ACT III: VENI, VIDI, VICI: ZO VS BRENNAN

Zo took a deep breath in silence. Was this really a good idea? Her eyes shifted down to Tate as he hovered next to her. The Digimon may not have looked like much, but he was wise beyond his years. He had managed to talk Zo into competing. They had to make sure Leyton didn't hurt anyone. Taking a deep breath, the girl gripped the strap of her bag tightly. The handle of an umbrella could be seen sticking out of it, tucked under the flap. It looked like a normal umbrella handle. As Tate and her stepped onto the arena, the crowd seemed to roar, but it wasn't in support of her. No, they were all hollering at her appearance. After all, she was such a small thing... And Tapirmon didn't look too impressive. Honestly, the crowd was probably more pumped to see what she'd do when compared to her more impressive looking opponents. In fact, even Zo was worried about her opponents. It wasn't that she was afraid of them. No, it was that she knew them. They had met in the plains. While they weren't good friends, they were friends. She let out a soft sigh as the arena around them transformed into the familiar savannah that they had met in. Zo didn't hold back. She couldn't. Her entire life she had either given it her all or given it nothing at all. Her eyes drifted up towards Brennan as she looked at him from across the arena. Her and Tapirmon had yet to move from the starting position. ”I'm going to give you one chance to forfeit,” she spoke clearly with a nod. Zo's gaze would shift towards Tate in a subtle glance. The two of them had spoken before entering the arena. They each knew what to do.

[attr="class","textie"]I'm going to give you one chance to forfeit. The words resonated with the air as Brennan stared at Zo, as much as he hated to fight a friend, he had no choice. Long ago he had deduced that something was up with Crow, and this tournament might very well be his only chance to find out what was so damn suspicious about the damn guy. Still though, Brennan hated that they had to fight in a Savannah, the place where they had met. It left a bitter taste in his mouth, but Dora was even more reluctant, the Digimon really liked Tate and Zo, and since he was the one who would actually be doing all the fighting... he was much worse off than Brennan was. But still, the two looked each other in the eyes and nodded. "I'm sorry, you two, but we can't forfeit... we have a very important reason to do as well as we possibly can. Still though, I hope we can overcome this entire thing later, no mater what the outcome of the match is?" Brennan desperately wanted to remain friends with Zo, but he knew a tournament like this was the original devastator of all kinds or relations, especially when you and your friend had to order your other friends to beat each other. It was a rather cruel and usual thing, but Brennan had to get to Crow. Brennan unclipped the orange and white Digivice from his belt, holding it in front of him. "Shall we get going, my dear friends?"

”Alright then.” Zo nodded softly as she crouched down into a ready position. Before they even entered the tournament, the girl had decided one thing. She wasn't going to let Tate fight alone. Zo may have been a human, but she wasn't going to use another living and sentient being as a shield. She was probably being reckless and stupid, but hey, the girl was stubborn. Tate had definitely tried to talk her out of it, but nothing had worked. Zo was determined. Tate would hop on his tamer's back and wrapped his stubby wittle hooves around her shoulders before she suddenly launched into a sprint. The girl was fast. The flat terrain of the savannah allowed for her to reach her top sprinting speeds. When she hadn't been taking care of her family, Zo had been one of her school's top track stars. It had seemed like such a small part of her life back then, but now it was becoming useful. In less than a couple of seconds, she was across the arena and less than ten feet from Brennan. That's when Tate raised his head. A howling sound could be heard before a thick cloud of purple gas was released in a sweeping spread around himself, Dora and both their tamers. He was attacking all of them with his Virus Release. Tate clambered onto his tamer's back, it seemed as though the Digimon would not be fighting alone, if that was the case, Dora wouldn't be fighting alone either. "Dora, get back!" Brennan yelled as Zo dashed towards them. By the time Zo would've been 10 feet from Brennan, the two's movement had altered who Virus Wave would affect. Dora was a good 5 feet outside of the attack's radius, and Brennan was right in front of the duo.

"Alright Dora, you know what to do!" Brennan yelled as he attempted to socked Tapirmon in the stomach as hard as he possibly could. After Brennan attempted to punch Tapirmon, regardless of the result, Dora shot a large metal sphere from his mouth, in the direction of Zo and Tate, it was traveling at rather rapid speeds.

Brennan stumbled out of the radius of Virus Wave as fast as he could, but the attack had already taken full effect. "Urgh... Dora, you might have to fight alone for a little bit, I'll try to help you from the sidelines." He shook his head, making sure to keep an eye on the duo who was fighting against them, just in case they attempted to assault Brennan.

