The Nanosphere forest... although it had only been roughly around a week that she spend within the Dark Area, it still felt like months had passed since she enjoyed the lush green scenery of the forest. The beautiful tranquility that the forest brought really tended to put the mind at ease, and yet at the same time she genuinely felt a divided feeling toward it. Yes, although the forest was beautiful in its own way, she felt she herself was an foul presence upon its serene beauty. Yes, merely lowering her hand toward the back of her right hand was enough to tell her she was no longer just an ordinary human, or even a tamer within the digital world.
The mark that occasionally pulsed with an eerie purple glow told her enough, a pulse that seemed almost identical to her own beating heart. It brought her a mixture of excitement and concern. This mark, if her assumptions were right had been the reason why she obtained the clue toward the digimental of despair, and Kuro himself did mention he felt more powerful than ever. That was all that mattered, she simply desired power so that she could escape from this feeling, this feeling of despair that chased her as if it lurked within her own shadow. By becoming powerful she would become able to... why was she even chasing power?
The answer seemed to reach a blank slate in her mind, causing the girl to shift her weight lightly against the ancient tree, letting her body slowly slide down against the support as she felt the mark pulse more strongly.
"Why... am I chasing the darkness?"
It was a feeble whisper, but it seemed Kuro heard her, for he stood before her, a paw resting on her knee. The silent message his concerned look shown her was comforting, but it didn't help ease the restlessness of her mind. Why did she hunt those Digimon a while back? Why was she seeking so drastically after the secrets behind the mark? What purpose did her actions held, when she didn't even remember the reason behind them?
Isn't it in order to escape from this feeling?
Once more that sickeningly sweet voice resounded through her mind, her voice as sweet as honey, yet at the same time held a certain feeling that it surely must had been venomous. Yet there was no denying that she was right. Perhaps it was truly a case of submerging herself into the darkness, in the hope of filling the emptiness her heart attained at the betrayal of those she once called her friends.
And then you got people like Adam and Ryuu~ Those sweet little heroes who believe the light can vanquish any shadow.
Yes, Adam and Ryuu had both kindly tried to extend a helping hand toward her, a gesture of their good-will, and while she wanted to believe their kindness was genuine and selfless, a part of her couldn't ignore the desperate suspicion within her heart. those people must had been kind toward her because she possessed something they desired. There was no selflessness in this world! Just like how her classmates only acted kind toward her because of her athletic talents!
And that's where your answer is my dear~ We are doing this so that someday we can make everyone understand our pain. Only by doing this will people learn true honesty, to reveal their true selves to others, and to finally stop those little acting performances! That's right Rei: We're going to make the digital world feel DESPAIR! OUR DESPAIR
The girl grunted softly, shaking her head lightly in the hope of banishing her thoughts from the thoughts that haunted her mind, but at the same time it seemed Kuro caught the scent of something, or someone... sniffing the air for a moment.
"Aneki, someone is..."
Yet Kuro didn't need to tell her, for she felt a unusual warmth radiate from the mark, spreading over her body almost like a mild euphoric tranquilizer, banishing the earlier pain that coursed through her head, and yet as soon as it had arrived it had disappeared once more... Whoever was approaching, her mark had reacted quite weirdly, and it left her curious enough to rise back up from her seated position to await the stranger.
Whoever is nearby, the mark seems to react oddly... perhaps they will know more about it? Doubtful, but it's worth a try...

@ Reikiko Tsukino , Astoria Zenker | ❝ Perhaps the tree of life truly was nothing to behold, just as Pagu had illustrated earlier. At least on the outside, the tree appeared to be nothing more than an over-sized oak with nothing magical or supernatural about it. The wildlife was slightly thicker here, but that was about it. No guardians, no ancient monsters, just a really old tree. It had to be over a thousand years old, at the very least, simply gathering from how thick it was. It really was amazing how many facts could be found within the plant kingdom...facts that Harley mostly didn't care too much about.
"Yeah, well, this is a tree." She spoke to her partner, turning away from the enormous trunk and back towards the forest. "I'm honestly not sure what you expected." She shot the Demidevimon an annoyed look, noticing some movement out in the brush as she did so. "Shut up for a minute." She raised to fingers to the bat's mouth as he attempted to go off on a tangent, silencing him as she listened to the sounds of the wild. Insects, the sound of small Digimon rushing through the leaves and grass, and finally, voices, two of them. She gripped the hilt of the blood-soaked blade she had stolen from the castle, preparing herself for the worst.
