Name of Mission: A wizard in need Client: Haris, a Wizardmon Levels Needed: rookie->champion Requirements: Behave yourself. Reward Offered: 300 bits (& 10 posts if optional objectives are met) Plot Description: Haris, a young Wizardmon has sent his apprentice Impmon to retrieve an old grimmoir from some thieves, however he hasn't returned in a reasonable amount of time. He wants you to go retrieve him. If you can manage to retrieve the grimmoir as well, he's promised to share some of his research on digivolution with you. Mission Description: You will meet up with Haris in a public place, where he will be lamenting his situation. He will task you with finding his apprentice, Judas, an impmon, and returning him safely to Haris. If you can also retrieve the grimmoir, he'll offer to share some of what he knows on the practical application and occurrences of digivolution. He will describe a cave not far out of town where the thieves are held up, and warns you their leader is fairly strong. Once you arrive you will find the cave to be infested by goblinmon, and can hear the cries of a "Bada Boom" followed by explosions throughout the cave, and after fighting through 3-5 goblinmon, you will find Judas fairly hurt behind a makeshift barricade. He is too injured to make the walk back on his own, but he will inform you that the thieves are lead by an exceptionally powerful ogremon, who's used the grimmoir to enhance his strength. He'll demand that you team up and defeat the being. You do not have to. If you decide to, Judas will limp behind you into the fight, as you force your way through the goblinmon to the antechamber of the gave, where a hulkish Ogremon is seen clad in armor. He's increased his strength, health, and endurance to that of an armor ultimate and shouldn't be taken lightly, the grimmoir you seek hangs from his hip. With Judas' injuries the way they are, he will likely die in the resulting fight, which will force you to forfeit all rewards. Judas will continuously find himself in harms way, and the Ogremon will focus on him, as he is weak and obnoxious. If you do manage to slay the empowered Ogremon without Judas dying, you can retrieve the grimmoir and return to Haris with both prizes. Either way, Haris will have a tearful reunion with his student, and inform him that no amount of knowledge is worth the life of another. He will then pay you appropriately. Objective Summary: - Meet up with Haris and get your tasks
- Go to the nearby cave he describes to rescue Judas, and possibly find the grimmoir.
- Save Judas and return him to his mentor to receive your payment
- (OPTIONAL) Defeat the empowered ogremon and retrieve the grimmoir.

Here she was. Back again in Terabyte city. To this day it was still her favorite place, even after the terrorist attack. It was just a place that felt very familiar. It was easy for her to navigate even though she couldn't understand a single word on most of the signs. Of course, V was with her. It was hard to find the two apart for too long. She'd been trying, slowly, to get to know him better. If only to better facilitate team work. The fight with skullgreymon had put her life sincerely on the line. They'd even seen somebody's Digimon "die". It'd been a rough fight and she just couldn't shake the feeling something had changed about them. She wouldn't tell V, but she'd gained a strange mark that rested right over her heart. Hard wasn't the type to wear a needlessly revealing top, so it's probable no one would ever see it besides the orphan. But still. Touching it made her feel cold. It also... It made her heart beat faster. She felt herself touching it every do often, the sudden rush through her body was... Surprisingly liberating. Whenever she did, she thought that back to that Knightmon that could have easily killed her. She and V needed to become stronger. If the digital world was getting more and more dangerous, they needed to adapt as well.
It was the only thing that seemed to make sense. Power.
"What uhhh... What are we doing here boss? Goin shoppin or...?"
"I uhh... I don't know. I felt like we just... I needed to see this again... He brought the whole tower down... If we keep running into these guys we're going to need to be just as strong."
"With all due respect, gravity did most of the work there... But yeah, I getcha... I uhmm... There's something I feel like I should tell ya-"
"Woe! Woe and damnation! Why did I send him off alone! I should have gone with him! Oh of all the wretched, foolish decisions!"
V would be interrupted by the cries and lamentations of a nearby Digimon, apparently human in shape and dress, he looked like a scarecrow... Or a wizard if you used your imagination. |

