{ } A space between the darkness, and the light. To assume that the Lost Highway was a portal to hell itself was not a farfetched assumption, if one were to put stock in such ideas; all that was required to reach it was the impetus to cast oneself into the choking shadows of oblivion, from which they would certainly never return. But if one were to examine this solemn and desolate place from the opposite side of the coin, it could just as easily be construed as a staircase leading straight to Heaven. If that were so, then perhaps there was a faint sliver of hope for these damned and tortured souls, who were all but forced to resign to their horrible fates? Such ideologies were of little substance to creatures like Syntax, a member of the enigmatic Keramon species. Even within this space between spaces, this realm of everlasting twilight, neither the promises of a life within the light nor the thought of an eternity trapped in the Dark Area compelled him to stray from his prime directive, the single most important command that drove this strange, tentacled Digimon to go where he went and do what he always did. Devour. Even now, as he drifted aimlessly along the crumbling road that bound together the light and the dark, Syntax wanted nothing more than to consume precious data. So much, in fact, that he was willing to tear open holes in the fabric of space itself –– an act that he could actually perform without trouble here, where the Digital World's internal security programs would not threaten to delete him on sight. A random chunk of debris floated by, capturing the alien Digimon's attention as his head turned nearly two-hundred degrees in order to better study his new snack with interest. A sickening giggle erupted before Syntax snatched the rock from the air and crammed it deep inside his gaping maw, chomping furiously as bits of ones and zeroes flew out like spittle from a newborn child. It was not enough. Such measly morsels would not satisfy a hunger that was, for all intents and purposes, without a definable limit. He always wanted more, and no matter how much he ate, it would never be satisfactory enough. Such was the existence of a freak of nature. MADE BY VEL OF GS

Will You Not Join Me?
The Dark Area to many individuals was a land of bad omens and malevolence, a place told to young, unruly Digimon in the hopes of spooking them into doing the right thing; less literal Boogeymon come and drag them down here. Nothing more but children's tales, but it was still a foreboding place... so to someone currently watching; seeing a young lady with long, blue and pink hair dressed in gothic lolita strolling down the pathways of this twilight-filled realm was perhaps somewhat strange; especially for their lack of a Digimon partner usually seen with humans.
Deciding to rest her legs some, the human(?) hustled towards a large rock, scaling it with relative ease. Taking care to dust herself off first, she pulled out what seemed to be a high-tech communicator device; tweaking around with the settings before beginning to speak out loud. "This is Angeli. At the time of recording this message, my current field report has been to say the least... unfruitful. I am here at the Lost Highway, and as usual the Dark Area is where dreams come to die."
Glancing idly off into the distance, the holosuit-donning Digimon continued to speak aloud. "I had heard about that one of the other members... that young man named Edward I believe; that he appeared to have gotten in a feud with a village of Nyaromon and it's guardian. Something about him manipulating a tamer to attack it, said tamer's partner getting killed in the brawl. Reports are that said guardian has received Plutomon-sama's blessing himself to live in peace here... and as such; we would not wish for any bad blood between her and Shin-Sekai no? After all, she could be a valuable ally."
"So at the time of me recording this for you lady Claire, I've been wandering here in a attempt to find said village so that I can at least patch any problems that the reckless fool may have created in his meddling. This is embarassing to say the least. Something someone like Leyton would have done! I would rather that Shin-Sekai's name not be tarnished, especially in such a distasteful manner. I'll head back to the Complex either when I am done, or if I do not find this village in the next few hours. Take care please." She would finish up, a few swipes and presses being all it took to get the message sent to her superior and powered off.
As quick as she put away the device, Angeli pulled out a box wrapped in cellophane; smiling slightly as she unwrapped it. It was filled with an assortment of gourmet chocolates, picked up during her brief visit to Necropolis several hours ago. "Sigh. The life of a pretty thing like me is a boring one." She would idly say to herself before popping in one of the sweets, letting it melt in her mouth; Angeli seemed to relax slightly. The sweet, but bitter taste of dark chocolate almost helped to let her forget that she was currently right now in Digital Hell basically. Oh well... her trip here shouldn't take too much longer.
Of course as the holosuit-donning Digimon was being idle, she was unaware of any individuals close by.