Aneki, somebody is... The voice was timid, small, likely coming from a Rookie level - but nothing was certain in this world. As far as she was concerned, a Rookie very well could be a Mega in disguise. She wouldn't make such a mistake again, not until the target was analyzed...inside...and out. She drew her blade, and her partner followed up the action, begin to flock his wings fiercer and bear his talons. Harley and her partner stepped through the brush, gaining sight of the target. A girl with faded lavender hair along with a Blackagumon - without a doubt a tamer. "State your name, maximum power level, and registration number." Her words were cold, though deep down she felt really cool doing this sort of stuff. Commanding authority - simply intoxicating.
Upon exaiming the girl further, she had noticed that she too, had a case of heterochromia - at least if she weren't faking it. This simple fact made Harley lower her guard slightly, that, and the fact that her side was really starting to fucking hurt. She still hadn't received any sort of medical attention, and was likely suffering from an infection and internal bleeding.

Obviously Reikiko initially felt a bit wary about the presence that seemed to dwell nearby. Whoever, or whatever was approaching had somehow made her mark react, so that individual must had been someone special. Especially if she kept in mind the mark was supposed to represent a darker source of energy... then it didn't take long to tie in the thought that this person that was approaching her location was far from a sunshine that was about to shine in after the rainstorm of chaos and insanity she had recently endured.
However, when the owner of the presence revealed herself, she had to admit she had a bit of a mixed feeling about the matter. At one side she was disappointed, having expected a grand avatar of destruction and darkness, but at the other hand... A cursory gaze across the girl's features made Reikiko secretly cheer at the fact that instead of a god of destruction she met a rather interesting, and in her opinion perhaps even cute-looking girl!
Still, the authority that the girl's cold voice carried with it was a bit unexpected, unpleasant even for Reikiko who didn't really had the best experiences when it came to dealing with what she perceived as 'clueless peacekeepers'. Still, the girl demanded some information, causing Reikiko's lips to curve up slightly.
"Now that's a peculiar way to demand an introduction. I'm not certain what you mean with registration code... and if your question about my 'power level' was some sort of test I'd likely reply back with: It's OVER NINE THOUSAND!"
The girl exclaimed cheerfully, yet as she pulled her hands behind her back she hummed along, a bit amused at the start of their conversation.
"Nevertheless, I judge that wasn't the case, so at the very least I'll provide you with a regular greeting: The name is Reikiko~ Tsukino Reikiko, pleasure to meet ya~"
Despite her cheerful demeanor and the playful salute in the form of a light wave with her hand there seemed something peculiar about her behavior, her eyes concealing a shadow, but whether it was mischief, darkness or hidden intentions remained yet to be seen. In the meanwhile Kuro sniffed the air lightly, mumbling under his breath.
"Aneki, the scent of blood lingers in the air..."
Blood? She was fairly confident she didn't get physically injured in that mental battle she had with her own inner-darkness earlier, and Kuro seemed fairly unharmed, what meant the raptor likely caught the scent of an injured prey... or predator? Her eyes wandered from Kuro back toward the sword-wielding girl, the blood stains on the weapon making her speak once more.
"And it appears we haven't been the only ones having our fair share of battles to deal with. However, unlike ours it seems your own conflicts have had a more bloody conclusion. So how about you drop the Officer Jenny act and get yourself patched up? Dunno what you been up to, but judging from that sword and the fact Kuro caught that scent so easily... He might be trained enough to not lash out unless commanded, but I wouldn't say the same of the Digimon that might dwell in the wild."
She pondered for a moment, seemingly trying to think of something.
"Well, I got some water and spare clothing you could use to make a makeshift bandage I guess... better than nothing until you get to the city miss---- Hmm seems you got the advantage~ I didn't get your name yet."
Her gaze drifted over Harley's body once more, seemingly a cursory gaze to confirm if there was any sign of where she was injured, best to know an unknown threat's condition, especially since she had yet to confirm if this would become a pleasant conversation or yet another conflict to add to the list...
Yet as she spoke she could feel the mark on her hand give yet another faint pulse, the brand on the back of her right hand glowing faintly, making her shift her hand back to the side of her body, her eyes locking onto Harley. She had to figure out why the mark was reacting so strongly... Even if she was learning to slowly suppress the haunting thoughts, there was still something peculiar about how she felt such a strange allure to this girl's presence, it was almost as if she was subconsciously calling out to the darkness within her...