Indeed, Ari was right. Yana's second impression of Terabyte city had been a hell of a lot better than the first time. Even with the trouble with the Tsukaimon trio, it was far from the gloomy mess of their first visit, hell, it was almost fun even. No digimon lost their lives, even if they had to fight a few, which - after seeing everything that could happen in the Digital world - made her quite happy to feel it didn't. Thus, seeing the sun still shine bright above them motivated the two girls:
"What else is there to see here, Ari?", asked the curious, rather cheerful looking Yana, her eager eyes darting around and taking in her surroundings as they walked.
"Well, there WAS the tower... But there's not much left to see now.", Ari shook her head with a sulemn look as she thought back to the frightening events that had been happening all over the digital world. Back then they thought it to be a one of a kind attack, but after the Skullgreymon they knew that would not be the case. Two places had been attacked, the question wasn't if there was going to be a third, but where.
And Yana knew it too. Even looking at her cheerful face, Ari knew she was hiding those feelings, hiding her anger at all the attacks, and most of all, hiding all the connections flashing on and off inside that brain of hers. She was probably not going to figure it out, but she was defenitely going to try... And Ari saw right through her. In the end, the best they could do was travel and spend time together like this, to know and understand each other better. It had helped them draw power during the battle against Skullgreymon, then it would defenitely help them do it again.
"Araa... Isn't that the girl from the before?", Ari was pulled from her pondering by a familiar figure accompanied by an even more familiar digimon. Yana nodded in agreement as they both smiled. Right now, a familiar face was the most reassuring sight they could ask for, better than a levelled spire.
Haruhi... Right she'd been at that battle against Skullgreymon too. Did she get the same mark as Yana? It felt wierd when she gotten that mark, she hadn't really been attacked or touched by any of the enemies, that damn thing just popped in there. She didn't feel that bad about having a tattoo but that specific one brough a load of bad memories she had no interested in reliving. What was worse, it managed to do that even in a place where Yana couldn't see it.
"Uhm... Haru...?", asked the sheepish Yana, smiling brightly, hoping she wouldn't have appeared in a bad time, "How have you been?"
In between her ponderings on Haru, she hardly acknowledged the ranting digimon, but Ari didn't. Hopefully Vee would still recognize her, even if she was still a Salamon the last time they met.
"Hey..!", Ari greeted the two, mostly looking towards Vee as she promptly nodded towards the Digimon, "What's that guy up to..?"

Haruhi clutched the cold, hard soil in her little hands. The winter cold had gotten to even the ground, freezing it. She didn't care. She wanted to hold them. She wanted to hold them so bad. Clawing at the frozen dust between her and them, clawing until her fingers began to bleed. She was too weak to break through.
Home after home, they tell her to move on. So they move her on but all she wants is to back. Inside she pulls away but she's not strong enough to stay.
Uhm, Haru?
The words snap be back to reality and she wheels on where they'd come from, hiding her shocked and angry expression under her hat and scarf. It was Yana. Who now had a cat. Likely the result of a digivolution. She was getting stronger. Haru could feel it.
She could also feel a little at ease with her, perhaps more than she should. She felt... Happy to be around her. Her proximity was causing that weird mark to make her feel funny... But a good funny.
Yana and her had worked together before. They'd helped people together. Yeah... They'd had fun? It was fun, right?
Killing Digimon with Yana was fun.
"Lost. Confused. But otherwise I'm ok. How about you? Ari seems to be... Cuter? Than before? I don't know what's the right word..." She'd say with an uncharacteristic warmness. Her expression had softened into a polite grin and she'd even loosened up her stance, putting her weight on one leg, popping her hip out, resting her hand on it. "Little too furry, yeah? Also pretty short... But hey, if ya reach up, ya might get them in the knees. So there's that!" V would tease playfully, he himself being just a head taller than the cat Digimon. What he had to tell Haru would seemingly have to wait.
The Wizardmon paced and pined all the while and it was beginning to get on Haru's nerves, though she wouldn't show it. What was his problem? It was rude to interrupt... Maybe Yana felt the same? They usually did, right? The mark On Haru's chest was glowing, burning a dark purple under her shirt, impossible to see.
They were connected, after all. Suffering. All their suffering...
It felt so good!
The blonde drew herself closer toward Yana, a friendly gesture to imply they should go for a walk. Haru wouldn't be miserable if she had someone like Yana around! They could accomplish soooooo much together! They could kill so many Digimon, wouldn't that be fun?!
Haru rubbed her little mark through her jacket. Touching it around Yana made it feel... So warm. She took another step towards her. She was a bit taller than the blonde. Just a bit. She looked... Lean, athletic. Where Haru looked more sporty, Yana looked more... Pretty. Was that the word? It fit, she supposed.
Haru looked at the ground for a moment and realized the two were closer than she'd though. They're shoes were touching. She shook whatever daydream had been clouding her head and leaned around Yana, pointing at the Wizardmon. " He looks like he needs help. You like lending a hand to strangers, right? Let's help that guy... Ya know. If you've got nothing better to do."
Help him. Like they helped Gerry. Maybe Yana will join in the killing this time.

