It was almost as if New York never stopped. Even at an hour such as this, when people should be at home enjoying dinner with their families or friends, there were still people lined up on the streets, speaking on cell phones in hushed tones or hawking their wares to the tired individuals still trudging home to work. Justin did his best to ignore the hustle and bustle, instead doing his best to fill out the day's paperwork at a small table outside a closed Cafe. At least it gave him somewhere to sit and a little umbrella to protect from the possible rain that threatened to burst from the overcast clouds any minute.
"Yo, boss, you finished yet? I'm gonna starve here and turn into a pile of bones!" Reaver hissed from the alleyway. Aside from the umbrella, there was the fact a dark alley with trash cans from the Cafe was a great hiding place for Reaver while he did the end of the day work. When it was time to leave, Reaver would crawl into his bag and Justin would haul him back home with him. It was a pretty good set up, and so far, he hadn't been noticed by any one. Was he really one of the only people to connect with a Digimon?
Digivice on the table beside his phone and camera, Justin continued to dutifully tap at the keys at his laptop before turning to scribble on a piece of paper. Nobody ever thought twice about the device. Just another one of those weird electronic devices that all the young adults and teens were using, probably. Thank goodness the generation before him wasn't very nosey. "I think you'd just turn into a Digiegg. But, for the sake of your statement, I still have a skele-ton of work to do, so if you have a bone to pick with me, better speak up..." Puns usually made the Digimon happy, and by the sound of stifled laughter and giggling snorts, Justin assumed he'd done his job. "Alright, you win boss. Hey, do me a favor. Toss me a battery to nibble on!"
Taking a moment from his work, Justin stuck a hand inside his pocket, pulling out an old, corroded battery. He normally recycled these at the camera shop he got most of his gear from, but now he'd found somewhere else to recycle them. Tossing the battery over his shoulder into the alley, he could almost immediately hear the little chirps the Elecmon made when he was nibbling happily. Now if only that rain would go away, this evening wouldn't be too bad...

BUT NOW I'M INSECURE AND I CARE WHAT PEOPLE THINK New York City at night was truly amazing, and any other day Michael would have taken the time to actually enjoy the sight. He was already running late however, and if he didn't get home soon he was pretty sure his mother was going to blow a gasket. Half a hot dog hung in Michael's mouth and his backpack was slumped lazily over his shoulder as speedily made his way through the crowds of people. A task easier said than done considering the sheer volume of people who called the city home. He was silently cursing himself for having stayed out this late, but it couldn't be helped. He had wanted to see all the sights New York had to offer. He also needed to get more familar with the place he'd be calling home from now on. He had only been here a couple of days after all. So much had happened within that short span of time as well. So much stuff that it wasn't honestly pretty hard to wrap his head around it all. He finished the hotdog inside of mouth off and then found himself stopping in the middle of the sidewalk. A few of the people around him weren't too happy about about it, but they moved around him. The youth reached into his pocket and pulled out a strange device. He doubted anything man made could compare to the device, a digivice as it was called. The strap of the D-Ark was held loosely in his fingers as he pulled it up towards his face. The device and the being who had given it to him were so foreign in nature to him. If what he had been told was to be believed they were from another world. The entire thing seemed a tad ludicrous honestly, but if he had watched Rebound crawl out from his computer screen so there had to be some truth to the dragon's words. Michael's eyes found themselves wandering away from the device in his hands and towards the area around him. Blue eyes catching sight of a device that looked to be of a similar nature to his own. It was sitting right in plane sight next to a guy who appeared to be busy working on something. Michael tilted his head to the right slightly. Rebound had said there were other people with Digimon, people who would probably be able to help him understand better. Was that guy one of them? He didn't want to just walk up to him and ask though. The guy seemed busy too....so he'd probably being bothering him. Michael tossed the idea of approaching the guy in his head for a couple more seconds before curiosity overtook him. He drew close to the table and then placed his digivice down next to the strangers. Blue eyes gazing down towards the blonde, "I don't suppose you'd be able to tell me a bit more about this would you?" he figured being upfront about it was probably the best approach. Hopefully he was going to be bothering guy too much...

"So, I think we're gonna hop into the Digital World tomorrow and make sure we come out somewhere in... England? I've got a gig there that would probably bring in enough money for me to not have to worry for a few weeks..." Justin absentmindedly spoke, half to himself and half to Reaver. The Digimon wasn't listening, and instead, continued to nibble on the old battery. When he was almost finished with his work, Justin glanced up only to see a youth heading towards him. Probably in the last few years of high school. Justin was never good with ages, especially with American kids. It wasn't until the boy continued his beeline towards Justin that he suspected he'd probably have to speak to the kid. Trying to keep his mind away from New York stereotypes, the Aussie closed his laptop at the approach of the boy before jumping slightly at the sound of Michael's digivice clinking against the table.
There was no doubt about it. While they looked different, there was no denying they probably served the same purpose.
Mouth slightly agape, Justin glanced at the D-Arc before looking up at the boy. Justin hadn't actually expected his plan to work. Sure, put the Digivice out in plain sight. Miraculously, SOMEONE in New York would notice it and have one too. What were the chances? To be fair, what were the chances of having a Digital Monster too though? Readily giving himself up to chance, Justin kinda chuckled a bit and readjusted his thoughts. "I hadn't actually expected anyone in New York ta know what that is. But, i'm kind of the wrong person to ask. I only just recently got mine. But, you're welcome to have a seat. I don't mind tellin' ya what I know." Justin pointed to the seat across from him at the Cafe table. He pocketed his own Digivice and shuffled his electronics into their appropriate bag.
The Aussie took this moment to try and size up the kid. Upon closer inspection, he seemed relatively bright. Clothes were clean. Had enough balls to come up to a stranger and ask about the Digivice. "I'm uh, Justin. Justin Pryce. You are?" He wasn't the most socially blessed creatures, but at least there was a direct conversation topic already. Giving the boy enough time to introduce himself, Justin waited before continuing. "You're uh, not one of the bad ones, are you?" It was clear that Justin didn't think the kid was, but he couldn't help but ask. Reaver kept talking about bad Tamers, or bad Digimon, and Justin didn't want to get tangled up in any messes. He wouldn't put it past a bad person to try and take advantage of Justin's kindness and naivety. But, to be fair, if he was bad, he wouldn't truly mention it, would he?
"Ugh, nevermind. Me being paranoid. I'm new to this whole thing too, honestly. I just moved to New York a few months ago from Australia, if you couldn't tell." Justin chuckled. Accent usually gave him away. "It wasn't until I moved here and worked for a while that this came with a uh, well, you know." It was best to try and stay general, right? Justin hoped he wasn't coming off too weird to the kid.
