feel the light shining in the dark of the night | Exploring the Digital World was all fine and dandy, but even though Katsuo enjoyed doing so, it could be very exhausting so having free days was something necessary. Of course he also had break days on exhausting school days, but ever since the day he had gotten sucked in by his laptop and found out about the Digital World, Katsuo found himself more and more often taking days for relaxation.
He of course also had plenty of ways to spend his time in a relaxing way, like shopping, cooking, surfing the internet and list goes on. This day however, the young man had decided to go to a maid café. And though the thought of being served good food by maids was a wonderful thing, that wasn't his reason alone for going to the cafe. Katsuo had a friend working in the café he was heading to and it was rather enjoyable to see her working around like that.
Stepping in the maid café, with a happy little jingle ringing and Katsuo was immediately greeted by a maid with a smile. "Welcome back, goshujin-sama" The maid said, bowing for Katsuo. He himself greeted the maid back happily and was soon taken to a table and handed a menu. "We'll have a maid soon to take your order, goshujin-sama." The maid bowed again and made her leave, with Katsuo waving his hand to her.
Now all he could do was wait and try to spot his friend while at it.

Rukia Date She really loved her job. What was not to like? Here at this maid cafe, she was able to make up as many stories as she wanted. It was a real delight, and although many of her Otaku fans couldn't keep up with the delusions she came up with, they at least tried, and she loved them for it.
She was pretty popular here at her job, currently holding the number one spot. That title wasn't just for show either. Anyone who watched her work would be able to see how much she enjoyed it. Also helped that a lot of boys liked cat girls, which they had in common with her.
Back home was the only time she ever took these things off, not even counting whenever she transformed back in the Digital World. Like usual, the cafe was 60% full of patrons. A stable business, but not exactly as popular as it could be. And for now, that was fine.
Change wasn't always good you know. She had just finished serving one of her regular patrons, when one of her co-workers had came up to her. The other girl looked happier than she usually did, and her hands were behind her back too. That could alone mean one thing.
"Nya~ He's here, isn't he? I wasn't expecting him so soon. The oni that had attacked us had made sure we were preoccupied with his underlings, who separated us. If it wasn't for Rui-sama's summoning, I wouldn't have escaped myself."
"He is. And he might have been hit by the curse of devour again, too."
"Then I'll have to perform my special technique on him. Nya~ He should be more careful if it's true."
Truth and lies. Unless you weren't aware of her relationship to their new arrival, it wasn't difficult to figure out what she was saying. The oni was one of their teachers who had assigned homework which she had put off, since she had to work today.
The curse was simply whether or not he was hungry. Her co-worker might not be able to tell, but she sure would. Recognizing body language was one of her special skills after all. What kind of cat girl was she, if she couldn't recognize what one of her masters wanted.
After thanking her co-worker, she had taken her leave, quickly finding her classmate sitting at one of the tables that were available.
"Nya~ Myaster! I'm glad you're here. How long did it take you to defeat those underlings? I'll give you the usual if they cursed you again?"
Her arms were clutching the notepad she had to her chest, head tilted, and a worried look on her face. She could also feel her cheeks warming up, as she imagined something embarrassing to be able to portray the kind of persona she wanted.
And here at work, the cat girl she acted as was in debt to her various masters, and usually worked as a healer.

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | Once a maid with pink hair in pigtails with a pair of cat ears decorating her head walked up to Katsuo, a grin appeared on his face. She greeted him like she always does and questioned if he had taken care of the underlings, aka homework, and mentioned about giving the usual if he had gotten cursed, aka hungry. It sure did make Katsuo happy that these days he could decipher most of her storytelling... well, some of it at least. "Hi, Rukia-chan." He greeted his maid friend casually, with a raised hand.
The young man gave a confident chuckle and placed his raised hand against his face, just like he remembers a hero from an anime doing. "Yes. I have defeated the oni's underlings, though they did put up a surprisingly good fight." Katsuo told that he had finished his homework, though he did have some trouble with it, telling this in an incredibly boasting and protagonist-y tone. His performance this far would have been spot perfect if it wasn't for the small snort of held back laughter that came out right after finishing the sentence.
Taking back his serious look after barely being able to contain his laughter, Ratsuo continued. "Sadly, I have been cursed as you expected. Thought this time it might be stronger than ever, so I might need double the treatment for this terrible ailment." He explained, once again snorting after finishing his performance. Dealing with homework had taken longer than expected, so Katsuo had gotten rather hungry, which is exactly was why he wanted two portions of his usual in the maid café. "Oh, and just water is fine as my drink." The young man swiftly added, not this time bothering with the dramatic tone, as he probably would have broken that time. It was already a miracle that he had done so well.

Rukia Date Would today be the day? She watched the boy's performance, not leaving her worried pose. Like always, he had started out fine, answering her persona's worries, but her own questions. So his homework was done, but he had trouble with it. Had it actually been that hard? Or was it a guy thing?
She wasn't even sure. From what she knew, he didn't really get bad grades, and she didn't excel or anything, but they weren't awful. Oh well. Since she was working today, she doubted she would actually have the time to personally do the homework they had.
Checking things over however, was an entirely different thing. The work was already done, and all she would have to do is erase a few things if they were wrong. Although it would mean she would owe him a favor, it was fine. This wouldn't be the first time.
"You have to teach me, nyan~ If Rui-sama hadn't saved me, I would still be fighting his underlings."
Tears were forming in her eyes, and she gave a small sniff, not breaking character, even though he had with that sniff at the end. As usual. So today wouldn't be the day he would get through an entire exchange of her taking his order, without him breaking character.
Oh well. At least he lasted longer this time around. When he got back to his serious look and answered her other question, she had given him a light nod, wiping away the tears in her eyes. Although she had looked sad just a moment ago, it was replaced by a look of determination.
"I'll do my best, nya~ Just wait here myaster, and keep fighting it off."
He had broke character again when he had requested his drink, but she couldn't blame him. Not many people could keep up with her. He was pretty close though. After giving him a proper bow, she had ran off to the back, where her co-workers were cooking.Ogasawara, Katsuo This template was made by esa of RPG-D Lyrics by Fun.