@ Reikiko Tsukino , Astoria Zenker | ❝ "Reikiko Tsukino..." She felt a sharp pain in her side, causing her to mumble a string of obscenities underneath her breath, before continuing on, "Unregistered tamer! Do you think this shit is some sort of fucking joke? I am...a fucking DATS agent!" Harley's words stuttered, she gripped her wound and lowered her weapon - she was clearly in no condition to get into another battle. Something about this girl's demeanor unnerved the nocturnal tamer. This girl was cheery, but something wasn't right, maybe perhaps it was the very fact that she was cheery. Fuck. Was she not intimidating enough? Shouldn't she be afraid?
She bows to you. She knows your nobility.
That voice again. It had come to the pale girl a few times in the past, only notably after the crest displayed on her Digivice had changed. She wasn't sure if this was a result of her curse, or something else entirely. "Just accept their help already, sheesh, if they try anythin', I'll tear em' a new one." Pagu spoke, turning his eye to the Blackagumon, "Got it, pal?" The Demidevimon pointed a claw towards the other Digimon, and then swiped his thumb across the bottom of his chin, indicating that he meant to kill him if he truly did try to hurt his tamer.
Let them follow your dream. You will be their messiah.
With a sigh, the tamer took a step forward, falling down upon a stump to sit down. She hadn't the energy to fight, and was finally accepting it. As for the voices, she would deal with those later, choosing to ignore them for now, no matter how they drove in the back of skull. At least the sun was beginning to go down, and her pain was beginning to ease.
"My codename is Nemesis. But really, just call me Harley." She sat her sword aside, impaling it into the ground with a single thrust. "Sorry about the fucking outburst, or whatever, I'm not usually this moody." The girl began to take off her white jacket, revealing her wound to her enemy. It might be a crucial mistake, but if this girl had any medical experience, it couldn't hurt. "Pfft, yeah, right." The bat Digimon chuckled, causing his tamer to punch him lightly in reaction.
"I don't know if you'll be able to help me." The wound was in her right side, and was composed of several deep tooth marks - many of which were still lightly bleeding.

The revelation that the girl was in fact a member from DATS left Reikiko feeling mildly intrigued, in the end the first encounter she had with one of their kin had shown that they were quite different from the usual peacekeepers, and judging from the girl's situation she had to admit she didn't look like an ordinary peacekeeper either!
"DATS? Curious, first that Jeremiah, now you. It's almost as if I'm being stalked by this 'DATS'. Albeit, I don't think you'll be bringing me lunch like he did."
Snickering briefly as the Demidevimon suddenly exclaimed his intentions to 'tear them a new one' the Blackagumon stepped forwards, his eyes set ablaze with a competitive fire. It seemed that the raptor was not one to just take the threat like a meek little prey, proclaiming in a proud and confident tone.
"You're looking for a fight? I'd spill your guts faster than your tamer would lose hers!"
However, it was at that point Kuro felt the air growing a bit more chilly, not due to the weather but because Reikiko's presence was growing colder, the mark on her hand glowing more strongly while she lifted her gaze sideways at him, the sharp glare making him gulp for a second
"Fine... You'll better praise yourself lucky Aneki doesn't wish a fight... but if you dare to touch her I'll burn you to cinders..."
After Harley took off her jacket, seemingly apologizing for the outburst and revealing her injury the girl shook her head lightly, a slightly more serious tone coming from her.
"Don't apologize, I know firsthand that this world can do some weird things to us. Just make sure not to let them control you entirely Harley, either way: pleasure to meet you."
The girl opened her pouch, seemingly pulling out a small bottle of surprisingly clean looking water, and a small roll of bandages while she looked at the injury, leaning a bit closer to inspect the wound.
"Hmm, looks like bites from a wild animal... or Digimon I guess from the look of it. It's still bleeding... surprised you could wield that sword in your current state."
She smiled briefly as she screwed open the bottle cap and started to explain a bit further while dipping some disinfecting cloth onto the water
"Going to tell you in advance, this is going to sting a bit, so try to not flail too much, or sic your companion onto me."
Despite her cheerful demeanor her expression seemed to grow more serious as she carefully started to try to press the disinfection cloth onto the various bites, not only soaking away the blood, but also cleansing each injury.
"Hopefully there wasn't any venom in those bites, sorry, please sit still for a moment---"
She raised a hand toward Harley's forehead, seemingly hoping to see if she had a fever before continuing.
"Going to try to place some plasters on each wound, will stop the bleeding as long as you don't move too wildly."
Although she seemed to be saying every bit of the procedure she was using, as if to reassure Harley, Reikiko finally finished by trying to wrap some bandages around the height of her injury while explaining in a worried tone.
"There you go, that unfortunately will have to do for the time being. I'd suggest finding help in Terabyte and getting some proper medication attention, I would accompany you myself but..."
She raised her marked hand slightly upwards into the air as she sat down beside Harley and spoke with a smile.
