If the mood wasn't low enough already, it had gone subterranean at this point. Even Degas had stopped his smart assery and had wisely taken Drum somewhere to give the others space. Karisa wasn't flipping out, which was a good thing. She was just, well, virtually dead inside right now, which is to be expected after a major loss like this. Even Ferghus couldn't keep himself together and was breaking down in sobs. Seeing a leomon cry just wasn't right dammit! Hyde gave Ferghus a reassuring pat on the arm as he slowly approached Karisa, who was now staring off into the sky, wondering who was going to die next. Hyde slowly approached her, resting a hand gently on her shoulder. "I wont lie and say nobody else is going to die. This is a dangerous world we live in, and it's a dangerous profession we do. Hell, we could all possibly die tomorrow." He knelt down in front of her, bringing his head level with hers, "But that doesn't mean we should simply give up, that our lives are not worth it. If anything, it means all the more that we should make out lives worth it. I'm sure those that we've lost would also agree if they truly cared about us. I was devastated when I lost Weiss, but I'm sure if the guy was still around, he would want me to keep going on. And if Leyton cared about you as much as we believe he did, he wouldn't want you to break down either. It's ok to mourn those we've lost. It's only natural. But we cannot allow that loss to destroy us. Nobody wants that, not even the departed."He wasn't sure how she would react to this, but it was worth a shot to comfort the poor girl who had helped him during his own dark times. [googlefont="Ubuntu"] Sky above me. Earth below me. Fire within me. Numbly the Mini Dragon let himself be lead towards the lower decks of the oil rig, but not before hearing Karisa's words and Ferghus' heartbreaking sobs rining through his eardrums. The sound swere bloodcurdling and unbelieably sad, like someone just tore something out of Ferghus' chest and he couldn't get it back no matter what he did. His feet were almost autonomous as they took him towards Degas' room, his ears barely catching what was going in the upper decks before it became muffled background. Blinking his slightly teary eyes back into focus he spotted the basket filled with different colored roses on the bed. "O-okay..." Drum sniffed and wiped at his eyes, unwilling to cry and appear weak in front of his comrade. Following Degas' advice, the draconic Digimon sluggishly made his way to another chair, taking a seat on the surprisingly comfy chair and merely waited for the other shoe to drop. Or until they were called back to the upper deck. "Um..." Drum hedged as he felt like he needed to fill the room with some noise, unwilling to bear with the silence any longer. "That was, er, it's really nice. A nice touch I mean, I'm sure the others would appreciate it." That was a big fat lie, he wasn't sure if the others would find the idea good at all but he was trying to stay optimistic here. DegasVilku | |

Degas Vilku Heart Breaker Degas scoffed, it was nice yes. However his reasoning was a little more complex than being nice. If he was to work with the others they had to get along to a degree. He didn't exactly make that easy.
"Sweet cheeks if I was being nice this funeral would be a lot nicer than it is." Degas said leaning head on hand. "No this is simply me trying to be agreeable. I did not know the man and his fate didn't concern me. However I must life in the wake he left." Degas said.
'Where is the idiot?' His inner demon voiced. Come now he wasn't an idiot all the time. Though this probably was the longest he hadn't thought about sex. Since discovering how much he liked it that is. [i']I'm not sure which is scarier you as a sex addict or you when not thinking about it.'
"We haven't really had the chance to get to know one another. Besides the obvious sarcastic comments." Degas said smiling. "So why don't we play a game? I got cards, board games and such. we can chat and just hang."
'Just Hang?' His inner demon said skeptically. Yes just hang. He had no interest in the child sexually. He had pratice amusing children though he didn't care for them. Tolerance was the best word. He had no interest in mourning the dead nor in children but at least kids could play games and mourners couldn't. Drum would do for amusing him for a bit.