75% Experience until Ult225/300 Posts | The blonde had a contemplative look about her today, more than she usually did, in contrast to Yana's more upbeat curiosity. She felt a lot better now that she ran into somebody familiar... She was still convinced Haru didn't really enjoy her company but merely tolerated it, yet that was enough. Plenty of her friends didn't like her at first either... However, Haru didn't feel as distant as she did last time they met, could it be just her imagination? Other than the whole Skullgreymon thing, they hadn't met anywherelse and at that time there were more important things to do."
"Exploring...! Still a lot for me to see.", she answered, a faintly impish grin escaping her self imposed cool and restraint, "It's okay, I've been confused too... Wierd things happened since the battle at Triton City."
Of course, Ari still had to pitch her two cents after hearing Haru's comment about not knowing the right word for transformation. If she were the type to get technical, she'd just have called it "Digivoluion" and be done with it; but instead, the Gatomon simplified it a bit, her way: "Stronger would be the right word, but I'm okay with cuter~", Ari answered with a wink and a bright smile, more than enough to confirm she was still the same girl was before, if only a bit stronger. Vee's comment however, earned him an amused giggle. Ari may not be the type to get angry, but that didn't mean she was the type to not respond in kind; the very same teaching she'd been trying to drill onto Haru, "Leave it to boys to think bigger means better. Didn't you hear that it's about how you use your size~?"
Indeed, something about Haru felt different... Yana couldn't quite place it, but it was more than simply being less distant. If only she knew the girl a bit better she might have been able to understand it better, but alas that wasn't the case. Instead, Yana just cocked her head at the blonde as she approached her with an absent look in her eyes: Before she noticed, the girl was a mere foot away. Blushing, the taller girl just adjusted her glasses awkwardly as she looked at blonde in front of her, wondering what else could have changed in her behavior since the last time they'd met.
"Haru...?", she asked, looking down into the other girl's eyes with a concerned look. From this close, she finally got a good look at the girl she'd been previously shy to look upon. She was so beautiful... From afar Yana always saw her as gruff and uncaring, but from only a few inches away, she didn't look like that at all! She had a cool, distant beauty about her, so much that Yana didn't even realize she was staring until after she'd been doing it for a while!
She knew that unlike herself, Haru felt a much greater propensity for killing, reassured by the thought that evil digimon would be reborn in a hopefully not evil way. Regardless, she couldn't even being to think to associate this with her likely posession of an evil mark. Yana herself had never taken a life, thus other than a not so unpleasant throbbing, her mark didn't really didn't do anything other than worry her as to what it might do. No voices in her head, no compelling to kill, no nothing... If only she could have associated this mark with the precieved change in the blonde's demeanor... She looked so focused before. Regardless, she still felt drawn to the girl, reminded by the resolve she once displayed. If there was truly something wrong with Haru, she would help her. If there wasn't, she'd just have played the fool for her concern, and that wasn't even so bad a consequence anyways.
Haru eventually answered her earlier question and Yana just sighed; whatever was going on with her could always be figured out later, right? For this reason, she smiled and nodded affirmatively at her suggestion concerning helping people in need, turning towards the wizardmon she mentioned... So that guy wasn't a human at all but just another Digimon?! Impressive...
"Another adventure with you? Count me in~!", Yana looked pretty happy at the suggestion nonetheless, trying her best to stay positive just in case Haru was just feeling sad. Ever since she arrived in the Digital world, she'd come to learn whatever requests she did for other people and digimon always turned into adventures... Why should this one be any different? Thus, she turned towards the wizardmon and asked innocently, "Uhm, Mister...? Do you need help with something?"

Haruhi shook her head as she felt herself return to her senses. Something was completely fine and she just couldn't shake this feeling that she needed to calm down."Another... Adventure?" Haru would mumble curiously. That's what she called it? Before Haruhi could inquire any further V a chuckle to Ari's response, placing his hands leisurely behind his head. "I ain't one to brag but uhh, I never really had that problem ya know? In fact the only time I-ehh, n-never mind... Not really something you need to hear..." he'd say more with an air of melancholy than he would with any sort of embarrassment. Before they knew it however, the wizardmon was on the small group.
The distraught wizardmon turned to the two timers with a sorrowful, yet hopeful clean in his eyes. "Wh-why yes! Yes I do! You see, recently I've come into the possession of a tomb of sorts... A grimmoir of sorts... And-and it's... It had been shortly. It'd had been stolen shortly after I came into its possession. I had... I've sent... I had sent my apprentice Judah, he's an impmon you see, and I'd... I had sent him to retrieve it. I have faith in him... Had faith in him. I had... I had hoped he'd be fine on his own! But... But I dare say I am quite... I was quite wrong. I fear he may be in trouble! The last I heard from him, he'd tracked the thieves to a cave not far outside these city limits! He told me I should come and wait here but I do not think he would keep me waiting for so long! I mean... He is usually so punctual, surely something must have happened! Please, please! You must assist me! Please could you help Judas? If he needs it, I mean... The book is nonimportant compared to his safety! I-i can pay you, surely!"
The Digimon all but begged the duo. He had found himself between the two girls, holding both of their hands in his, causing the two to touch. V looked rather pitifully at the wizard, not quite sure what to make of his stuttering and groveling. He knew Wizardmon was a champion Digimon. If he was so concerned, why not go himself? Could be another Gerry situation, in that he just didn't believe in himself, though he had enough confidence to take on an apprentice? It just caused the cerulean dragon to shake his head and cast a wayward glance to Ari, who seemed to much better with this sort of thing.

