after settling in.
It was in December and the neighbors had helped me unpack and treated me to dinner at a restaurant called Dock's. We were well into our meal when my Uncle came by and asked if I could talk to him. I was taken aback by his sudden appearance, but he said it was urgent. I excused myself and we started walking to his car- his hands were shaking and he was sweating.
Then there was smoke and the next thing I knew I was back at my apartment, on the couch, coughing too hard, and with a strange mask in my hand. On the inside was a note.
"My dearest Matthew, I am terribly sorry. I made a big mistake a long time ago and your father had to suffer. My wife and I were running low on payments, and the people we worked for threatened to kill us if we didn't deliver. We don't know why, but we were too scared to ask.
We were told to rob a bank along the 301 Highway. We never expected someone to fight back. My wife shot your father. I'm probably dead by now, but you need to know who I am." And then I realized the note was written on the back of a picture. I turned this over and saw my Uncle.
Up until today, I've worked hard to make a living. My store is quite popular with the older folks, but there's nothing wrong with that. My mind still hurts, but my lungs are lucky enough to still be functioning. I have a lot of questions still, but the people I want to ask are already dead.
I feel that there's something missing though... Well, obviously there is, but... It's hard to describe.This story means nothing unless considered a prologue. My arrival into this world is found in those two pairs of ellipses, and granted by a truck driver of whom slammed into me along the Kent Narrows Bridge. Entry into this world is found largely in the form of electronic malfunction. I was given a phone that I did not order, and carried myself to the nearest electronics store and was greeted by a CLOSED sign. I do not question myself or Margot as to why I came here. I had questioned, for the longest time, how to leave and carry on. I've stayed here since the accident. I'm good as dead up above, so why bother? My first book has ended, and so begins another. I shall start it with a burial, so long as they give me a body to rest.

APPEARANCE Quite literally, I am an Otamamon of the fresh-water variety. For whatever reason, I have a scar on my underbelly that wasn't always there. My eyes are virtually the same as all Otamamon, though my friends have stated my black irises have a faint rose tint to them, as do my claws. I always assumed the latter was just bright clay stains, but the color is relatively noticeable under a pair of exceptional glasses.
PERSONALITY Er, yes... I have worn glasses whilst enjoying my daily activities with Matthew. I thoroughly enjoy reading a good romance novel and having a spot of tea, soaking in the spring sunlight and... Oh dear, I'm starting to sound like a dreadful old British Countess. This, I can't really explain though I just write it off as my sister and her husband's above world travels rubbing off on me. The two of them have a home up in the woods of Eastern Europe that's cared for by a Tamer-playing-Embassy. That aside, my dearest Matthew has also influenced me quite a bit in the way of music. You'd think that, with my title of Mother, I'd enjoy slow, graceful violins and cellos and Beethoven and Vivaldi or even Brahms and Tchaikovsky, but no! There's an adorable little gem of whom pursued music circa 2003 known as Dianne van Giersbergen. She makes me blush and fills me with fire sometimes. Oh, if only I could've met her back then!

It deflects small objects such as pebbles or pennies, and leaves a gooey trail should Bubbmon be mobile. Physical attacks would find their effectiveness cut by -2. Special ones would exert their full effectiveness; ignoring Bubbmon's unique skin.
ACTIVE ABILITIES ○ GUMMY BUBBLE special - waterThe same material that makes up the gooey residue of footprints can be used by Bubbmon as a means of self-defense. A bubble is generated from her mouth, blowing up to about her size, and fired at the enemy in question. The bubble moves as fast as she can summon it and, should they be unlucky, trap the opponent for a single turn, allowing Bubbmon to escape from harm. Pebbles and coins will find themselves bounced back to the opponent, albeit inaccurately. Physical moves are cut by -3, whereas special ones are hindered by -1.
ACTIVE ABILITIES ○ RUBBER BUBBLE special - waterDon't let the name of this technique fool you, as these bubbles are more akin to glue blobs. They can stick to the ground and blow up after a while, or even latch themselves onto a limb or body part and detonate. Just because something grew stronger, doesn't mean it wants to stay. Rain also has the benefit of increasing her abilities by +5, but cannot stack with the default bonus. Health and AP are not boosted if applicable.
ACTIVE ABILITIES ○ AQUA JET physical - waterAqua Jet is an upgrade to Margot's Body Blow, but can only be used underwater. This has a very small chance of stunning the opponent. DAMAGE: 15 COOLDOWN: 1 ○ BUBBLE BOMBER special - waterEver the little tadpole, Margot can summon bubbles on land, or in water, and treat them as grenades. Each bubble is full of pressurized water, offering a minor chance of blinding and disorienting the opponent for a single turn. DAMAGE: 10 COOLDOWN: 2 ○ MARINE KNIVES special - waterFrom prey to predator, Margot's claws will always be her primary weapon. By coating them in a fine sheet of manipulated water, she can fire them off, trading the ability to blind via bubbles for that of causing the opponent to bleed for as long as they can hold out. There is a knife for every finger she has. DAMAGE: 10 COOLDOWN: 2 ○ MARINE CLAWS physical - waterIf the knives are made useless somehow, Margot will enter close combat with her enemy and use her claws as they should be used, to rip and tear, possibly goring the opponent in the process. Should the clouds above be angry and screaming down at the earth, Ranamon absorbs its teardrops and treats battle as a show for all to see. Depending on the intensity of stormy weather, Ranamon becomes that version's embodiment. A light drizzle would add just a little spring to her step; minuscule. A true storm, with thunder and lightning, add a powerful punch and kick to her every move by a factor of +5. Agility is also increased by +3.
ACTIVE ABILITIES ○ IONIAN BLADES physical - waterWater is found everywhere, and Ranamon uses that as a primary form of attacking. By coating her hands with surrounding moisture, she can treat them as blades - the length of a standard falchion, and attack the enemy using a variety of agile dance moves. DAMAGE: 10 COOLDOWN: 0 posts ○ IONIAN WHIPS special - waterIf close combat is not an option, she can transform her Ionian Blades into whips, and strike from a distance or attempt to ground a flying enemy. In order to use Ionian Whips, the Blades must be used prior. Each whip is roughly 4ft in length. DAMAGE: 15 COOLDOWN: 1 posts ○ SCYLLA'S KISS special - waterConsider Depthmon's Bubble Bomber. Add a dash more pressure and heat the water. This is Ranamon's Kiss, and can be treated as a single grenade, or cut in half and used twice per attack. Either version is capable of burning the opponent for two turns; however accuracy is dependent on how close Ranamon is to the enemy. Even in the weakest form, they still sting. DAMAGE: 15 COOLDOWN: 2 posts ○ SCYLLA'S LULLABY special - neutralDon't fall for Ranamon's childish demeanor and playful nature. Though a dark variant, she is still able to grasp false sanity and trick anyone she wishes via song and dance. Through song, she attempts to drop the enemy's guard and put them to sleep for a single turn. Whatever happens next is up to her... DAMAGE: 0 COOLDOWN: 3 posts