"I wouldn't say it be a good idea for me to return to Terabyte right now. Don't worry, I'm not on a wanted list or anything silly like that, more like I got some things that need to be done before I can get back."
Curiously enough it seemed Reikiko had no intention of asking Harley how she gotten herself injured, but it was clear she did hold some interest in the condition of the girl, and after looking at the Demidevimon she asked in a curious tone.
"If you're a DATS agent, does this mean you been here long already, in the Digital World I mean?"
Perhaps this girl might hold the clues she needed to find the truth about the mark...

@ Reikiko Tsukino | ❝ Jeremiah - so she knew him. She hadn't spoken to him in person in quite some time, she wondered if he was suffering or benefiting from any changes like she was. He was never too personal in his messages, talking about the situation, the mission, the details. The pale girl rarely read these details herself, skimming through them and forgetting them shortly after. Details never mattered in the end.
Pagu simply scoffed at the ravings of the Blackagumon. It was something he had heard before, and he wasn't intimidated by anything that hadn't shown its strength yet. Perhaps he was getting cocky, though he fancied that he was simply tired of the same old rants over and over again.
"N-Nice to meet you, too." Harley stuttered as the girl took out a bottle of what seemed to be clean water and several first-aid materials out of her bag. It seemed like this girl really intended on helping her. She still could not understand why - she was a stranger to her. This is something she wouldn't do for another person. Why was this happening? "Yeah, it was basically a wild fucking animal, ya could say. Thanks for this...but you don't have to." Reikiko continued the operation, walking her through it vocally.
Pain is nothing.
The vampiric girl winced throughout the procedure, but didn't show great pain, simply sitting through it as the relative stranger patched her wounds. Her touch was skillful and delicate, though she was still certain none of this would stop any of the internal bleeding. She was right - she needed to see a real doctor, but she quite some distance from any major cities, and getting into the DATS medical bay was often...complicated. Too much paperwork.
The girl began to ask questions - great. "I've only been in this shithole for about a month or so, actually." A vague answer, and all she intended to give. She grabbed onto the hilt of her blade, intending to stand up already, "It's only fair I ask you a question now - why did you help me? What if I was some sort of serial killer? You don't know me." Harley stood up and looked upon her, looking into her eyes, as if she were trying to read her thoughts. A thought came to her head, "That piece of shit Jeremiah told you about me, didn't he?"

Despair is contagious. It's much like a natural phenomenon, as a matter of fact. everyone despairs... Words;; 0000 Tags;; HARLEY MCDEVIA @name @name Quote;; "Danganronpa" by Junko-chan! Template by Kuroya of THQ & GS. |
Harley's reaction, in a way was quite amusing to Reikiko, to the point she snickered for a moment while stashing away the remaining supplies. No, she had actually barely talked to Jeremiah at all during the events at the fight club, so when she inquired rather forcefully about the fact Jeremiah might had spoken about her the girl shook her head in response to the statement.
"I'm afraid Jeremiah didn't enlighten me about the fact he had such feisty yet cute-looking colleagues."
She had finished speaking, recalling Harley's earlier question about why she helped the girl with her injuries. It made Reikiko ponder for a moment, thinking back about the sensation she felt earlier when the girl first arrived. There was no doubt she had a reason for helping Harley, and so she finally explained her intentions...
"Well to answer your first question: A serial killer would have long exploited the openings I been showing to kill me and loot the supplies I possessed. Not to mention your partner could likely occupy mine long enough for you to use that sword to finish the job~"
It was likely a bit alarming how she was talking so cheerfully about the thought of herself being killed, and yet she granted little time to wonder about the matter as she slowly approached Harley, one step after the other as she hummed softly.
"But you're right, nobody acts selflessly, and if they do it's out of ignorance for their true objective. In my case it's because you're fascinating. You see Harley, I'm a bit different from most Tamers, and when you arrived just now..."
She stopped just a few steps away from Harley, raising her right hand to show the mysterious mark on her hand. It was glowing a feint purple glow, one that felt surprisingly warm to her touch, a symptom that her mark started to show ever since Harley came near her.
"Don't know if it's something that happened to you, or if you're someone like me, but this is the first time my mark ever reacted like this. So yes, I have an ulterior motive, but it's quite a harmless one."
She finished her explanation with a brief wink as she stepped back away from Harley, looking her over once more before nodding as if satisfied by something.
"At least you look a bit less like: I'm going to faint any moment now. Guess that means the 'operation' was a success~"
A brief grin lingering upon her lips she couldn't help but ponder once more about what sort of misadventures Harley had been up to.