The other girl just shook her head and Yana cocked hers quizzically. Something about Haru changed at the moment, it was slight, almost unnoticeable, unless one was insightful like the dark haired tamer, and happened to be looking right into her green eyes. She was curious, she could tell that much, but this curiousity felt more Haru than anything. Yana smiled and nodded, "Hai! It seems whatever happens in this world always leads to an adventure, for better and worse...", she scratched her head slightly at this last part, knowing that whoever you were adventuring with was just as important - if not more so - but too shy to say it out loud.
Meanwhile, Ari giggled, expecting Vee to say something like that with a bit more confidence; the contrast between his words and his demeanor was defenitely funny, but even with the short time they'd known each other, she was already used to his lazy, nonchalant air. She had a playful response all lined up for him, but before they knew it, the Wizardmon had stepped over to their group and taken both tamers hands with a glimmering look in his hopeful eyes.
Smiles faded and ears flopped down at the Digimon's sad but touching tale, he was worried about his apprentice even more than his grimoire. He grasped both girls hands pleadingly, earning a soft, shy blush from Yana when she felt Haru's surprising softness... She expected the girl's hands to feel rougher from all the lonely adventures she always seemed to be on. She found it harder to look at Haru, making it easier for her to focus on the pleading Wizardmon as Ari too drew her own assumptions on the situation.
This wasn't like Gerry's situation... The Guilmon was too weak and broken to even recognize he needed help, while this wizardmon was fritghtened, but focus. Whatever had happened made it sound like he had tried to do this himself, but failed. Perhaps whoever took the Grimoire would be expecting him, maybe they'd even try to use his apprentice as a hostage. Or perhaps there was something Wizardmon wasn't telling them. Either way, neither of these was any reason to ignore the poor digimon; all the mysteries would be explained in due time. Without those mysteries, it's hard to have an adventure anyway...
"Alright. Don't worry, we'll go look for your apprentice.", Ari nodded gentle and reassuringly, looking to Yana first, getting a confirming, resolute nod from her tamer and then looking at the other tamer/digimon duo. Yana and herself had a similar mindset, Ari knew whatever she suspected Yana probably suspected too. She didn't always realize it, or even acknowledge her instincts, not unlike she failed to acknowledge her own anger. It was something she had to work out herself; Ari could help, but she couldn't do it for her. For now however, they had a path set out for them, "Will you two join us then...?", Yana would ask hopefully, her gaze travelling between Haru and Vee...

Holding Yana's hand like this caused Haru to blink quite dumbfoundely at the manic wizardmon and then to Yana. Her hands were... Cool. Cold to touch. It was surprising given how warm her personality seemed to be, though far from terribly unpleasant. If anything it was a welcome change, her dark mark had a way of making her feel like an awkward mix of hot and cold that made Haru pretty uncomfortable. Shed rather willingly choose to be cool, than be powerless and uncomfortable. To that end, the blonde gently wrapped her fingers around her friend's, quietly intent on holding it until she didn't want to.
Wizardmon's story seemed to drag on. His flustered stuttering making it harder for Haru to entirely make out what he'd been going on about. He wanted them to save his apprentice? Fine, say that then. Haru wasn't exactly in the mood for the how or why of things recently... At least not in regards to strange digimon. Ari was the first to speak up, her even, sympathetic Voice volunteering the group to the task at hand. Yana spoke up next, asking a rather dumb question. Haru had been the one to point out the bumblining sorcerer, of course she was going to go.
The blonde orphan tightened her grip aroundYana's hand nonchalantly, seeing the act as something harmless and innocent, lacking implications. "Of course. It was my idea. Its be rude not to take responsibility." Haru would put simply, Vee having to surpress a chuckle at the wording. The quartet was given the location of the cave, and together they were off. Haru keeping a hold of Yana's hand, neglecting to notice she was still holding it. |

Yana let out a surprised gasp, blushing even redder as she felt the blonde's warm hand holding onto hers. It was an odd, slightly awkward feeling but not in any way unwanted. Most of all, her tingling warmth made her feel like the girl she admired didn't actually dislike her as she had grown to think over the past few days. Their first encounter might have been short, and probably meaningless enough that Haru didn't even remember her, but it brought her the will and courage she needed to stand and fight for what she believed in. Before she could even notice it, she had returned her friend's gesture...
Thus she didn't utter a sound or anything Haru might interpret as discomfort, merely adjusting her glasses and glancing her way every now and then with a very schoolgirl-like demure smile on her lips. She twirled her hair with her idle hand as she listened to Wizarmon's final directions, and soon they were ready to head out. Yana just smiled with obvious relief when Haru agreed to join them, accurately pointing out how it had been her idea to take on this task, cheeks growing redder as she nonetheless held the blonde's hand a bit tighter, as if to affirm their partnership on the task to come... That's what Haru meant, right...? Thus, she nodded resolutely and before long they headed off, hand in hand.
Ari apparently found the whole sight oddly amusing, letting out girly giggles every now and then, especially when she caught Yana giving Haru a quick little bashful glance. Yet halfway through their walk, the dark haired girl started struggling with other unpleasant thoughts, a question she'd been meaning to ask Haru for a long time. Unlike the sweet innocence of simply holding her hand like this, this was a serious, unpleasant matter.
Yana didn't want to ruin the mood... But she knew that before long they'd be stuck fighting whatever DIgimon would stand between them and saving Wizarmon's apprentice, and once that was done they would go their separate ways. Haru was the kind of loner who made Yana look like a social butterfly, so who knew when they'd meet again? Thus, she gulped before glancing her way and asking that question:
"Nee, Haru... You were on Triton weren't you...?", she'd wait for the girl to confirm what she already suspected, "Did you... get one too...?"
A vague question, but one any marked tamer would understand...

