It all started in 2040 A.D. What was once an Earth with normal people with limitless potential was exposed to an era that it was far from ready for. The age of the "Talented", as many people like to call them. Who are the Talented? People with extraordinary abilities. From running faster than a speeding bullet to teleporting anywhere they would like to at will. The first one sprung up in Moscow, Russia with the ability to slow down her perception of time. After her, they all began to show up from seemingly nowhere. In Australia, a man who could turn himself into any gaseous form he chose. A woman in Brazil with telekinetic abilities. They were everywhere. Of course, this caused much debate amongst not only the leaders of the world, but all of humanity. The time had come to decide what it exactly meant to be human. Some said they should be left alone, that they were just people, while others said that they should be contained. The "Talented" were no exceptions. Some just wanted to be left alone, but some had bigger ideas. They said that this was a sign that the time had come for the homo sapiens to take their next big step. Before anyone could do anything, catastrophe struck. In London, England One of the Talented, who were one of the extremists that the superhumans should take control, decided to act. He called himself Current, because his power was the ability to control electricity. He attacked the Buckingham Palace, and unleashed the full force of his powers. He got very far, murdering many of the reigning monarchy in cold blood, but before he could do finish off the last 3 remaining ones, he found himself surrounded by the entirety of the United Kingdom's forces. Seeing himself greater than humanity, surrendering was not an option. He died ten minutes after he took them on.
This caused even more controversy amongst the human race. When it came to the Talented, everyone was thinking, "contain or exterminate". The metahumans were discriminated against, some evening being arrested on sight for nothing more but being super-powered. Some of the Talented were even murdered by the civilians who were all let go because of their lies, saying it was self defense. It came to the point where no one even bothered to check their stories because everyone was trying to do everything they could to keep the Talented down. This lasted for almost a year before things really changed. One day in Australia the unimaginable happened. Everyone's phones, televisions, radios, you name it, it was hacked. It brought of a screen, with a caucasian looking man with black hair and a black shirt was shown on the screen. He greeted everyone, seemed like a very nice person, and everyone kind of liked him. He said that for the safety of his family, he said that he would not reveal his true identity for the safety of his family and others he cared about. Everyone was confused. He had already shown his face, why would he think that just concealing his identity would keep him safe? He then began to speak about what has been occurring the past 11 months and 26 days. He spoke about how freedom and choice were important things, and that's what made thing the way they were today. Then he went on, but his tone changed, and he sounded almost as if he was angry. He began to slightly attack humanity with verbs, speaking in such a way that anyone would think he was separating the Talented from the humans. As if they were two different species. He then said enough was enough, and that humanity had its chance. Destiny had plans and humanity was not included. Then, the man fell to the ground, but another figure appeared behind him. He was all black, like a shadow. He introduced himself has Ghost, using an alias. He voice had completely changed. It was dark and rough, he said that today was the start of something that everyone feared since the Moscow incident.
Revolution.
The city then went dark, all the lights went dark and a stormy cloud appeared over the entire continent/country. Ghost said that borders to Australia were closed, and that no one was going anywhere. The transmission ended.
It wasn't long before the recorded message was broadcasted all over the world through hidden parts of the internet. Immediately, the countries began to put aside their differences, seeing a common threat. In a month, the combined their forces for an all out assault on Australia. However, 75% of them didn't even make it to the borders. Now knowing the location of the forces, Ghost had Talents in high places. As it turned out, the president of the United States was killed three months prior, and a Talent with the power of shape-shifting had taken over, and he had the nuclear launch codes. With newer technology in this age, the nuclear weapons could easily make the trip from the United States to Australia. The nuclear weapons decimated the fleets, taking countless lives. The remaining forces made to the land, only to be attacked by a squadron of Talents. With the mission a complete and total failure, and most of the countries vulnerable with much of the military gone, many Talents began to take over with the people trying to defend their homes.
They didn't stand a chance.
It's been a little over a decade since the war ended. The year is now 2053. The powerful Talents have taken over, turning countries into Sectors, each being numbered in the order in which they fell. There are police forces working under the big bosses. Many of which consist of mainly humans who have either accepted their fate or are too afraid to do anything else. The cities lie in ruins with some small run down buildings made, but have had Martial Law forced upon them. Russia was split into two sectors because it was so big and two Talents couldn't sort it out. No one is allowed to leave their sector. Antarctica was turned into a No Man's Land. What had happened was that, towards the end of the war, a Talented with cryokinesis and a squadron of other Talents attempted to colonize the continent, killing the scientists who were already there. Several atomic bombs were fired from multiple countries. The radiation mutated the Talents and wildlife there instead of killing them, turning them into mindless, pale, deformed zombie like creatures. The radiation covered landscape was a hotspot for military operations to create a safe haven for humans when they realized that failure was inevitable. Every trip made there either ended up in casualties, killed by the mutants, or they just froze to death. Everything there was made to kill you. Even Sector Leaders wouldn't dare go to that area themselves. Death is almost certain, as no one has ever made it out since the attack. As for the citizens in regular cities, they aren't really given much attention. As long as they aren't doing anything to try to hurt the sector leaders. The only real cities are big ones where the sector's leader is. Talents working under the sector leader usually ranked by how powerful they are, but the weakest ones are still considered above the humans, so they serve as the leader of each "precinct". There is one precinct in each District and a varying number of districts in each sector, depending on the size and population. The Talents that are neutral, the ones that don't want anything to do with this, are left alone, but are constantly in hiding from the Phantoms.
Who are the Phantoms? In 2049 a resistance group known as the Phantoms were created. They weren't trying to stop the Talents, but rather slow them down in order someone, anyone, to come up with a plan to stop them. When that failed and the Talented came to power, their objective: Kill every Talent they can find. They pick one, gather any information they can on the target, and then take them out. After that, they move on the next. They usually target the precinct leaders and the neutrals. They rarely go after the real threats, the high ranking Talents. By this time, they have killed ten precinct leaders, twenty neutrals, and one high ranking one high ranking Talented. They appear in a flash and are gone. No one asks to be recruited, but they find you. If you decline, they kill you for their own protection. If you agree, then you go off the Grid. It's like you never existed. Sector leaders are aware of the Phantoms, and while many would destroy them completely, they can't find them. Anywhere. They never recruit Talents, and have a device to detect to see if anyone is a Talent hoping to join into their ranks. As for Ghost, he is gone without a trace, no one can find him. He has the power of possession, so he could be literally anywhere at this point. The rest of humanity try to survive. Survive in hopes that one day, these Talented monsters will be put in their place.