Palm soaked with tears, the recollection of the last time a loved one was lost haunted the man's memories. His wife, his son, and the digitama who awaited its birth into the world. That one, that little egg, wasn't even given the chance. Children. Every human around him was a mere child. How many more would he fail to bring to his or her senses to the point where he or she would simply die. Was Ferghus just a murderer intent on on the deaths of children worldwide regardless of how hard he tried? Of all the things the old man would have known, how to protect the young and weak truly wasn't one of them.
"DAMNIT! Just... fuckin' DAMNIT," the Leomon choked. His other hand curled into a fist, raising it up and bringing the side towards the metal platform. A bang, and another. Profanities unleashed their wretched sounds. Hyde's pat on the lion's arm did nothing. More pounding, the platform now instilled with the ever denting imprint of the old man's enormous fist. Strength restraint was far from being a consideration. Repair costs didn't matter. Full throttle rage and despair had gone into the hammering outburst of a digimon who most would consider a noble hero. He wasn't noble, nor a hero.
Even though all that rested on his left eye was an eye patch, both hands finally covered both eyes. Ferghus crouched forward, as though trying to shield everything from his sight. Nothing was worth of him seeing, not joy or even energy. Despair, sadness, rage. It was all that existed. The old lion rarely affiliated himself with a mercenary group, especially one filled with those so much younger than he. In no fashion was Ferghus a leader, the downright embarrassment of his failures shrouding through his mind. A choking sob came from him once again, "Ah caint call mahself a father... Ah'm just a useless sack of shit..."

Karisa would continue to sit there, looking at the digimon next to her. She liked Hyde as a friend and his digimon was alright, but feeling like this...she would be better off alone. She didn't want to say anything, but then she noticed Hyde then walking to her to talk a mouthful. She had a lot of things on her mind and everything that he was saying, was pointless to say. In her mind she knew that if she died, Karisa wouldn't care as she wouldn't have to deal with all these emotions and feels. Her heart pained as she remembered herself leaving him behind, Faust...most likely causing now problems between them. Something within her gut/stomach was telling her that shit was going to happen.
As she was thinking that, she heard Ferghus call himself names in which wasn't appriciated. Karisa didn't know Ferghus all that much besides the first time, the battle and now. As far as it seemed to appear, Ferghus was actually a cool guy. Slowly she stood up and turned her body towards him. Slowly she would walk, her arms dangling against her sides as Naku would then stand as if he could read her mind. Naku would put out his hand as she would stand on it. After that he would heightened Karisa so she was face to face with Ferghus, slapping him across the face. Her eyes looked at him in her emotionless expression. Sighing softly she would look at him still, ''You can't protect everyone nor everything...Plus...'' she spoke in her womanly voice, turned a little to look at Naku and then at Ferghus once more. ''You're not what you call yourself, don't do it again.'' she'd say lastly as she would be lowered by Naku and then turns away. Even though she can be crazy and so on, she had a small pinch of careness in her...or at least what's left.

Hyde's words didn't seem to have any effect on the emotionally crushed girl, as she seemed to completely ignore him. What did get her attention though was Ferghus crying his eyes out. The girl literally stood up, walked over to him and slapped him, telling him that he couldn't defend anyone...but then adding that he wasn't the sack of shit he was claiming himself as. Hyde was relieved to see some of that sweet girl was still in there, as he stood up and walked over to Ferghus, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Don't beat yourself up," he said, trying to comfort the Leomon, "There was nothing any of us could do. It's not your fault." No, the fault lied with the bastard that killed him. [googlefont="Ubuntu"] Sky above me. Earth below me. Fire within me. The Mini Dragon looked back at the lecherous teen and couldn't help the incredulous look that overtook his features for a second. He had gotten so used to the lewd side of Degas that him showing this personal side of himself was truly surprising.
"Oh...?" Games? Cards? Drum never really got to experience much of what other normal kids or perhaps other Rookie Digimon got to do with their families and friends; the most that could be called fun back where he came from were the roughhousing and training against the elders and other teenagers in the Clan. "I haven't really got to enjoy such whimsical things back where I grew up. It was mostly training, eating, sleeping; rinse and repeat." Self-consciously the male looked downward and asked with an almost shy tone. "Would you, um, mind teaching me? Any games are fine."
Idly Drum's ears picked up muffled metallic thuds coming from up above, probably back towards the upper deck with the others. He wondered what was happening for it to make such a sound and on repeat as well. Hopefully, no one was fighting each other or something.

