Creativity and imagination have always been a large part of Atticus's life. So it should come as no surprise that most of his interests coincide with those two things. Reading and writing are two of his more common interests. With his focus in these two subjects leaning heavily towards fantasy and fiction. Writing itself is more of a secondary hobby to him, as his true interest and talent lie in art. Atticus is an extremely skilled artist for someone of his age. He's been practicing the craft ever since he was a child and it shows in his artwork. According to his mother, his natural talent for art is something he inherited from his absentee father.[BREAK][BREAK]
Atticus's inspiration for his artwork comes from the manga and anime native to the country of Japan. A place whose culture and beautiful landscapes have always been of great interest to Atticus. It's a personal goal of his to one day visit the Land Of The Rising Sun and enjoy what it has to offer. Atticus is also quite fond of video games, RPGs to be specific, as well as American comic books. It is in fact quite easy for Atticus to get lost and even consumed by his interests. They serve as an easy escape from reality and allow him to live in a world disconnected from his own. One in which he feels as though he actually matters.
FRIENDSHIPS
The word friend isn't something that Atticus tends to throw around very often. He's kept his social circle particularly small for a reason. He certainly knows of a lot of people and he's sure that people know of him. But the young man can count on one hand the number of people he actually considers his friends. This is because Atticus does his best to not only push people away from him. His depressive & temperamental tendencies make him difficult to be around. Even if one were to take those traits away they'd find that Atticus is very timid and quiet regardless. He rarely speaks unless spoken too and his anxiety over getting hurt makes him emotionally guarded and distrusting of others. All of this together makes it incredibly hard for others to get close to Atticus.
Those with the time and patience to slowly chip away at his walls, however, will find the gentle soul resting underneath Atticus's facade. Something that contrasts strongly with the distant and 'bad boy' persona he wishes to display. A young man with a great deal of empathy for the suffering of others and an incredibly creative mind. One that is desperate to find the place in which he belongs within the world. So much so that once he allows someone inside of his defenses. He'll more than likely do anything for them. And while he does not intend for his actions or himself to be perceived this way. It's quite clear that Atticus can be co-dependent on those he trusts.
HATESHIPS
You'll have a far easier time finding people that dislike Atticus or that Atticus himself happens to dislike. Growing up he was a very easy target for bullies to pick on. The quiet kid who kept to himself and did nothing to stop you when you tormented him. It was a reputation that Atticus held for a long time. One that some still try to make use of today in spite of how much he's changed since then. Always one to bottle up his emotions and feelings rather than face them outright. It was only natural that eventually the bottle he tucked it all away in would burst. Letting loose years of pent up anger that still has refused to go away to this day.[BREAK][BREAK]
For as timid as Atticus can prove to be the anger and loathing that he feels for the world and those who have wronged him is intense. It is easily comparable to that of a raging fire. It is also an emotion that Atticus has never properly learned to deal with. This is a shame because alongside his depression its one of his strongest felt emotions. Try as he might to continue bottling it up and ignore it. It simply refuses to go away. Each time the bottle breaks it becomes easier and easier for his anger to seep back out into the world. These fits of rage are so intense that often times Atticus will black them out. Only to come back after the damage has been done.[BREAK][BREAK]
His anger aside though, what else can one do to end up as Atticus's enemy? Betrayal of his trust is perhaps one of the quickest ways. Because of how difficult it is for him to give out he takes such a thing extremely seriously. Often times becoming vindictive towards the one who had wronged him. Atticus loves hard but he hates harder, and that hatred is nearly unwavering when wrought.
LOVESHIPS
Romance, lust, love, or whatever else you'd like to call it. Is something that Atticus is intimately familiar with. There was a time before the melancholy tendrils of depression gripped hold of him. That Atticus did things like date and attempt to find his one and only. Why wouldn't he want to find love? Everything he'd seen not only in real life but in the world of fiction told him that love was something vital to life. That it is something desperately sought after and that it could be a source of not only great strength but intense pain. It's something that Atticus wants deeply and he's a hopeless romantic because of it. Do not take this to mean that Atticus does not the know difference between simple attraction and a loving connection either. Because he's very much aware of the difference between the two.[BREAK][BREAK]
Love, however, is something that even with how badly he wants it he does not feel he deserves. Atticus's experience with love despite how romanticized it has remained over the years has been anything but pleasant. His father, a man who was supposed to love him unconditionally abandoned Atticus and his mother when he was only three. A pattern that would continue as he'd resurface in Atticus's life, make promises and then leave once more. While his mother and her girlfriend certainly loved him deeply. It wasn't enough to stop the feeling of unworthiness that had begun to settle within him.[BREAK][BREAK]
Atticus isn't an easy person to love regardless of his past trauma. His unstable temperament and drastic mood swings making an already difficult task harder. Add on top of that his habit of pushing people away already, and the image that Atticus might end up alone is easy enough to see. If romance is what someone seeks with Atticus they'll have to tear down plenty of emotional defensives. And also be able to understand and willing to endure the chaotic nature of his emotions and the heaviness of his depression. In doing so, however, they will have someone who will stick with them through anything that life throws at them.