Haru truly hadn't noticed she hadn't let go of Yana's hand. The cool feel of her soft skin was very comforting, so much so that it just felt natural to hold. Their journey had been filled with Ari's girlish gigglimg, which Haru had attributed to her just being, well, quite girlish. Vee remained largely silent, his lan to tell Haru about his rather glamorous past was weighing a little heavily on him, but her rather others not know. He didn't want to sound boastful, and of course, telling strangers her died once before wasn't going to inspire confidence in any of them. Plus, it was frankly none of their business. Still though, as a firm believer of fate, seeing the two girls hold hands just about the whole way to the cave made the Veemon smile a little. This was... What? The fourth time they'd been brought together? Haru likely didn't notice back in Terabyte, or in the battle for Triton, but he had.
Their walk was only interrupted once by Yana mustering up the courage to ask her the question that was on birth girls minds since the get go. Even still, the question MADE Haru stop in place, her eyes wide for a reason she wasn't quite aware of. If Yana had one too then something was definitely right. The blonde shifted one lip over the other and now it occured to her that she was still Holding the tall dancer's hand. The thought to let it go came into her mind, but that was a bad idea, if Yana had one, she wasn't alone. She never needed to be alone again! They could wollow in their sufferin... Together... The blonde looked around, as if anyone besides the two girls and their digimon were around, tightening her hold on her compatriot's hand, not unlike a lover seeking comfort. "Vee, scout ahead for us, ok? I wanna have a plan... Just ya know... Stay out of trouble." she would say as She tried to keep her composure. Once Vee was gone she turned to face the tall girl, looking up into her eyes briefly before looking away bashfully, an honest blush on her face.
"D-Don't tell Vee, ok?" the blonde would say, almost begging, as she slowly began to roll up the bottom of her jacket and shirt, lifting it up toward her chest to expose the burning little mark that had made its home over her heart. She kept her head cocked to the side, shamefully exposing herself to Yana like this made her feel good. "Y-Your turn..." She said, her voice a mix of a pleading invitation and an urgent demand. They weren't too far from where they needed to be. Best to get things out now, before fate split them up again. |

Ari spent half the trip intrigued by Vee's mysterious demeanor. Indeed she had met him on more than one occasion, but in none of those times did she have a chance to truly spend time with him, not like she did now... The Veemon looked more mysterious than most Digimon she had ever met. Maybe he was just worried about breaking the silence between the two tamers? Either way he was easily the most silent Ari had ever travelled with. It was a welcome change since most boys she travelled with were loud braggarts who seldom thought of shutting up to save their lives. She enjoyed others' company, but not when constant talking drew troublesome Digimon to their location.
Yet, something wierd and unexpected happened as Haru reacted to the other girl's question... As the orphan asked Vee to scout on ahead, Yana didn't figure there was anything wierd about it; not at first anyway. But once the tiny blue dragon wandered away, Yana simply nodded twice with a sheepish air about her, only to grow ever redder when Haru started pulling up her shirt, revealing the mark on her chest. She couldn't even help feeling her heart race a bit; why did this feel a lot more intimate than it really was?! Maybe because Haru was ashamed of showing her own partner that same mark? In the end It wasn't that surprising, it took quite a bit of struggle on her part and an equal share of loving interest on Ari's end for Yana to reveal that same ailment; plus, Haru was proud and solitary, far more so than Yana was or ever would be, so that really shouldn't have come off as surprising:
"Don't worry. You can trust me...!", gulping yet looking on affirmatively, Yana shoved aside her hesitation and readily returned the favor, trying to push aside any wierd thoughts as to why her friend suddenly took that huge leap of faith with her. In the end, it was the warm, reassuring feeling from Haru's hand that helped Yana show the girl what she had more than earned the right to see, so she simply held on a little tighter and steeled herself.
Nodding hesitant but decisively, Yana swallowed her doubt and turned around: Haru would be the first human she ever willingly showed this to. But then, 'show me yours and I'll show you mine', so how could Yana not humour her request? Ignoring her reservations, she tugged down the collar of her school jacket with one hand and lead Haru's so they pulled her hair aside, together, revealing the eerie brand at the base of Yana's neck.
It made her feel tainted, ashamed... Corrupted and evil, like Devimon and his ilk... Blackening her thoughts just as much. But after Haru saw it, even more so if she touched it, everything would suddenly feel less damning. The moment she shared that bond with someone she looked up to, it felt as if there was a huge load off her chest.
While It still made her feel uneasy - though she didn't have almost pull off half her clothes to do it - one tiny glimmer of light shone through: Haru trusted her! This little fact helped her smile and be happy, so much she easily vanquished the unease of showing her Mark of Evil. Soon enough, she had pulled her jacket back up and turned to the blonde with a cumplicit, yet still curious look, "But... Why haven't you told Vee...?", this was probably one of those silly questions Yana asked so often, but sometimes she just had to hear it in her friend's blunt words to understand...
After all here was Ari, watching the whole scene with a look as if she already knew it, yet wouldn't say a word unless either of the girls wanted it. That was just the kind of friend she was, exactly like Yana. Instead, she stopped giggling for once, and merely nodded with a warm, approving look in her eyes. No matter how dark the circumstances, these two lonely tamers were being brought together, and a result a beautiful bond was slowly blooming between them!