PASSIVE ABILITIES ○ HYGROSCOPYphysical - waterCalamaramon's physiology grants her the ability to regenerate damage taken via water absorption. Though rain works just as well, the full benefits of this ability are truly understood if Calamaramon is submerged halfway, or totally, in a body of water such as an ocean, lake or river. For every turn spent in the water, Calamaramon recovers 10 points of Health, but suffers double damage from WOOD-based attacks. ○ CNIDARIAN TOUCHphysical - darknessCalamaramon's tentacles are more than just for show. While they can tear and rip things to shreds, the two larger ones are imbued with special toxins that can poison, paralyze, or put the opponent to sleep. The nails on her fingers also carry this property. Determining the toxin is based on a die roll during the turn a physical attack is used. The numbers 4~6 hold a status effect, while 1~3 offer nothing. These toxins can only be delivered through physical contact with the barbs, and add an extra cooldown period if a delivery is successful.
ACTIVE ABILITIES ○ AQUA OBSCURA special - darknessBy opening an ink sac linked to an eye on her lower torso, Calamaramon spews a cloud of black ink or smoke towards her opponents and blind them for up to two turns. Humans and Spirit Wielders are more likely to be blinded, while Digimon have a higher chance of avoiding this. Of course, anyone wearing glasses are totally immune to being blinded, unless the item breaks. DAMAGE: 0 COOLDOWN: 2 posts ○ MESSINA'S WALTZ physical - darknessBy treating her body as a spinning top or driedel, the many tentacles about her seek the enemy and attempt a physical strike. Alternatively, if she can't move, Calamaramon can treat her tentacles as whips, extending up to 10~12 feet around her. Cnidarian Touch is delivered via this technique. DAMAGE: 20 COOLDOWN: 1~2 posts ○ MESSINA'S EMBRACE physical - waterShould her tentacles become immobilized, or if they enemy is reckless and attacking head-on, Calamaramon will fight with her hands. Similar in appearance to Ranamon's Ionian Blades, each individual finger on Calamaramon's hands become coated in water. If Cnidarian Touch should activate, and the die reveals a 1, the water surrounding her nails will become heated and inflict a burn lasting for two turns. DAMAGE: 20 COOLDOWN: 2~3 posts ○ CHARYBDIS' WINK special - waterIn a manner similar to Aqua Obscura, the eyes have tubes connected to an inner chamber full of water inside Calamaramon's lower torso. This water serves no other purpose apart from self defense if the enemy cannot be blinded. By opening these tubes, the eyes are treated as pistols, and fire off jets of pressurized water in four of the eight different directions. This attack, though often devastating, is easily avoided by staying above ground, as all four shots are fired simultaneously. DAMAGE: 30 COOLDOWN: 0 posts ○ CHARYBDIS' HOWL special - darknessThere is no such thing as fair play when dealing with Margot's version of a Calamaramon. Excelling in status effects is one thing, but her Howl is truly to be feared. By screaming loud and clear to the depths of the Abyss, Calamaramon can remove a single buff from the opponent while damaging the eardrums. Avoiding the damage inflicted is easy solved with head protection, but feeling powerless cannot be avoided. DAMAGE: 10 COOLDOWN: 3 posts
