THE WATCHERS
NEUTRAL GOOD – GLOBAL OPERATIONS
FOREWORD
"The Seven believed us to be dead. Drunk in their arrogance, we were dismissed as relics of the past, unimportant, obsolete within their lifeless and chaotic dominion of injustice and tyranny. From our predecessors who pledged their lives and loyalty to the Twelve we receive our purpose and carry it out from the embrace of the shadows: destroy Shin-Sekai, and free the Digital world from evil once and for all."
MISSION STATEMENT
"From the undying wishes of those that came before us, we have abandoned our past lives and disconnect with our current selves to becomes something far greater –– we are an ideal to aspire towards, a symbol of hope without a face or name or voice, without identity of any kind. We are specters of a forgotten age, remnants that have returned to strike down evil without warning or mercy. We hide from them. We wait for them. We do not exist to anyone. And we are watching them."
DESCRIPTION
Built from the foundations of a guild of legendary heroes that existed long ago, in an era when the Seven were at the height of their terrible power, the Watchers are a secretive organization of Tamers, Spirit Wielders, and civilized Digimon who, driven by their own motivations, have banded together to pursue a common idea: erase Shin-Sekai and its corrupt influence in order to restore peace and harmony to the Digital World and its inhabitants.
Originally, the Watchers were brought together by the last surviving member of this now-defunct league of champions, a mysterious Spirit Wielder operating under the alias of "Takumi". However, a recent string of chaotic events led to infighting and instability within the group, forcing the emergence of an enigmatic warrior and Tamer known only as the "Red Mantle" to step out of the shadows of obscurity and into the Watchers as their undisputed leader.
It is hard to classify the Watchers into a specific category or grouping, as their agenda is largely heroic in its basic principles. Some claim that they are a sect of warrior-monks who have abandoned their aesthetic ways to pursue a cause higher than themselves, while others are convinced that they are an expansive underground network of intelligence gatherers and espionage operatives looking to destroy evil from within.
In truth, they have transcended such limited frames of perspective and exist solely as one thing, and one only: they are an ideal that inspires hope in the weak and defenseless, a symbol of justice that wicked hearts cower in fear before. They are whispered of with an air of caution and secrecy –– one never knows if an operative of the Watchers may be observing their every move.
And they are everywhere, yet simultaneously nowhere. Their existence is a rumor spread by word-of-mouth, a bedtime story told to baby Digimon to keep their spirits elevated in these dark and trying times.
We are "them". We are "they".
We are watching.

AREA OF OPERATIONS
As their name intimately suggests, the Watchers are widely spread throughout the Digital World, having at least one or two branches operating in every major city with the occasional surveillance outpost situated in the more remote corners of the planet. Their main headquarters, Amahashi Temple, is hidden deep within the densest regions of the Nanosphere Forests; reaching it becomes next to impossible once the vegetation becomes too thick to navigate through on foot.

EQUIPMENT
▶︎ VESTMENTS OF THE WRAITH – As many view the Watchers as nothing more than an urban legend, they have taken advantage of their cryptic existence by creating for themselves a series of ornate iron masks carved with scrollwork patterns that are identical between every piece made, adding a black cloak and hood to create the deceptive illusion of a singular, tangible entity that can appear wherever, whenever. Donning the Vestments of the Wraith conceals the wearer's physical characteristics behind a unique, passively functioning image-masking program, obscuring important details such as height, weight, size, and even gender once the cloak itself becomes active, which results in the creation of a startling visual effect that suggests the operative is something entirely non-human in nature; black "fog" billows from beneath the cloak, and the space surrounding this "creature" seems to warp and twist in its presence. The mask itself is only as effective as the wearer's ability to ensure it is never removed from their face, as it bears no special data encryption of its own.
▶︎ MORPHEUS GRENADE – This item is unlocked once ten members have been recruited. Each member is given a single, round, black capsule the size of an average golf ball for use in emergency situations. This innocuous little ball is filled with a synthesized chemical liquid that, upon exposure to oxygen, instantaneously converts into a cloud of thick, grey smoke that covers a 25-foot area within a matter of seconds. Furthermore, this chemical compound has been spiked with a large but nonlethal dose of narcotic agents that will force any who breathes it into a deep slumber for two rounds. Usage of the Morpheus Grenade is restricted to once per thread, but will instantly refresh the member's Team Ability if it was disabled at an earlier point.