60% Experience until Armor Ult 121/200 Posts | Vee pressed on,as her been told to. Why not, right? Sure, Ari would probably have been much better suited for the task, given her cat-like abilities, smaller size, and higher level but he honestly didn't believe Yana, her tamer, knew if cared how powerful her partner would get. She was a lot like Haru in that sense. Though, recently Haru had been giving that a lot of thought. Her near death experience likely had shaken her a bit. If it weren't for luck, or fate, or whatever... She probably wouldn't be here right now. He hadn't been fast enough. That was probably the worst part of all this. Haru was a good kid, lost, but good. He need to remember though that just because he had been a mega, didn't mean he was one now. Haru was likely ruminating on how she failed, when it was really all his fault. He left her alone, unguarded. He hadn't been fast enough to beat that knightmon to his swing. He couldn't really blame Haru, what was she supposed to do? She was a girl with a baseball bat in her first real spot of danger. Panic was natural. He figured once she got over it she'd stop acting so melancholy.
Haru let out ashort, sharp gasp as Yana elegantly brushed her hair out of the way, lowering her top just enough to expose the vile sigil on her neck. She hadn't meant to. Why would she be surprised? She knew she had one... So she wasn't surprised... As her heart beat began to pick up it dawned on her that Yana was showing it to her for a little longer than needed. She was there, awkwardly exposing her neck...
Did she want her to touch it? Kiss it? That would be the right thing to do. Wouldn't it? She wasn't too much taller than herself but she was still tall enough that if Haru wanted to kiss her mark, shed need to stand on the tips of her toes. She let her free hand slowly come to the nape of the russian's neck and she hesitantly placed two fingers over the mark, gently touching it.
Upon the moment of contact Haru's heart skiped a beat, her eyes widened and her toes curled up in what she assumed was pleasure. She took a sudden, reactionary step closer, squeezing Yana's hand that she still hadn't released. She opened her mouth ever so slightly, as if to ask a question but no words came out. What was this? Why did it feel so good?! She continued to run the tainted flesh, feeling something dark clawing inside of her. It was the same as hers. The same darkness. It felt so... Fufilling to let their shared misery mingle together like this! Her mark was... So inviting. It told her so much about Yana. Such a strong girl. She was blocking out her darkness. Running from it. Just like Haru. They needed to stop being such bad girls. The darkness was their friend... Its always been there for them. It was bringing them together now. Didn't it feel good?
Yana however seemed to have had her fun. The dark haired girl returned to her normal posture once again, her mark no longer exposed, leaving Haru alone once more. She asked her why she hadn't told Vee, he was her digimon partner after all. Why hadn't she? It was a very good question. One Haru didn't have an answer to. "I... I don't know. I don't think it matters really. Does it change the way we work together? Should it?" shed ask as a sincere gesture of confidence. "Its only affecting me... Won't let this affect him." shed say firmly, more to herself than anyone else. "Let's catch up to him..." she'd finish, taking off rather quickly.

Indeed Haru wasn't the only marked tamer she knew... She was however the only one who had ever shown Yana her mark, and vice versa. Haru couldn't see it, but the shy girl was blushing the whole time, baring herself like this made her feel insecure, naked even. That mark often felt a physical representation of her own darkness, of the depths of her soul, and now there she was, showing it. Her shoulders were visibly stiff and her eyes were fixed on the groud in front of her, but all that changed the moment she felt Haru's soft, warm fingers brushing that tainted spot of skin: She quivered as her eyes went wide for a brief second before her stance loosened with a soft, almost relieved sigh, "...Haru...", uttered the dark haired tamer, nibbling her lip.
Her own touch never soothed the restless throbbing she got from her brand, especially when she had bad memories jumbling around her head, but for the first time, touching her mark relaxed her, giving her an odd tingly feeling. For whatever reason, Haru's touch made her feel a bit hot but still more pleasant than anything: She leaned into her hand, silently enjoying the ease it brought her. Yana felt the girl squeezing her hand, she felt her warm breath on that sensitive spot, all of it together made her feel closer to Haru than ever before. She didn't want this closeness to end! Maybe if she could touch her mark like this... Just a little bit... Only a bit longer. Then she'd be happy. Sharing this cumplicity with her was all she could ever want... If that mark was able to bring them together like this; then It couldn't be all that bad right?
But all good things must come to an end, and Yana eventually turned around to face her friend, shining the same loving gaze on her friend, though now much more personal and trusting than before. Haru still hadn't let go of her hand, and thus Yana immediately squeezed a little tighter, enough to reaffirm her presence, to provide her warmth and companionship. It did strike her as odd that Rei and Sebastian suffered a lot more than Yana and Haru put together. It was now painfully obvious that the marks didn't affect them all the same way, so it was impossible to predict how a marked tamer was suffering from it, other than the occasional phantoms. Haru didn't seem too heavily affected, thankfully, Yana got worried at a time when she suspected the Mark's potency had to do with how many Digimon one had killed. She looked into her friend's eyes as she answered the troubling question, clearly uneasy at the prospect. Though Yana wanted to reassure her, she knew that what she was going to say next would have the opposite effect, and she still had to say it:
"That's the problem, It can hurt him... Though it may look like it doesn't, I've seen a Digimon lose his mind over his partner's mark.", Yana spoke with a gentle, even tone, sharing her experiences from the meeting with Rei and Yusuke. She didn't want to worry the blonde with details, especially since Kuro's affinity for darkness made him a lot more knowledgeable on such energies. Thus, she would never tell Vee herself nor would she try to force Haru to do it, but she hoped her friend wouldn't make an ill informed decision. This was all she would say on the unpleasant matter, and it was probably more than she wanted to hear. Soon, Haru darted off after Vee and Yana followed suit, whereas Ari had already done the same a while back, "Right!"
Indeed, Ari already knew about Yana's mark, but she wasn't the kind of girl to intrude on what was clearly a private moment between the two tamers. So after a while of turning away and trying to find other things to do, she eventually decided to follow along after Vee, taking care to keep the two humans within sight range. Soon, she found the Digimon she was looking for:
"Find anything interesting?", inquired Ari, dashing over to Vee's side as the blue dragon was still up and about his scouting task, curiously checking out what he was up to. Haru may have had ulterior motives in sending her partner away, but observing their surroundings was still important.

