Name of Mission: The Rumor Mill
Client: Deputy Dave, the deputy D.A.T.S digimon Deputymon
Levels Needed: Fresh
Requirements: non-combat, at least 1 member of any group to take this must be in D.A.T.S
No. of Characters Needed: 1-2
Reward Offered: 10 posts (20 if optional objectives are met)
Plot Description: Seems like something is up. There's been a few disappearances lately, not of digimon but of tamers. Its not uncommon for them to vanish for periods of time but there seems to be a trend, investigate a few leads for Dave, see where they go.
Mission Description: Meet up with Dave. He'll inform you that recently there's been a ride in tamer disappearances in and around Terabyte city. As one of few cities in the digital, and one of the most popular, it's imperitive that it remains safe... As safe as a city that has been attacked by terrorists can be. He will give you a few leads to follow, a small den of Numemon in the sewers, a gang of impmon and devimon from the other side of the tracks, the local shops might also know something. Investigate these sources and see what they have to say.
The Numemon will be found in a gang war. Choreographed dance routines and shit flinging ensues. You will be asked to help the waring factions overcome their differences by their humble mayor, Reginald, who will tell you that he heard about the missing kids and how they seemed to have vanished in the city regardless of what you decide to do. Should you decide to help, you must must make the two sides realize that their constant fighting is only hurting themselves. Give them something to unify behind. Their shared love for choreography and catchy musical numbers might be a good place to start. Should you reconcile their differences, they will reward you by teaching you the song of their people.
The gang from the other side of the tracks will only talk to you if you prove how tough you are. You'll need to arm wrestle their strongest demidevimon. Beating him will require you being one tough cookie, as he is just that tough m8. If you look like you can beat him, he will quietly request you take a dive to allow him to save face. If you do, he'll meet you on the other, other side of the tracks and tell you that the kids all heard about their gang from somebody in town. They'd all come out here, some were tough and others weren't. But they never came back. Beating him however will prove how tough you are. No less than 300 words of arm wrestling will suffice. Once defeated the gang will accept you for being a real tough guy and tell you exactly what you would have discovered if you had taken the dive.
There are many shops in the city. 100 words spent interviewing all the shops (100 words per shop) located in Terabyte city will yield you the information that lately there's been talk about a discount mcburgermons around here. Naturally, there's no way they would open a discount shop, but this rumor has had tamers looking all around for the discount diner. Its odd, because those who seem to get close to finding it are never seen around town again. If you only interview a few shops, you'll get the same answers, you just wouldn't be as thorough as you could have been.
Once you're satisfied, return to Dave. He'll look into what you discovered further. Don't expect any pay, the experience is its own reward.
