Despair is contagious. It's much like a natural phenomenon, as a matter of fact. everyone despairs...
Notes;; | Only an hour had passed since the fight against Zo had ended and Reikiko found herself back within the sanctuary that was her quarters for the tournament. Kuro had been seated on the spare bed on the carpet next to his tamer's bed, looking worriedly as the girl was laying on her back, seemingly asleep. It was understandable that she was exhausted, especially considering the Shademon's power had been unleashed, and yet despite their victory it was no time to celebrate. The Blackagumon's gaze drifted over the edge of the bed, hearing the soft whimpers and groans of the girl from beneath the blanket, and although both the Shademon and Reikiko had their eyes closed, it was clear that something tragic was going on: Reikiko was having yet another nightmare. A forest-like environment had spread all around her, likely the Nanosphere forest, and silently she and Kuro had been wandering along a unmarked path, a path they knew would be leading them to the Ancient Tree. It was a beautiful place, there was no doubt about that and yet Reikiko couldn't admire or appreciate the beauty right now, all that was on her mind was the nuisance that was chasing her. "Rei!" A boyish voice came from behind her, causing Reikiko to turn around to see the source of it. The jungle boy Adam had appeared, seemingly accompanied by his two loyal companions, the Renamon twins. While a look of anger was in the twins there eyes, the only thing she could see in Adam's expression was a mixture of sorrow and regret, and soon he spoke once more. "Please return to us! Don't let the darkness take you!" The girl couldn't help but sigh loudly, the Shademon's eyes gazing all at the lad while she recalled how often he had preached about wanting to save her, of how he would free her from the darkness and make her embrace the light. "Return to where Adam? I never belonged at your side, I never desired to become a hero." It appeared her words saddened Adam, a hand gripping the broken digivice around his neck while he stepped forwards. "It's not too late Reikiko, I can still save you..." Hearing those words seemingly caused a great deal of amusement within the girl, because she started to burst into a laughing fit, her laughter resounding through the forest when she finally asked in a bemused tone. "Save me from what Adam? I WANTED THIS MYSELF!" It seemed this was the signal the twin Digimon from Adam needed, for they rushed forwards with an almost bestial ferocity, their bodies wrapped in the light of evolution as both of them turned into a Were Garurumon and Taomon. The first one to reach her was the Were Garurumon, the Digimon's leg sweeping down above her. "No Remy, don't!" But Adam's warning came too late, making the girl smirk mischievously as the Shademon's shadows turned solid, a barrier of darkness obstructing the hammer kick that was launched at her, and then a sudden burst of energy came from the shadows, the wind gust knocking the Were Garurumon backwards while the Taomon launched several projectiles at her. Reikiko couldn't help but smirk as the Shademon raised a part of its body before her and suddenly several black tendrils lunged forwards, piercing the projectiles and launching itself toward the Taomon, impaling its body and making Renae collapse onto her back. "Renae, no!" Adam's worried cry was accompanied by a swift rush toward his Digimon, watching in horror as the tendrils seemingly withdrawn from the impaled body of his partner, and yet as she slowly stepped forwards, enclosing the distance between herself and the boy Adam's words ringed through her ears. "What in the world did you become Rei?" Remy rushed back into the battle, several rapid punches being made, but each was defected by her shadowy guardian before Kuro launched a large fiery projectile at it, the Metal Greymon's attack making it be send flying backwards into a tree as it devolved, and finally their confrontation reached the height of its intensity: she stood right before Adam... Even with his Digimon bested Adam seemed to had tried his best to swallow his rage, taking a step forwards as he tried to wrap his arms around her into an embrace. "It will be alright, I'll get you back to normal in no time." Unfortunately it would be the last words the jungle boy would have spoken, for a moment later he found himself letting out a pained cough, his eyes wandering downwards to see a shadowy pike having impaled straight through his chest, a cold and heartless smile upon her lips. "Rei... I... I just wanted... to be your friend..." Tears rolled down the boy's cheeks as the shademon's tendril pulled backwards, making Adam collapse onto the ground as a pool of blood started to gather, and after giving it a final glance she mumbled in annoyance. "Good riddance, you really didn't get the clue all the way to the end..." And yet it seemed her nightmare didn't stop there either, for this time she was in another familiar location: her own home, albeit there was something different about it. Everything had been trashed and destroyed, as if it had been a battlefield, and the bodies at her feet caused Reikiko's eyes to widen in disbelief. "Mama... Papa... Who did this?!" A high-pitched scream followed as Reikiko found herself regaining her consciousness, her breathing ragged and her body feeling surprisingly chilly for some reason. Kuro was looking at her, his eyes clearly showing the signs of concern he was feeling, but it was the voice that resounded in her thoughts that made her shiver slightly. Finally awake are you? Was growing worried if you would survive your first nightmares. She looked sideways, the Shademon's eyes locked onto her own as she whispered hesitatingly. "What... was that?" The voice laughed within her mind before it started its explanation in a bemused tone. That was the result of your body adapting to my existence, in that fight against the Ginger girl you subconsciously merged with me, and in exchange for my power have also started to feed me with your despair. Then those things were only nightmares? They seemed and felt so real! I wouldn't discard them as fantasies just yet~ Those words, those ominous words made her feel a chill run across her spine as she looked at Kuro, silently hoping that she'd find a means to control this Shademon, lest it end up being the one in control someday! Nevertheless, the half finals were awaiting her, and she didn't plan to disappoint the crowds! No, she would need to investigate this matter later, perhaps after she succeeded in her goal for attending this tournament! ----- This is a solo related to Shademon's influence on Reikiko |
Therefore, if it's Despair you consider your enemy, then your enemy is the entire world!