60% Experience until Armor Ult 121/200 Posts | Vee cocked his head back at the light pitter patter of foot steps behind him, he should have been a little more concerned at the sound given how close they were to the thieves den, but his recent discoveries told him that whatever was making that sound was too small to be whatever was holding up in the cave. He gave an off hand, two finger salute to Ari as she peeked through the break in the trees, dashing to his side. He'd shrug at her question, as was his way, before moving to indicate what he'd be pointing out to her. "Ehhh... Nothin' ya couldn't see for yourself really. Got lots of footprints in the dirt around here. Area has seen a lot of activity. Probably have been hiding out here for a while, given how well the prints are ingrained in the soil. I'm guessing... At least 4 digimon? Likely a gang of the same kind, like those guilemon from last time, so we'll probably be out numbered in there... But uhhhh, yeah... That's not what's really worrying me..." he'd begin cautiously, tapping his foot lightly on the ground. "Tree line is pretty messed up, as you mighta seen comin' in. Branches are clean broken off and there's a fallen sabling or two along that way, and more importantly ones been completely uprooted. Can't even find it within a few yards or so, so I'm thinkin' it was definitely removed... Not only that but there's uhh, some pretty big tracks here, coming from the cave. Only a few, yeah, but whatever it is, it's pretty big. Big enough that the cave entrace shows some signs of uhhh... What you might call forceful remodeling. Rubble is scattered a bit by the mouth of it. I guess whatever the big thing was, got big inside then tried to get out. Busted it's way through. Stomped around a bit, busted down those trees, then took one back as a souvenir..." the once adept warrior postured with his comrade, slipping out of his casual character for a moment. Catching himself, he'd give a nervous chuckle while rubbing the back of his head. " 'Course that's just uhhh, just a theory really. Haven't exactly gone in yet, waiting up on the boss lady before takin the plunge, ya know? Don't wanna go in without any support... Though we're here to save somebody, right? Oughta get a move on... They with you? If not, might be worth a little peek..." he'd mumble mostly to himself before looking back at Ari with a sheepish grin. Ladies and champions first, of course... I'd uhhh, cover your rear." Vee would say with a faux cowardly tone. Tactically speaking, Ari was a better lead at the moment. Every gatomon he'd ever known had been fairly resistant to viruses and Vee'd bet his next life that that's what was hold up in the cave. She'd be faster and stronger than anything except whatever that hulking beast was. Call it survivor's sense but he just got a bad feeling looking at the foot prints. Last time he'd picked a fight with something bigger than him, he woke up fresh from his digiegg.
Haru ignored her friend's warning. How could her mark hurt Vee? It made no sense. It was only affecting her. Shed take care of it. That's just how she lived and it had never been a problem before. A stupid tattoo wouldn't change that. It couldn't. Still, it was nice to know now that it wasn't just those two. There were others out there... Did everyone have one? It would make sense... Almost like a... Curse.
The thought made Haru's head hurt suddenly. Her chest felt a sharp pain through it. She was being bad. So she was punished. She shook the thoughts out of her head and focused on the task at hand. They had come here to... Save someone, right? Something about a book too. Haru would reach the clearing where the girl's digimon had been.

