With the final rays of light fading from view, the Domain Savannah was bathed in darkness, lit only by the light of the stars tinted by the sometimes strange, wavering colors of the Digital World's sky.
Walter took a deep breath in to savor the night's air, then let it out with a long sigh. He was alone, standing in a field of grass that seemed to go on forever around him, interrupted only by the occasional tree. The rabbit watched the wild Digimon go by from his spot in the grass- some were alone, others milled about in groups or partners, going about their night. Large eyes lingered on a distant herd of Shimaunimon momentarily, before turning his head to look in the direction his own partner had gone.
It had only been a few minutes, and he was already starting to get worried. Despite this being a fairly safe part of the Digital World, something was putting Walter off. Perhaps it was because she hadn't spoken to him for most of the night, and when she had, her only words were "wait here". She would have to come back soon- unless she were attacked, there was no reason why she wouldn't. An attack perhaps- but she would whistle if trouble reared its terrible head, and with Walter's ears he would hear it a mile away. But that didn't answer his question. Where had she gone off to?
He didn't know, but had a bad feeling in his core- though maybe that was just him over-worrying again.
Claire walked somewhat of a distance away to where she arranged to meet with Angeli for her trial. It had to be quite a walk, unfortunately, and she would find somewhere to watch the show later, but with the range Walter's ears gave him, she had to make sure they wouldn't be heard. She hadn't told Miss Angeli about her trial yet, however- all she had left was a message, containing the topic - "SEKAI TRIAL" and the location they were to meet- a secluded outcrop of rocks in the savannah.
Oh, she was looking forward to it.
Part of her ached with pain, thinking about what she was about to do. But she'd already steeled herself for this, and once again reminded herself that the partner she loved was already long gone- replacing him was a Digimon that was but a mere imitation, and a half baked one at that. It was time to face facts- her Walter wasn't coming back, and there was nothing that could be done about it.
Well- almost nothing.
The very least she could do was shake him loose. If he wanted to be free of Shin Sekai- as he made it known at every private opportunity- Claire decided she wouldn't make it such a problem anymore, and Miss Angeli, once she arrived, was going to help her.

Night has taken to claiming the Domain Savannah, nothing more but the moonlight and stars of the unknown realm of Digital Space offering illumination for those down below. For Angeli however, it offered little comfort as the Zirconiamon swiftly moved towards her destination; catching a glimpse of a human-figure waiting for her.
The bestial Digimon came to a stand still as she finally came into Claire's sight, she bowing courteously to her as a sign of respect. "Evening lady Claire. I take you are well?" The Champion-level carbuncle would somewhat meekly greet the horseman, a bit of hesitation in her voice. After all, she had no reason to believe this was anything but the most official of business when the woman had sent her a message about a "trial" of some sorts, the only information she receiving being a location; which she had swiftly headed towards.
The Zirconiamon seemed to bow her head in acknowledgement to her fancily decorated superior, glancing off into the night. Not a single soul dwelled here beyond them... not even Walter. This seemed to confuse Angeli some, unsure of as to why tamer and partner were separated right. now. Seeking to take the initiative, she took charge with questions. "Pardon my rudeness, this is a trial is it not? For what may I ask? And where is Walter by chance? I know you are a strong, independent woman; but I am sure he fears for your safety as much as I."

It wasn't long at all before the jeweled rabbit arrived, promptly bowing in respect to the Famine horseman. Claire offered a nod and lips curved upwards as if pleased. Though perhaps not to the extent Miss Angeli went through- she was probably the most extreme example- some others in Shin Sekai as well had been going out of their way to show respect to Claire in a similar fashion. Perhaps it would be... a bit distasteful of her to express it out loud, but Claire would be lying if she said she didn't feel a surge of pride, receiving such gestures.
"Good evening, Miss Angeli- indeed, quite so. I hope you fare the same." Claire's reply came in even tones- despite what she planned to happen, the blonde did not feel nervous. The bittersweet night lay ahead, and her path was clear. Two birds with one stone- Angeli would prove she was a capable young Digimon by defeating Claire's partner, and Claire would, consequently, rid herself of an imposter and nuisance.
Ah, Angeli's confusion was understandable- Claire and Walter were rarely far apart from each other, despite both being quite capable. Safety in numbers and all that, especially for tamers. "Ah yes- all of that ties together, actually. Let me explain."
"As you must know already, we need only the best in Shin Sekai- those who are willing to give their all to for the group and serve this cause to the best of their capabilities." She paused momentarily to gauge the Zirconiamon's reaction. "I called you here tonight to test your ability and loyalty."
Her small smile widened, just a little. "So tell me, before I go on- are you willing to complete the task I give you, and become a full-fledged member Shin Sekai's Famine Unit?" The moment of truth now- would Miss Angeli be willing to complete the task given to her? Or would she run, and face Shin Sekai's wrath? Claire found herself intrigued in anticipation of the answer.
"If so, your task is to eliminate my partner."
"Claire speech."
"Walter speech."
