PERSONALITY Many see Susumu as a misguided punk, which is true depending on just how close you get to him. However, that's not the clearest description of his demeanor. Of course, as a delinquent, the youth is crass, rude, uncouth, and coarse. This is most people's first glance at him, but a second look reveals much softer features of his personality. Susumu is decisive, loyal, and forward-thinking, never regretting a single decision he's ever made in life. Whether it's going home with a black eye or a letter from some authority official, the young adult always uses his tact to explain his situation properly. It all depends on the listener as to whether he's done the right thing or that his personal sense of justice is wrong.
APPEARANCE Face | Hair | Clothes | Body Susumu stands at 5' 11" with broad shoulders and a rather well defined body, being both strong and athletic. His hair contains a reddish tint that highlights the ends, usually residing on his shoulder. He tends to let it grow until it reaches down his back then cuts it short, until it's just above his neck. Keeps him from having to go back and forth to the barber or using many hair-care products to keep it lively. Another noticeable feature is the golden eyes he sports, an obviously unnatural choice made by him to stand out more. Other than that, he's tanner than most Japanese people (being born Ainu) and sports a rather large tattoo of an eastern-inspired dragon running down his arm from his shoulder. INVENTORY ○ SURGICAL MASK - Common delinquent item. Masks only his mouth and nose. ○ BASEBALL BAT - Common delinquent item. Used more for hitting skulls out of the park than home runs. ○ PURPLE SARASHI - Uncommon delinquent item. A long strip of thick cotton used to both bandage up wounds and as a fashion statement. BIOGRAPHY Susumu enjoyed living in Samani -- less people bothered him there and he hadn't faced discrimination like he does now in Shibuya. While he doesn't consider Tokyo a hellhole like others might, he hasn't integrated well, nor has his family. Being born in an Ainu village in Hokkaido, Susumu was blessed with the disadvantage of being slightly different. Just different enough to be ridiculed once he started middle school when they moved from the countryside to the middle of urban life. Just different enough to make him want to rebel against all the nasty slurs he heard, against all the pranks and jeers, against all the hate others felt for him. Years ago, his parents made the bold decision to move based on job opportunities and the ability to provide for their son. Little did they know he really enjoying being a small fish in a small pond. He was a country boy at heart during his youth, walking around town without a care, fishing every day and skipping stones to pass time. All this changed when they finally moved into that nice house in Shibuya, not close enough to the sea or people of similar distinction to them. At first, it was simply off-putting to hear words like 'country boy' or 'hick', but as he progressed it began to grow worse and worse, especially once the vandalism began. Although he's always advised against violence, no one could really stop him once he stepped out the house. Something he took into his mind rather quickly when he rapidly changed his life around sometime in the middle of school. The young teenager went from that kid everyone made fun of to that kid no one wanted to bother, especially once the bell had rung. People still make jabs at him in the comfort of sanctioned authority, but he's bothered less and less when those people aren't around. While he simply just wanted the bullying to stop, it started to consume him more and more, making him what he hated in the end -- even accepting it once someone had made the realization clear to him. After long consideration, Susumu didn't change from his thug behavior, he simply modified it to fit his needs better. Instead of constantly picking fights, he'd let them come to him if they really wanted to. Of course, this ended up with him taking up battles that hadn't involved him time and time again, unable to stay out of trouble due to his own traumatic experiences. In the end, he became uncaring to the monster that grew inside him, almost as a form of control but never truly grasping the reigns of his own beast.
