An Unexpected Catch [Social, Odette]

Odette looked at the men, continuing to order them around. ''The gym will go in the lower section of the building. You!'' she started and looked at another group of men. ''I want the kitchen and dining area like this.'' she spoke in her cold and rather enticing accent. She was serious business when it came to things like this, thanks to her sister and family. She didn't want to seem like a total bitch, but when it came to structure/buildings and their ability to stand for a long time, she had to be like this. When it was time to take charge of something, she wasn't much afraid to do so. ''I want a Jacuzzi large enough for twenty men in the lowest part of where the bathing houses will be.'' she then ordered. She had to get Hyde out of her head as she felt warm. She hated the fact that most guys that looked interesting to her, gave her this feelings. 'Fuck...' she thought. 'What is it, Odette?' Chiwa questioned as a spiritual her looked over at Hyde. 'Oooh, him?~ Do you like him?~' she teased. 'I don't even know him...I'm just helping.' she thought coldly to her. The men seemed to do their work, but what should she do about him? Her eye cornered to look at him and then her stomach rumbled. 'Soooooooomeones hungry.~' Chiwa teased. 'Am not...I'll ignore it.' she thought back to Chiwa and sighed, watching all of the guys and their work.

The woman seemed to be a natural when it came to construction. Though some of the things she was having constructed were a little bit, well, unusual for a military installation. A Jacuzzi? Well, this WAS supposed to be their base. Who said they couldn't put whatever they wanted in it? The place was big enough after all, and a relaxed and refreshed army, was a willing and ready army.

Plus the woman herself was just so damn interesting. That flower in her eye was one thing he had never seen before. He had met other spirit wielders, and they had all seemed relatively normal. Was the flower a part of her spirit? Did it hurt? And what about her arm? How did she lose it? Or was she simply born without one? He was about to ask when his own stomach grumbled. Just how long had it been since he last ate? Damn him for getting caught up in his work sometimes. He walked over to the white haired beauty. "I'm heading down to the mess hall for something to eat. You want anything? It ain't gourmet food, but it will do."

Odette continued to order around the men, watching them do their part. She knew exactly what some people would want, both males and females. She ignored the question of his about if she wanted a job. What job was he talking about? Her eyes would corner, hearing him ask if she wanted anything. 'You should go eat! Nomnomnom.~' Chiwa would tease Odette. 'Fine...' she thought and turned straightly towards Hyde. Her pink-red eyes looked at him, her white dress with shorts under, waving to the side as her white long hair would as well. She tried not to feel nervous, but she was. She never seen a guy dressed up like him, look like him as she has seen many guys in her travels.

''S...sure.'' she reponded in a rather shy way, but still cold as her face stayed, showing no emotion. She walked towards Hyde and looked up at him after turning her head to him, signalling for him to show her the way.

Hyde cocked an eyebrow. What that shyness he detected? How could someone keep such a stoic face, and yet be shy at the same time? This girl just caused his curiosity to go higher and higher. He walked past her, leading the way down into the rig, walking past any construction workers. The place was getting a complete overhaul, walls being repainted and plastered. It wasn't long before they reached the mess hall, originally for the original workers on the oil rig. Some of the construction crew were already there, having lunch while a couple worked behind the counter, preparing and serving food. Again, nothing gourmet, but certainly not garbage. He walked over, grabbing a tray for himself, one for Sable, and handing the last for Odette before he started getting his own food. Some fried chicken, some beef, some steamed vegetables. A standard meal. Once he had his food, he headed for an empty table, pulling out his flask as he waited for his dining companion to join him.

Looking at him, she would then look forward while he was leading the way. After he went, she would follow quietly. Her eyes wandered and looked at the men she was passing, but they didn't get any shyness from them so why this one? There were only so many males that made her shy in life. Was it because she was picky? Was it perhaps that she only gets shy around interesting men? Sighing softly she continued to follow him and then saw the food. 'Not a gourmet sure...but this looks amazing.' she thought as her stomach rumbled. 'Go eat!~ Don't embarrass yourself now, Odette.~' Chiwa teased in her girly voice. As she was spacing off a little she would then feel a tray given to her. Shaking out of her thoughts she would grip the tray, go towards the food and grab a few things. 'No salad? It's amazing with fried chicken...' she thought having those watery anime eyes within her thoughts. As she emotionlessly grabbed for food she would stack her tray with two fried chicken breasts, mashed potato's with gravey, wedges, some broccoli, carrots and her fork and spoon. Turning towards Hyde, she would walk towards him. Though that was true, she could feel and see eyes looking up and down her body. 'W-why...are they looking at me.' she thought feeling somewhat disgusted in a self-worthless way.

