DIGIMON//
Digimon is an acronym for "Digital Monsters" and refers to a species of lifeform that is composed of data and code rather than organic matter. They first appeared officially in 1979, with the first human to Digimon interaction then occuring five years later in 1984. They come in many different sizes, shapes, and forms, having nearly as much variation as the animal kingdom - if not more.

ANATOMY//
Digimon have unique anatomies unlike anything seen on Earth. While most organic Digimon do have digitized flesh and blood and are capible of bleeding, their organs function quite differently. In fact, most of their organs are different, being wired more like a computer system than a body. These organs can appear differently in different Digimon (for example, machines and puppets) but are for the most part, present in all of them in some form. Digimon are capible of leaving behind bodies, but they usually degrade into free data within five minutes of death.

Digicore: This is the heart and brain of a Digimon, usually taking the form of a glowing orb and being located at the center of a Digimon's body.

Wires: Nerves. These connect the Digicore to other parts of the body.

Stomach: Perhaps the only similar organ Digimon have to humans. Functions the same, too. Their digestive systems are usually superhuman levels of tough, though.