▶︎ EYE OF THE SEVEN VIRTUES – This item is unlocked once fifteen members have been recruited. Each member of the Watchers are given a special jeweled pendant practically brimming to the edge with warmth and energy. Each gem is synthesized with a portion of the wearer's own data signature to prevent unlawful usage in the wrong hands, making them truly unique in every way. These crystals are a rare and ancient defensive program taken straight from a mystic tome describing numerous protective spells and enchantments, this one being the strongest currently available in the modern age. When positive intention is channeled into the glittering gemstone around the wearer's neck, they can summon a resplendent barrier of seven individual layers between themselves and any incoming projectile attack directed at them, utterly nullifying it and any damage and effects that would have been received in the process, regardless of its strength level. The amount of energy required to catalyze such an overwhelmingly powerful defensive program consequently renders it usable once per thread.
TRAITS AND ABILITIES
▶︎ A HERO EMERGES – (Trait) The Watchers are known not only for their secrecy, but for their ability to appear in a moment of crisis when their help is desperately needed. Upon entering combat specifically to defend a victim in peril, the operative receives a 50% boost to all defensive parameters for the battle's duration.
▶︎ ELEMENT OF SURPRISE – (Trait) This Trait is unlocked once eight members have been recruited. When outnumbered in a fight, operatives of the Watchers become far more cunning and deceptive in their tactics, and are able to take advantage of weaknesses that even their enemies aren't aware of. In a battle where two or more foes are faced against a single member of the Watchers, all enemies will receive 50% more damage from the lone operative's attacks.
▶︎ PRESENCE CONCEALMENT – (Team Ability) This Team Ability is unlocked once twelve members have been recruited. Infamous for their elusive nature, the Watchers capitalize on this by adopting the secret techniques of ancient monastic orders past, ultimately giving them the ability to suppress and conceal their full power, and therefore their presence, from those around them. Up until the moment an operative enters combat, they will exert an aura of unimportance and irrelevance; they are flies on the wall, observers in a world that continues to move on without them, rendering them virtually nonexistent in every way. Once combat is initiated, however, this ability is immediately disabled for the remainder of the thread. Affects the operative's partner Digimon as well, if applicable.
MEMBER ROSTER
Joining the Watchers is not a privilege that is extended to just anyone, as no mainstream source of information is able to verify that the guild even exists; under most circumstances, potential recruits are approached personally by one of the Four Guardian Generals and handed a specific set of instructions to follow regarding their initiation into the fold, with each task fabricated specifically to test each individual's strength, wit, and resolve accordingly.
WN: If one wishes to express interest in joining the Watchers, simply fill out the request form attached below, and we will attempt to make contact with you at our earliest possible convenience.
Bear in mind, however, that a desire to join the Watchers is not a decision to be taken lightly. Once all prerequisite conditions are fulfilled, the initiate-to-be will be given one final chance to make peace with themselves and those closest to them before fully committing to the cause –– because, once an invitation has been accepted, there is no turning back: all records, information, current whereabouts, and even membership status within other organizations the new recruit belongs to (if any) will be expunged in their entirety. They will have sacrificed their very identity and any possibility of a normal life in order to become something far greater than themselves.
Those who are willing to leave their former lives behind are then placed under the protection and authority of the Watchers, given access to the organization's full range of benefits and resources for them to peruse as they see fit, provided they do not conflict with their new benefactors' anonymous status and directives.
A bit of fair warning: any attempts made to disclose one's association to the Watchers to anyone, including those formerly seen as close friends or family, will result in immediate expulsion from the guild and a subsequent burn notice attached to their head, forever stained with the disgrace of having betrayed the greater good for the sake of appeasing one's selfish desires.
The Watchers are divided within several member categories, each with their own duties and responsibilities to carry out. Compiled below, for the sake of recording purposes, are a comprehensive list of all Watchers personnel and their standing within the guild.

THE GUILD LEADER
Commanding the Watchers from the shadows is the Red Mantle: a seasoned warrior and veteran Tamer that only a very small number of people know anything about, as he keeps all of his activities entirely under wraps. Though his interactions with the Watchers are extremely rare and just as brief, his word is the only word that holds more weight than the Grandmaster and his Four Generals combined –– in short, he calls all the shots when it becomes absolutely necessary for him to speak his mind.
