An Unexpected Catch [Social, Odette]

Hyde blinked as he remembered. "Oh, right, the job. Yes. Well, I was thinking, the company is always accepting new members, and I'm getting the distinct feeling someone like you would fit right in." He began walking around to get in front of her. "We're a mercenary company, doing jobs and fighting battles for profit. We accept all sorts. Tamers, spirit wielders, lone Digimon. And if anybody gives you any crap, well. You have my permission to punch them. I'm sure someone of your talents can go far in this business. What do you say?" Hyde honestly found himself hoping she would say yes. He didn't know why, but he just liked having her around.

Odette waited as she was still looking towards the exit. She didn't want to leave and she wanted to know what job. It could honestly entertain her while her sister was busy and so they didn't travel for nothing. She heard him talk about his company or in this case, group and spoke about her joining. 'Me join something? But...I'm not worth...I'll be in the way.' she started to think. 'Don't worry!~ Maybe you can make some...what do you humans call it...Oh right! Friends.~' she told Odette. Her eyes than followed as she saw Hyde walk in front of her. Her face was warm, but her face would appear emotionless to Hyde. Her spirit, her cursed flower was the cause of her emotions being taken or so she thought. He seemed to be really into it, his face was being read as him wanting her to join, but why? Her eye of a pink-red jewel would look up at him. ''Fine...I'll join.'' she spoke in her cold voice, looking away. She felt somewhat shy and oddly she hated it and liked it at the same time...

A small smile spread across Hyde's face when Odette accepted his proposal. He had a feeling she would make a great addition to the team, especially if her leadership skills were as good as she demonstrated. Suddenly a small cheer came from behind them, causing Hyde to look over her shoulder and see Sable bouncing up to them. "Awesome!" she cheered out, "Welcome to the group newbie!" she stopped by Hyde's side, looking up at the white haired spirit user. "Of course, to be a part of this team, you need a code name. You know, for secrecy and such." She brought her hand to her chin, pondering for a moment before an idea struck her. "Ok! How about, hmm, Floral Diamond?" "Erm, you sure about that?" Hyde spoke up. It was already established the flower was a bit of a touchy subject. Sable turned to Hyde. "Well, what do you suggest? French Diamond? Cold Diamond? Aqua Diamond?"

Odette looked at Hyde as she would wonder on little things. Her mind went from cold and serious to girlish and thought of what typical girls would think when it comes to a guy. She had thousands of questions, some embarrassing, some serious and some that would increase her interest or make her not care anymore. Her face looked same though, emotionless. Her eye showed different though as honestly, that was the only way to know how she was feeling, unless they weren't good at reading emotions. Her eye looked towards the chess piece as she started to talk about some name. ''Floral Diamond is fine...'' she simply spoke and then looked back at him. ''It's fine. The...codename is fine.'' she speaks and looks away again. She wanted to talk more with him for some reason, but not while standing and here...Odette couldn't really ask as she was too shy...She would just have to wait it out.

Hyde felt a little relieved that she didn't seem to mind the codename. Though with her cold demeanor, it was almost impossible to tell whether she actually liked it, or was simply tolerating it in order to put an end to the conversation. Though Hyde was not going to allow that awkward silence to fall onto the place again dammit! He would find a way to keep the conversation going! "Well, if you'd like, I can show you were the living quarters are. You know, just in case you wanted to stay here for any reason. I had them work on them first, so they should be livable. This way."

He gestured for her to follow him. "I kept the living quarters somewhat scattered, just in case this place is attacked, we don't all get hit at once. Upper levels, lower levels, different corners of the rig. Tell me, anything in particular you're interested in? Ocean view? Higher up? Lower?"