Degas Vilku Heart Breaker Degas raised an eyebrow at Drum. Never played games? This kid? 'Well digimon are raised differently.' Not by much really. Some humans were raised the same. He guessed it shouldn't surprise him though.
"I guess will start with something simple then." Degas said grabbing a deck of cards and coming closer. "Kings corners was my favorite growing up." Degas said taking the cards out and sitting on the floor near the table.
"Rules are simple the Kings go in the corners and you work the way down to ace of each suite. You draw a card after each play. The first person to run out wins." Degas said shuffling and setting up the game.
"I dealt so you go first." Degas said looking at his as always crappy hand. "I'm use to playing with modified rules of course." Degas chuckled.
'Of course you are.' What? Any game could be made into a drinking game. It's legit. '.....' Maybe when the little punk grows up a bit he'll teach him the drinking version. He wonders what he'll become.
Degas would coach him a bit as they played til Drum got the hang of it. 202 | @ | NOTES ulla

Every bit of energy he had went into his miserable state. Nothing mattered in the world. The old lion's breathing became harsh, trying to find a balance within his sobs, and the air in his digital lungs. Movement came to his side, causing Ferghus to remove his hands from his face. Karisa had move from her own stupor, facing the Leomon for some reason or another. On top of that, she used her partner's hand to rise up to meet the lion's face. His eye stared at the girl before a puny smack landed on his cheek, though Ferghus moved his head to the side in tandem regardless.
Now his eye widened, staring at Karisa once again. She managed to slap a giant lion man with no cares given. His breath shook while her words began to take their course into his conscious. That emotionless tone, yet her words rang honest, filled with truth. No, what was he thinking? Ferghus was a mere Champion level monster, with a plethora of killers more powerful than he, regardless of any strategy he put forth. Yet, there were powerful digimon aided by these humans. Ones who despite their often selfish desires, did what they could to protect whom they loved.
Ferghus sniffed as he rub tears from his eye. A shaken exhale, then a repetitive pattern of inhaling, exhaling. He learned another new thing today, one he should have recalled from years ago. Loss hurt even physically, and it didn't matter if the physical drain was direct, "Ah'm... ah'm sorry. Shouldn't have said all that. Didn't think Ah'd have be cryin' like that in the open like that in front of ya'll or anybody. Ain't right fer me ter dump all mah guilt like that. But, Ah appreciate yer kindness Darlin', Hyde." Even a digimon had limits. He wasn't some fancy god monster who could be in different places at once!
Yet, one person here still needed some help of her own. Staring at Karia, the Leomon spoke up, "Now, if anythin', best listen ter wut Ah got ter say Darlin'. Yew ain't the only one feelin' scared of wut might happen next. Fer years all Ah did was wander, more often by mahself, thinkin' it best ter git business down mah own way. Hell, even now Ah'm gonna be too stupid not to have like that, ain't gonna change. But, it's way too horrible of a world out there fer a young woman like yerself ter wander with yer pardner there. Don't do wut Ah did... after mah wife and children were murdered. Don't isolate yerself and refuse to work with other fokes and accept their kindness. Ain't right fer yew ter live a life like that, knowin' full well there's plenty of thangs yew know yew'd rather do."