Slowly she would sit down, being in front of him she would grab a carrot and shyly start eating it, not knowing how to start a conversation with him.

Hyde was quiet for a moment, watching her as she came to the table and began eating. Though there were the sounds of conversation going on around the hall with the other workers, the silence between the two was almost deafening. Sable sat down at the table besides Hyde, her plate filled with some beef, carrots and a dessert. Hyde knew he had forgotten something. Well, he'll go back and grab some a little later.

He had so many questions, but didn't know where to start. Though he was fine with his missing arm and eye, he knew others would be sensitive about that sort of thing. Normally Hyde didn't care, but with this one...

It was Sable who broke the silence. "Miss Odette? A quick question. Um, is that flower actually in your eye? Or is that some sort of fashion accessory?" Hyde almost turned to scold her, and the only thing keeping him from doing so was his own curiosity about the strange plant.

Odette would slowly eat the carrot as dead silence was among them. After that she would pick up her fork and poke at her fried chicken to then pluck a piece, slowly putting it in her mouth and nommed it. Something felt off as he was quiet too. Was he afraid to say anything? Did he not want to really talk to her? If so, why did he invite her? 'Stop thinking so much on it!~ Try to enjoy a mans company for once, instead of your sisters.' Chiwa scolded her within Odettes thoughts. It was true though, she needed to talk to more people...

As Odette was about to say something, his small digimon spoke. She questioned about her eye, the flower in this case. Her eyelids lowered as she had her eyes half closed. She looked down at her food as she thought of how to respond. ''The flower is my eye...'' she coldly responded and continued to then eat. She was shy, but she was also blunt. She knew that someone would ask about it someday. It was indeed a flower for an eye, how common was that, it wasn't...

Well, Hyde had honestly been hoping for a little bit more of an answer than that. The flower was her eye. He already figured that out. "So, why is it there? I mean, I've seen a lot of crazy shit in this world, but someone with a flower for an eye has not been one of them. I mean, sorry if it's a sensitive subject, but as a man of science, I have to admit I'm kind of curious. And don't worry," he reached up and tapped his own eyepatch with his artificial hand, "I know what it's like to lose a piece of yourself. So no judgement on this end." He took the time to then glance around, making sure nobody was listening in. The rest of the workers wisely kept to their own business.

She gave her answer, was that not enough? She listened to Hyde speak this time though, making her semi-shy. She gritted her teeth as she stopped eating. Putting her silverware down, she looked down still, thinking. Why does he want to know so bad? For science?! She glared a little at the table as she clenched her hands into a fist. 'How about I screw a pin into your eye with a flower that will grow veins to your brain and then you'll know...' she would think coldy. 'Now now, Odette...He's just a curious man.' Chiwa scolded cutely. Her face stayed emotionless, even when she was annoyed. Slowly letting go of her anger, letting her fists relax and letting go. ''It's not worth knowing..Neither am I worth knowing.'' She coldly spoke as she gripped her tray, stood up and turned away. 'What was that?! That was a bad play.' Chiwa freaked. 'That was your chance to talk to a guy!' she continued. 'I'm not worth knowing...and last person I told, I was looked as a freak and crazy.' she responded to Chiwa within her thoughts. Walking away she would wonder if...maybe he was someone who would understand. Yes, he had a missing eye too, but...hers sounded completely crazy and she felt not worthy to be known.

Ok, Hyde had definitely touched a nerve there. Not worth knowing? What the hell was she on about? As she got up to leave, Hyde quickly got up to follow her. "Hey! Wait a minute!" he called out, following her out of the mess hall. Sable moved to follow him, until she saw everyone else in the room looking at them. "Alright you bums, nothing to see here! Get back to your own business!" They didn't need to be told twice.

Outside of the mess hall, Hyde managed to catch up to her. "Whoa whoa, hold on! Ok, I get it, the flower's a touchy subject. But can you blame me for being curious? I mean, an intelligent french beauty missing an arm and an eye (two things I happen to be familiar with myself) suddenly turns up in my base out of the blue, and you think you're not worth knowing? Look, I don't know who fucked you over horribly in the past, but I can tell you now, that's a load of crap! You're probably one of the most interesting people on this platform right now!"