75% Experience until Ult225/300 Posts | As Ari approached Vee, she perked her ears to hear out what little he had learned, but as she soon found out, he had theorized more than he had seen; since there really wasn't much to see other than those footprints. Indeed there were several layers of footprints, and she nodded in agreement to his belief that they had been hiding out here for a while. He had a good time to analyze the scene before them and with that came his fair share of insight that Ari would much rather hear than spend time figuring out for herself. The most interesting part by far was how many trees had been crudely broken or even knocked over, but none of that was quite as interesting as all the rubble at the entrance. It was exactly as Vee said, whatever made that hole came from the inside, and for two Digimon, the implications would be clear as day:
"Maybe somebody digivolved inside the cave? It wouldn't make sense to suddenly grow big in such a small space unless you really had to...", She commented, narrowing her gaze and pitching her own two cents. She wouldn't need to say anything else for Vee to understand where she was going with this. It really looks like there was a fight inside that cave, now whether it was the fight they were looking for or something completely unrelated; that little bit of information would have to wait. His next question had her smiling and nodding, pointing back to the way she came; even if his comment still earned him a little giggle, "Such a gentleman~ They should be coming along in a few...", Ari's ears the twitched as she heard a rustling in the brushes, "There they are!"
Meanwhile, Yana was still wondering what she'd do to help the blonde... Showing each other something nobody else had ever seen had clearly drawn them together, which still overjoyed the schoolgirl even with the whole ominous nature of the secret they shared. She wanted to be close to her, and she had gotten her wish, occasionally letting out a soft, bashful smile as she thought back to the girl touch over that aching spot... But now she wanted to help her, stand by her, and she just didn't know, especially after she stated her firm belief that her brand wouldn't affect her partner. Even if she was right, his support could help her greatly. But if she was wrong, things would take a much darker turn... Haru wasn't the kind of girl who would believe her unless she saw it with her own eyes. The best Yana could do was stand by her and ensure no harm came to either of them. Even Yana wouldn't have believed it if she didn't see it happen to Rei and Kuro, or Sebastian, and she wasn't nearly as objective as her friend was.
But soon, all these worries had to be pushed aside for the time being as the girls reunited with their Digimon, "So, what did you two find...?", inquired Yana, leaving a few moments for Ari and Vee to share their thoughts, after which she'd suggest heading inside, and Ari would agree. She was alright with taking point on this one as previously discussed with Vee, her keen eyes would help her see even with dim lightning, and she'd be fully alert to any movement inside, at least if it happened close enough for her to see or hear.
Of course, before any of that, Yana still turned back with a sweet but expectant smile towards Haru, waiting to see if she wanted to look for something before getting a move on...

60% Experience until Armor Ult 121/200 Posts | Vee nodded along with a knowing grin. Ari had caught on pretty fast. He suspected the same thing. The little champion replied playfully to his sheepish suggestion. It was... Weird talking to Ari,at least for him. Hex never been much for conversation with people. Sure he helped but back then he didn't have any friends he could name. Ari was by all rights a stranger, realistically speaking they knew so little about each other its be hard to properly call her a friend. He felt like he hadn't put enough into their relationship to really deserve that label. As far as comrades went though, she was great. Very easy to talk to. Fast learner too. He wasn't quite sure shed ever properly understand him, but she understood others and really that's all that mattered. He was pretty content as it was. Soon the two girls joined them, first Haru then Yana, who asked what the duo discovered. "Long story short, we've got a good sized gang of digimon hold up in there. One probably digivolved and stomped around here. I don't know any rookie that gets that big, so probably at least a champion. We could take him... Probably." Vee would say nonchalantl, getting the school girl up to speed. Haru just silently listened, trying to move past what Yana had said. Vee seemed fine. He'd stay fine. They... They just needed to get stronger. Must be so easy for Yana to say, her and Ari were already at least one level ahead. The two of them needed to catch up. If they could just get stronger, no way some dumb mark would hurt them, even if it could. The blonde moved forward, only to have Vee gently grab her arm as she past him. "uhhh, hold up boss. Ari's gonna take point on this one, yeah? Cat eye sight, champion... Makes more sense, ya know?" Haru blinked for a moment at her partner. "No." She said quite simply. Pulling her arm away from her partner's grasp. There was no reason they should get to become stronger while Haru and Vee lag behind, just like they had back with skullgreymon... No way. Not this time."Let's get going." She said, taking some long strides toward the cave. Vee turned his head to look at Yana with an inquisitive look, silently asking what The two had talked about alone that would get Haru to act... Fairly irrational, given her ordinarily pragmatic mindset. Still, the little Veemon didn't stick around to find out the answer to his question. Haru wouldn't want him to hear it from anyone besides herself, and she's surely tell him once she was ready. She was a smart girl in his mind. Whatever was eating her wouldn't affect the task at hand. He would sneak his way past Haru, so 1st least she wasn't the very first thing to swing at.
As the quartet moved into the gave, the echoes of a fight could be heard from deeper within. The words drifted and lingered as they bounced off the acoustic cave walls "badaboom" shouts could be heard as near as half way into the entrance. Haru and Vee perked up immediately, and as Vee turned to face the other girls, Haru was already sprinting towards the sounds of the scuffle, swiping her card through its scanner. "Digimodify!" The homeless girl would shout, neglecting they might have had an element of surprise. Vee spun around quickly and ran after her, keeping pace just in her heels, even as the distinct spear and shield of Gallantmon manifested over his hands.