THE GRANDMASTER
Known only as "Takumi", this elderly Spirit User is the the undisputed founder of the Watchers, but merely serves as a political figurehead and mentor for those beneath him. In the Red Mantle's perpetual absence, he oversees the operations of the secretive network of spies and rebels and serves as the bridge between the Watchers' enigmatic leader and his appointed Four Generals, delivering orders to them at his behest. "Takumi" (NPC, played by Hero)
THE FOUR GUARDIAN GENERALS
Serving the Grandmaster and, by extension the Red Mantle, are four individuals who were hand-picked to enforce the will of the Watchers, and are generally seen as the ones who run the guild from a political and military standpoint. They all exist on equal footing with one another in regard to the strength behind each seat's voice, conducting their affairs with an atmosphere of modicum, trust, and spiritual honesty. Each of the Generals' positions are symbolically attached to one of the Four Holy Sovereigns, with each seat of command itself in charge of three Lieutenant positions of their own. Often accompanied by an Agent or two, and are also responsible for recruiting new members to the cause. THE TWELVE LIEUTENANTS
Behaving as the meat of the Watchers' strength are the Twelve Lieutenants: a regiment of officers that are split into four divisions, each headed by one of the Four Guardian Generals. They carry out the orders delivered to them from their superiors, confident in the knowledge that their judgement is for the betterment of the Digital World and all of its inhabitants. They are expected to engage in missions whenever possible to further the Watchers' cause and bolster their position as an organization, and are also responsible for carrying out the guild's very purpose of exposing and eliminating corruption through the arts of espionage, surveillance, and subterfuge. THE FIRE DIVISION
Symbolically attached to Zhuquiaomon, the Crimson Phoenix of the South, who is associated with the season of summer and the element of Fire, the color of red, and the aspect of knowledge. As a totem of passion and drive, the Fire Division are largely composed of individuals brimming with both vitality and, more importantly, a heightened awareness of one's position in life –– even we, who have mastered the creation of fire, know what happens when you get burned through careless direction of one's energy.THE WATER DIVISION
Symbolically attached to Ebonwumon, the Black Tortoise Sovereign of the North, who is associated with the season of winter and the element of Water, the color of black, and the aspect of faith. Considered a totem of longevity and subsequently experience in the ways of the world, the Water Division is largely composed of people from all walks of life; from warriors who have seen the worst humanity has to offer, to erudites that merely wish to understand the right way to uphold the greater good. THE WOOD DIVISION
Symbolically connected to Azulongmon, the Azure Dragon Sovereign of the East, who is associated with the season of spring and the element of Wood, the dual colors of green and blue, and the aspect of propriety. Considered a totem of good fortune, the Wood Division is largely composed of people who belong to the lower common denominator; they are the diamonds in the rough waiting for a chance to shine in the light –– for it is often the modest and noble of people who possess the deepest wells of personal fortitude and conviction.Row 1 column 2 | Row 1 column 3 | |

THE METAL DIVISION
Symbolically connected to Baihumon, the White Tiger Sovereign of the West, who is associated with the season of fall and the element of Metal, the color of white, and the aspect of righteousness. As a totem of protection, tigers are often revered as guardians, and that is what the Metal Division is largely composed of: individuals who have devoted themselves to the benefaction of everyone and everything. Life is sacred to these people, and they wish to share this wonderful gift with all –– and that desire to defend the sanctity of life makes them truly powerful.THE AGENTS
Agents of the Watchers are Digimon who are either mercenary in nature, having been hired to provide their services in exchange for coin, or have allied themselves to the cause out of mutual understanding that the Digital World is in dire need of salvation. Their contracts are overseen by the Grandmaster himself, and many report directly to him or the Twelve Lieutenants for orders. NEW RECRUITS
Listed here is a basic compilation of those who have either been actively recruited by an existing member, or hopeful operatives who wish to freely join the ranks. Either the Leader of the Watchers, Red Mantle , or one of our Four Generals (Elise Von Eisenberg , Water, Wood, Metal) will notify all expectant subjects as soon as they possibly can.