Odette would continue to walk, her eyes lowered to the floor in a somewhat glare. She could then hear him talk, making her heart skip a beat, stopped walking and listened...

"Whoa whoa, hold on! Ok, I get it, the flower's a touchy subject. But can you blame me for being curious? I mean, an intelligent french beauty missing an arm and an eye (two things I happen to be familiar with myself) suddenly turns up in my base out of the blue, and you think you're not worth knowing? Look, I don't know who fucked you over horribly in the past, but I can tell you now, that's a load of crap! You're probably one of the most interesting people on this platform right now!"

Her heart skipped again as she listened to him. He spoke to her in such a way, complimenting her? '...Beauty? Beautiful? I....' she thought as she never thought of herself that way. She wanted to laugh a bit, but couldn't. For some reason the words he was saying to her, made her feel warm and blush, but some pain to the heart. Was it because she didn't think so herself? ''I...'' she started and turned around to look up at him. Her eye of pink-red would shine a little, but no moisture as there were no signs of tears (not even close to it) due to her flower eye. ''Do you...really think those things?'' She questioned a little softer, but still cold as he looked straight into his eye with her emotionless facial expression. If looked close enough...one could tell she was serious and pained.

At least his words were getting through to her, as she stopped and turned to him, questioning him on whether that was true. Though she remained cold and level, he couldn't help but sense a little...something beneath that. And her eye. Was she in the verge of crying! But there were no tears. Hyde merely stared back at her. "Yes. I do. I mean, seriously, has no one said anything like that to you? I mean, ok, sure the flower could be a little off putting to those who haven't been through any of the crazy crap this world can provide, but really, that just makes you stand out more. Sure, there are plenty of pretty French girls out there, but how many of them have a flower for an eye, a missing arm, and can order an entire construction crew around like that just seconds after meeting team? Just one. You! And THAT, right there, is enough to make you one of the mot interesting humans in the digital world right now, and that's compared to many, MANY tamers and spirit wielded I've met. Trust me when I say this. This world is not for boring people. You, are not boring."

Meanwhile, Sable had stepped out of the mess hall, and was watching the two talking to eachother.

She felt shy, but couldn't show it. Her emotions were devoured by the flower as if it had to be 'unlocked' to show her real emotions. No matter what though, she couldn't cry no matter the situation. She listened to him speak a mouth full of words. No matter the case, it was sweet of what he was saying. Even though that was true, she felt otherwise...she felt un-worthy. It was as if she had to prove some knightly way, to feel worthy. So she was only interesting because of the cursed flower that was her eye? Odette was unsure on what to say.

'Say something, Odette! He's complimenting you.~' Chiwa spoke within her thoughts. She knew he was, but part of her couldn't take the compliments. Her pink eye looked away from him as she kept her emotionless expression. Even though it was true that she wouldn't take any of his compliments, she should say thank you and sorry for the way she acted. ''I'm...sorry for the way I acted. The way my arm and eye became no longer existent...was no normal case.'' she speaks in her cold manner and turns away. ''And thank you...Hyde.'' she spoke, paused and spoke again, speaking just his name with a hidden small smile.

Well, at least she wasn't running away anymore. Though it was kind of hard to tell how the girl was feeling right now. Damn stoic people. Would it hurt to crack a smile or something. "Hey, don't mention it. If they're touchy subjects, I won't pry. Besides, I know what it's like to lose parts of you. Not exactly sure if mine could be considered normal or not myself. But hey, I don't let it get me down." And with that, his words trailed off into silence once again, just what were they going to do now? He was trying to think of something to say, something to stop her from walking away, but what? Meanwhile, Sable watched and suppressed a giggled. There was something about watching the pair of them talking to eachother was kind of cute.

She stood there, listened to Hydes words as she crossed her arms against her chest. Her back was still turned towards Hyde as she was looking towards the exit. Something was bothering her, he asked her something before, didn't answer, but what was it? 'Something about a job, yea?~' Chiwa spoke within her thoughts, making her nod a little. ''What job were you talking about earlier? Or was the ordering it?'' she questioned. ''Is that all then?'' she questioned while turned a little to have the upper half of her towards him a little, to look at him. ''shall I leave then so you can get back to what you were doing?'' she questioned, giving him her usual emotionless expression. Part of her wanted to express her feelings, her somewhat happiness that she was noticed, in a good way, but she couldn't. Chiwa would just watch as she wondered what will all happen next. What will he say to Odette? Or would this be the last words of exchange?