{ } A voice was here. And it was female. Hearing signs of communication, Syntax's entire body flopped backwards by a complete ninety degrees, an impossible feat for any Digimon, or human for that matter, bearing a spinal column. He then bent his neck like so until bulging green eyes fell on a woman with oddly colored hair, speaking into what looked like an electronic device. A flicker of mild static surrounded his body as he appeared to "glitch" his way around a nearby boulder, clinging to its coarse, rocky surface with his great, meaty fingers while he hid himself from the girl in the little black dress. There were several moments where he would poke his head out from behind the rock, just to see if she was paying attention. But, based on the way she appeared focused with talking into that little gizmo, Syntax processed that she was far too absorbed in her own devices. Odd. Then, she pulled out something dark, something edible; it had to be, otherwise she would not have put it in her mouth. Syntax's pupils, black and empty like the void he and this female currently drifted around within, shrank to the size of pinholes as the corners of his mouth curled upward, revealing a set of sharp, triangular teeth. She had food. Another distortion, an unfortunate side effect of simply being a Keramon, warped the gravity of the immediate space surrounding the boulder Syntax hid behind, instantaneously crushing the object to powder. His presence would be made known, one way or another. But he would not make any sudden movements, apart from the mild twitching movements done by his ribbon-like antennae. As they lifted themselves slowly into the air, upon reaching a certain point, they flopped forward, their pointed ends aimed directly for the woman — or, rather, the recording device she had just put away. Until she was forced to retrieve it, her ears would be assailed by a high-pitched screeching noise comparable to the sound of radio interference bursting from the gizmo, an effect entirely of Syntax's own doing. Since he could not speak himself — yet another drawback to being a Keramon — he had to remotely hijack any communications media he came across in order to interact with others, a nifty talent he quickly revealed as a static-garbled voice, hoarse and hardly decipherable on its own, rang out from her pocket. Will You Not Join Me?
Already on her third chocolate, Angeli would have almost not noticed the intruder if it weren't for the fact that a somewhat loud crushing noise immediately caused her to jump, her eye widening quick. "What the..." She would manage to mumble before catching the almost-jellyfish-like jester in her sight, dust and rubble in front of him. It was a Keramon, a somewhat common Digimon that she was somewhat used to due to Shin-Sekai having a sizable number of them as Kerai. Very simple, idyllic Digimon in a way... only really caring for when their next meal was. They however were certainly not the most civil Digimon around... at least most of them.
When the communicator suddenly began to garble, Angeli immediately began squinting at the Keramon, already knowing that it was the unidentified Digimon's fault there. Pulling it out however did reveal some garbled dialogue from the device. A slight look of bewilderment was on the holosuit-donning Digimon's face, she not looking very amused. She would have rathered that he did not go and mess with her belongings, even if it seemed to be the only way to communicate for him. "And why should I? After all, we just met. And I've paid good money for these chocolates." She would say, not particularly caring to part with her sweets just yet. If anything, she was just as much of a glutton as this fellow in a way.
While she would have shooed him away normally, she didn't really sense any threat from the creature beyond the general unnerving way that he acted. Still... she could probably squeeze a little fun out of the feller. He wanted food right? May as well burn some time. "On second thought... how about we play a game? You Keramon like games, do you not?" She would ask, knowing that most of them were pretty childish and or simple in nature. "If you play along, I'll give you some of these. Sound fair? I give you something, you give me something. That is how this world works." She would say, shaking the small box of confections slightly.

{ } The cnidarian Digimon twisted his head to the right, a rather literal expression of the confusion he had trouble attempting to dispel, even with his typical set of reaction macros. The girl was resisting, and with such a snobby attitude. Yet the anomalous Rookie did nothing about it; rather than reveal his upset and attack, he developed an interest in her defiant behavior, wondering about the motives behind her riposte. It appeared she wanted to use him. A game, she called it, and the chocolates would be his reward, were he to accept her terms and conditions. While it was public knowledge that most Keramon were rather simple in their dealings, Syntax was not like most Keramon. He knew better. It was a trap, a clever ruse. The odds of deletion were set to one-hundred percent. Syntax did nothing. Instead, he continues to stare at the woman with the chocolates, emerald green eyes unblinking and bulbous, fingers twitching with anticipation for just about everything and anything. At this point, he didn't care if she complied with his earlier demands — the girl was far more interesting now. More static erupted from the viral Digimon's body, corrupting his immediate surroundings with flickers, ripples, and obnoxious glitch effects. Without even looking, he snatched another chunk of debris from the air, cramming it into his maw without breaking eye contact with his new playmate. He may not be smart, but he wasn't stupid, either. Angeli could not help but raise an eyebrow at the unidentified Digimon's silence. Either this one was a cut above the rest or was a bit slow, though she would at least give him the benefit of the doubt. Regardless, looks like she would have to work a lil' harder to get any entertainment of this guy. "Okay fine. That's how you roll. No game."
The disguised Digimon idly tapped her foot against the stone, noting the strange corruption of the enviroment thanks to the Keramon's presense. "How about this? You tell me a valid reason as to why I should treat you differently from the rest of your kind, and I'll give ya the box. One good reason. Is all you need." She would say, holding out the box to show; though not before taking one more of the sweets and popping it in her mouth. She stared back towards the Keramon's blank eyes, a look of mild curiosity on her face.
Wonder what his answer would be, if any? She would try to be civilized, but if he kept trying to push her buttons; she was reserved towards deciding to end this little conflict through force.

{ } She demands a reason behind his actions? The girl was deficient on a mental level, though its severity has yet to reveal itself in full. As of now, her attempts to ascertain logic from a bug in the system, a literal virus of the Digital World, created with no other reason than to cause havoc and mayhem wherever he went, were met with nothing save for a sly chuckle from Syntax. Yet, according to the numerous encyclopedias and databases scattered around the Network, human beings were of naturally limited intelligence to begin with; it wasn't their fault they weren't aware of their potential. But her? To assume that she would obtain a clear, justifiable answer from an abomination like this Keramon was utter folly — no meat-sack worth its weight in blood and bile would have tried something that invariably pointless. Syntax knew exactly who, and what, she really was. His neck spasmed uncontrollably as his antennae undulated in small, waving motions, forcing the female's communication device to serve his whims once more to provide her with a message he took absolute pleasure in delivering himself, as made apparent by his uncontrollable giggling and the genuinely surrealistic contortions he accomplished with his own body. Following the dissonant clicks and various flat tones was another line of garbled dialogue, hidden behind several other "channels" that appeared to have been liberated from one or two musical radio stations. His smile widens as the madness sets in. His eyes are now fully focused on the girl — the chocolates are no longer of any concern.