Karisa would look at Ferghus, waiting for him to say something or do something after the fact that she slapped him. She would tilt her head a little, still waiting and then looked at Hyde who was trying to make the leomon feel better as well. 'Silly Hyde...' she thought coldly as she would then look back at Ferghus. She noticed that there was some emotion into him still as he had widened eyes instead of his usual half-opened ones. She was glad in a way that he was still with them as he snapped out of his gloomy-doomful trance. She didn't like when people called themselves names, a part of her light side that still stayed with her.
She listened to him apologize, saying that he shouldn't have said that and that he appreciated on what her and Hyde has said. After that moment he then spoke even more as he was trying to get some kind of small lecture on how she wasn't the only one scared. Before she would react to that, she'd wait for him to finish as she had some manners. He talked about how his wife and children were murdered and he didn't nor she shouldn't end up like that. After he was done, she would look up at him, do some childish creepy girly laughter as she brought her right hand to her mouth. After she stopped, she putted her hand down to dangle against her sides once more and then tilted her head a little. ''I'm not scared, it's just hopeless.'' she started and then turned around, crossed her arms against her chest and watched the two other people that were here, playing something. ''Plus, as long as I have this certain person waiting for me at home...I'll be stable...I don't think people want to know what would happen afterwards.'' she spoke calmly and softly as she walked towards Laytons picture. ''This is just the beginning...'' she would whisper and then close her eyes, sighing softly. She wondered on where the other two went, as far as she knew...they were playing a game, but where? 'Oh well...' she would think and then look back at Hyde and Ferghus...not knowing what to do now.

Hyde watched quietly as Ferghus seemed to come out of his rut, coming to terms with the fact that despite his efforts, he couldn't protect everyone. Likewise, Karisa declared as long as she had that certain someone (whoever that was, Hyde didn't know), she would be ok. Guess that was the best Hyde could hope for right now. After a moment of silence, Hyde spoke up, "Well, we may as well get started," They had spent all this time getting all worked up, they hadn't even started the memorial service yet. "I'm not exactly good at this sort of thing. I suppose we should start by giving some words about our departed comrade." Hyde hadn't been close to Leyton at all, so it really wasn't a good idea for him to say anything. He looked between Ferghus and Karisa. "Is there anything any of you would like to say?" Sable tugged on Hyde's pants leg gently. "I'll go get Degas and Drum, bring them back here." Hyde nodded as the Pawn Chessmon walked off, looking back at the King and Queen of the Wild Cards. [googlefont="Ubuntu"] Sky above me. Earth below me. Fire within me. Drum got the hang of it fairly quickly, but not without small bouts of frustration when he got a really crappy hand or elation when he complete a set of suits easily. By then when they were starting to get some fun they would be approached by the PawnChessmon, it probably meant that things were starting to return to normalcy back up there.
As far as this bunch of vagabonds could be called normal, anyway.
"Let's go back, Degas." Drum said as he took a hold of one of the basket of colored roses laid on the bed. "It's showtime." He smiled weakly but with resolve, it seemed that he was a lot calmer than before when he entered this room. Going back to the upper deck was a silent affair, at least on his end as he mulled about Leyton's passing and wondered if he would be required to say something about the white-haired man.
Hopefully not; it would probably just make him look like a fool and besides, he had nothing good to say for Leyton since that one moment when he appeared ready to kill him on their very first meeting. As far as he knew the man probably bit more than he could chew and got what deleted as punishment.
OOC: Sorry for the holdup, I've been sick this week because of the flu and trying to work a reply always gave me a headache.

Degas Vilku Heart Breaker Drum picked up rather quickly for a new time card player. Though Degas had hiss hands. Soon it was over though as Hydes partner found them.
"Ahh, the pussy isn't wet anymore?" Degas teasingly asked. Seeing a big guy cry like that was never a fun sight. Honestly his respect for the leomon kind of dropped with that.
He grabbed the other two baskets and left the cards on the table. Drum could probably entertain him again later. 'You're just too lazy to take the ten seconds it would take to put them away.' Not lazy he just didn't want to waste time. He was curious about the aftermath.
His heels echoed against the metal once more as he went up the stairs. He looked to the three they seemed lightly distressed but not overly so. Which was good. It meant given a day or two things would be normal.
"Well we can throw them or shred them or both. I brought plenty so don't be shy." Degas said raising up the baskets of multiple colored roses. He'd probably throw a few overboard himself for the fun of it.
