unter was violently awoken by something slamming into his torso. This something just so happened to be Alecto. The Tsukaimon had slammed down on his stomach with her full weight, the force of which had awoken him from his slumber. Taking a moment to take in his surroundings, the young man had absolutely no clue as to where he was.
He found himself in a cave decorated with various pots and containers made of red clay, intricately woven blankets and rugs adorning the walls, floors, and furniture, which appeared to be made of stone, and burned out torch sconces. He hadn't the foggiest of how he had came to be in this place, but his attention was snatched by Alecto, who tackle hugged his head.
Now this was different. Hunter had become accustomed to their usual sarcastic ways of showing they cared for each other, but outright hugging was something that he didn't inherently expect from the small Virus Digimon. The young Tamer began reaching up to pry her off of his face until he felt her shudder slightly. Immediately a wave of confusion assaulted his mind, but before he could attempt to speak, Alecto spoke up, "I can't believe you! YOU IDIOT!" Hunter found himself on the receiving end of a hard slap from one of the Tsukaimon's wing ears.
The Tamer rubbed the now reddening section of his face, and could only give his Partner a look of utter confusion and a little concern. "Do you not remember what happened last night?! You nearly died out in the desert! Just because your stubborn ass didn't want to leave us out in that wind all night, didn't give you the right to go pushing yourself like that!" Hunter quirked an eyebrow at the small Digimon before her words began to sink in and everything began to come back to him.
They had begun trekking out West in search of treasure after hearing stories about all the things that people had found amidst the shifting sands, especially near the Overdell Plateaus. The two had stopped in Tecton City where Hunter had purchased some necessary supplies and clothing to last in the desert. They had made the mistake of leaving for the plateaus in the early afternoon, and by the time they could see Overdell Plateaus in the distance, it was night time and the wind was blustering them and kicking up sand towards them. Alecto had had to hide in Hunter's desert clothing in order to avoid being blown away. The white-haired Tamer had held the Virus type close to him the whole time, but just as they were getting close to the plateaus, he had used up all of his energy and passed out. After that, he had no idea what happened.
Just as Hunter's trip down memory lane ended, he heard someone come into the cave. Immediately whipping his head towards the entrance, he saw what appeared to be a large ball of hair wearing a ratty brown tunic, with arms and legs coming out of the tunic, whilst holding onto a staff with a strange cat paw shaped top. The, what he could only assume to be a Digimon, let out a hearty, old laugh. "Well now! Glad to see your back in the world of the living, sonny! Was starting to worry this old man to death. You know how jarring it is for ol'Jijimon to just find some human whipper-snapper lying like that at his doorstep?"
The grandfatherly tone of the Digimon, who was apparently a Jijimon, made Hunter relax almost instantly. There was just something so wizened but caring about the elderly Digimon's tone. "I do apologize. Me and Alecto were coming out here to search for treasure. But we got caught in that wind last night and put us both at risk. I kept her hidden to keep her from being blown away, and it must've took more of a toll on me than I initially guessed." The white-haired young man bowed his head in apology, his hand going to pet the head of Alecto, who was just starting to recover from her earlier outburst. Although she happily accepted the gesture from her Tamer, how dare he make someone like her worry about him?!
Jijimon watched this interaction between human and Digimon whilst hearing Hunter's story. He had heard all of this earlier from Alecto when he found them outside of his cave, but hearing it from Hunter made him appreciate how close the two actually must have been. "Well, it ain't no worry. I'm always happy to help out folks who get in over their head in these parts. None quite like you two though." The elderly Digimon saw that Hunter smiled a little at that, and the Tsukaimon make some kind of remark under her breath about, "If he hadn't of saved our butts, I'd take that as a insult."
Jijimon stared at the two guests in his home, when he realized he could finally do something about that relic he had found some time ago. Gesturing for them to wait for a minute, Jijimon began to rummage around in a chest in a corner of the room, leaving Hunter and Alecto to merely stare at the Mega level in curiosity. Just what was he doing?
Eventually, the Ancient Digimon found what he was looking for. A round object wrapped up in a brown cloth and tied up with a bit of ancient, yellow string. Walking briskly over to Hunter, he pulled up a chair next to the bed, and cradled the object in his hands. "You two young'uns said you were out here for treasure, right?" When the two nodded their heads in response, Jijimon untied the string from the brown cloth, revealing a egg-shaped object. It was silver, with six, rounded grooves, running vertical up the objects sides, with a beige symbol on it (Symbol), and a red, tattered cloth wrapped around the midsection. "This here is a Digimental. I found this little bugger here in this very cave when I first made my way into these parts. I could never find anyone that fit the bill for it though. Don't get too many visitors out this way, not often pairs like yourselves either. But, I got a good feeling about you two."
With that, Jijimon handed the Digimental over to Hunter before he could ask what exactly a 'Digimental' was, and immediately it pulsed for a moment before glowing momentarily. Once the glow began, Hunter's Digivice began to rumble and glow as well, and upon pulling it out of his pocket, the same symbol appeared on its screen, before the Digimental also appeared on the purple D-3's screen. In his head, he somehow had learned what the symbol on the Digimental meant. "Altruism." Alecto watched everything that transpired in awe, wondering just what the egg-shaped object was doing.
Eventually the glow transpired, and Jijimon burst out laughing. When the two looked at him in confusion, the elderly Digimon managed to speak between his whooping laughter, "You have no idea how happy I am to get rid of that thing! I worried day in and day out that that belonged to somebody and they were gonna swoop in and fight me for it! But all this time, I just had to wait for y'all two to show up! I wish you had shown up sooner, sonny! Had to wait for your caring behind to just up and pass out on my doorstep!" After this, Jijimon explained that Hunter's attempt to shield Alecto from the sand and wind and his general care for her made him suitable for the Digimental, and gave a general explanation as to what it could do.
It was after this, after the two waited for the Ancient Digimon to cease laughing and letting Hunter rest some, that Hunter and Alecto, stocked up with some more supplies and their new Digimental in tow, left Jijimon's cave to head back towards Tecton City. They promised to return and tell him some stories of their adventures. For the rest of the day, and for days afterwards, Jijimon was seen walking with a bit more spring in his step.