Her eyes looked at him, thinking, daydreaming as she multi-tasked on listening to him talk. Walking forward, each step of her shoes would be silent. Her dress would wave a little as each stepped would make her hips sway. He talked about how the living quarters would be available to live in, to stay for however long a member wanted to. 'So we get our own room...I see.' she thought as she was thinking about it. If there were interesting guys out there like him, it'd be worth the stay. He questioned on what she wanted or would be interested in. She thought for a second, looking away. 'A room by -. No..' she thought and then looked the other way. ''higher up, ocean view, built-in bathroom, balcony with some gardening stuff.'' she spoke simply and then wondered, looking up at him. ''Are you living here?'' she spoke in a rather more softly way in which came out of no where. It was like silk being touched from the tip to the end, sliding across gently. Her french accent still could be heard, but after that she noticed as she looked down. 'My voice changed again on its own...' she thought. 'It'll be okay.~ Your soft voice is attractive anyways! It swoons the males in which thats why you've had offers. You keep rejecting though.' Chiwa spoke within her thoughts...as she continued to walk.

Hyde nodded as Odette listed out her requirements. "Upper levels, ocean view, bathroom and balcony with some gardening stuff. Gotcha. I think the north eastern corner has a room free. Got a good balcony and such, you would have to bring in the gardening tools in yourself."

Then she asked if he was living here and Hyde paused. The question himself didn't stop him, but rather the tone of voice used. It was different, compared to her usual cold demeanor. He glanced back at her curiously, only to see her looking down. Was that just his imagination? "Erm, yes. I am," he answered, "My quarters are there," He pointed to the building in the center of the platform, "Near the main command area. Makes sense, since I'm the founder at all." Still curious about her change in voice, but not going to question it, he continued walking.

"So, do you like gardening?" he asked, "Because I was planning on including an indoor vegetable garden on base, make sure there's a food supply in case we ever get cut off."

She felt somewhat embarrassed about her voice changing. She could even tell that he was looking at her. Was it that weird? She wanted to somewhat tear a little out of embarrassment, but could't as the flower would devour them all. Her facial expression stayed the same as they would continue on. He was supposedly staying in the center, so it would honestly be easier to get to him no matter what side of the building she picked. She nodded to everything else as she was honestly thinking on what to say after that. ''I-I'm sorry if my voice was strange to you.'' she spoke in her regular cold tone. Deep within she would sigh in relief that it didn't change on her again. 'Why so nervous Odette? You've never been this careful before with words.~' chiwa teased as she would giggle at Odette. ''So what more do you plan on putting in here?'' she questioned to get the silence to disappear between them. She hated to feel like things were getting awkward..

Hyde paused when Odette apologized for the change in voice. This woman was definitely a strange one. "No need to apologize," he replied, "There's nothing wrong with your voice." She did have a nice voice, he was just getting used to hearing it in those cold tones. Thankfully, she changed the subject. "Well, you know the usual. Training halls, shooting ranges, storage areas. The well this rig pumped from dried up, but I think it's still down there. After the rig itself is done, I might make it into a bunker of sorts, in case the rig gets hit hard and we need to evacuate."

Eventually, the three of them reached the south eastern corner of the rig, entering the building and heading to the upper levels. It didn't take long to find a room for Odette. "It's a bit bare, so it's up to you to decorate it how you see fit."

Odette would continue to follow, hearing him say that there was no need to apologize. She still felt the need to, but if he thought so...she would leave it at that. After a small moment, he spoke about what will all be here. It seemed that there was going to be tons of things. Some seemed typical and normal for a base to have, but with her touches, there were sure to be even more. Her eye would look at him as they would stop at a room. Her eye would then look around the room and walked a little forward. ''This will do. Thank you...'' she spoke in her cold tone that felt as if it wanted to change, but didn't. She could imagine her princess type bed, her dresser, carpet and all that she could get with her money. Money wasn't a problem for her as it would be for a lot of people. Her parent were all fine and dandy with helping, but then again she had a high paying job. She would keep this job a secret from everyone, including her dear older sister.~

Thankfully she seemed to accept the room, though he just wished he could tell more from her voice. The woman was so damn stoic and calm, it was almost maddening! "Well good.," Hyde spoke up, "I think I'll leave you to get acquainted with the place. I'm heading back down to keep check on the work crew. If you need anything-" Before he could finish though, a sound got his attention. The door closing behind him. He turned around and reached for the door, finding it locked.

"...Sable...Open the door." He could hear his partner chuckle on the other side of the door.

"You've been working yourself non stop on the base. Take a break! Get to know the nice lady!" Hyde growled in annoyance. "Dammit Sable, I'm sure Odette has better things to do than talk to me." "You don't know that! Now make nice with the nice lady!" Hyde sighed. The little pawn chessmon was not going to unlock the door, and he didn't want to rip it off its hinges. He glanced back at Odette, a little embarrassed.

Odette would stand in the room, looking around to plan as she wondered where to put what. She didn't pay attention on what was going on behind her. She heard him talk about leaving her alone, heading back. He then said that if she needed anything and then paused. Her eye looked at the corner of where the door is, hearing a click. She turned herself around to look at Hyde and the door. She heard him then say that she probably had better things to do than to talk to him. 'That's...not true though.' she thought sadly. 'Why don't you say something then! He can't read your mind like I can.~' Chiwa spoke within her thoughts. 'I'm afraid to...I don't know what to say...' Odette responded back to Chiwa. Her eye looked at him, feeling self-doubt and low selfesteem. She had to over come this shyness, she just had to. ''I...I don't have anything to do.''She spoke in her soft enticing tone once more, not being able to control it. Her voice went like this when her heart felt self-doubt and rather down with shyness. Her eye would look away, somewhat blushing as it could be somewhat lightly seen.

There was that tone in her voice again. Hyde knew better than to draw attention to it though. She seemed rather sensitive about it. In fact, she seemed rather sensitive about a lot of things. But here he was, trapped in her room, alone, with her. That awkward silence was starting to descend once again. Just what the hell were they going to talk about though? His mind raced to think of something before his eye fell on her prosthetic arm. She hadn't mentioned the arm the entire time since she'd been here. Well, it was worth a shot. "If you don't mind me asking," he said, gesturing to her arm, "How'd you lose it? Accident? Born without it?" he brought up his own false arm, "I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours."

Being locked within the room with Hyde, she would then turn around to sit against the wall. Her head would be tilted up to look up at Hyde in a curious manner. Not everyone had a missing eye and arm like herself, everyone had their stories. He wondered about her arm, looking at it as he then motioned his own arm, saying that he would tell her about his own. He seemed like she could tell him and they were locked up in the room together, so why not? She would look at her arm in which looked like some Daedric gauntlet. ''It was when I was a child...'' she started to speak, in her rather soft tone, but still cold sounding. ''My sister told me stories of this world...To be it sounded fairytale-ish. I decided to find out myself, took her digivice and hacked into it. '' he spoke next of. ''I was successful, but...in the end a darkness devoured my arm...Getting this instead of going where I wanted to go...'' she would have a small smile as her head tilted down to look at her own arm. What a mess that day was...

Hyde tilted his head, listening to Odette's story. So, she lost her arm in the digital world as well. And had a family member who was here to boot. "Managing to hack a digivice huh? Impressive. Even I haven't had a chance to do that. Granted, not many people would exactly hand over their digivices to begin with." He glanced down at her arm, trying to imagine what it would have been like, having it swallowed up by darkness. "I'm sorry about your arm. It must have been horrible for you." Though something caught his eye. Was she...smiling? He decided not to mention it.

"Well, since you told me about yours, I lost mine in a tournament not too long ago. It was me and my partners against this DATS asshole. That damn monkey blasted my arm with a super charged attack. The he bloody goes and digivolves, paralyzes me with electricity, beats me up when I can't move, and THEN shoves a live frag grenade in my mouth! And to top it all off...!" Hyde paused, realizing his anger was growing as he remembered that day. His hands, clenched into trembling fists. He took a deep breath to try and calm himself. "Let's just say, that was one of the worst days of my life."