"Alright, will do! Get well soon, Bren!" Dora growled as the red Interface on his forehead began to glow, it was an Interface Charge.

Abilities Used:
○ Dash Metal - Dorumon fires an iron sphere not unlike a cannonball from it's mouth at rapid speeds, able to deal significant damage and destroy small trees and doors.
○ Interface Charge (x1) - Every time Dorumon performs an attack, gets hit by an attack, or otherwise gets involved in combat, the interface on it's forehead begins to glow, this is known as an interface charge. Dorumon can accumulate 2 of these, and once they've been accumulated, it can supercharge one of it's attacks to make it more powerful.

Zo narrowed her eyes as Dora managed to get out of the range of the smoke- but Brennan hadn't. He was separated from his digimon now. Perfect. Zo would draw her umbrella from her bag in a swift motion before Brennan attempted to even punch Tate. She'd hold it from the top, pulling on the thin fabric that covered the closed canopy. The umbrella would smack into Brenan's shoulder, who was already too close to her in his punching endeavor. The umbrella would hit with an intense force. She'd use her sleight of hand to maneuver the umbrella's curved handle around Brennan's neck. There would be no stumbling away. He made the mistake to try and punch Tate. She then took advantage of the momentum of Brennan swinging his fist towards Tate to twist the umbrella handle and force him to spin in front of her by twisting the handle around his neck. The gas that messed with his momentum and balance would probably make it easier to twirl him to face his Digimon. Zo would use him as a human shield against the metal sphere. She'd then kick his knees from behind to push the disoriented tamer onto his knees. Zo pulled the umbrella up, having it act as a noose around Brennan's neck as she eyed Dora, whom was charging an attack. In one swift motion, Zo would pull out an umbrella, smacking the unfolded canopy onto Brennan's shoulder, the already disoriented teen stumbled backwards at least three feet, collapsing onto the floor, and Dora's Dash Metal flew over his head. "Shit..." Brennan muttered as he got up, he and Dora wouldn't be able to do any more with Dora in his Rookie form and Brennan disoriented as shit, so it was time to Digivolve. Dora leapt in front of the vulnerable Brennan, growling as Brennan pulled out an orange Digivice. "Alright... D-Digvolve, Dora!" He yelled, and Dora responded with a growl, his body quickly shifting, turning into a twelve foot tall ape with purple form. "Dorumon Digivolve to... Primon!!!" The ape stood in front of Brennan imposingly, ready to protect his tamer at any cost. "Note to self... don't get close." Brennan muttered to himself. Primon growled, his fur pricking up to defend himself and Brennan. Brennan was far from peak condition, but he was getting better, so he stood up slowly, making sure to stay behind Primon. Zo ordered the two to forfeit, but they grunted in unison, they were not going to forfeit, that was for sure.

As Brennan stumbled back, Zo didn't miss a beat. She followed him- quickly taking two steps to close the distance. The Dash Metal would rush past her- grazing Tate's shoulder. The Tapirmon would let out a grunt as he was knocked from Zo's shoulder. He landed in the dirt behind is Tamer, but he quickly got back up. The attack had strung, but not enough to take him down. Her red hair would fly up into the air as metal orb sped past them. The girl slid the umbrella down her grip. Her hand would grasp the handle quickly aiming to stab at Brennan. Then Dora jumped in front of him. Her eyes shifted to see him beginning to pull out a digivice. Zo knew a Digivolution was coming. The girl narrowed her eyes. Luckily, Dora had gotten fairly close in his attempt to protect Brennan. The girl had already been in stabbing position from before Dora jumped in. Before he could finish yelling out the word 'Digivolve', Zo stabbed forward- aiming to stab the sharp sword like tip of the umbrella through Dora's head. If the Digimon attempted to go to the side to avoid the attack, she would simply sweep it and follow. Zo didn't want to do it, but she knew Digimon would simply be reborn as an egg- Tate told her this. It was just like a losing a level in a game. She could easily restart. If by some miracle she missed or Dora 'tripped' out of the way of the attack and still managed to Digivolve, Zo's stab would probably rush through the air into Brennan. Of course, Zo wouldn't be aiming to kill Brennan. The attack would probably stab into the air holding the digivice in an attempt to make him drop it. Only if Primon managed to arrive on the field, Tate's eyes would glow brightly as a heavy black mist exploded out onto the field- filling it with an inky darkness that hid Zo and him from the Champion's view. Then, Brennan's blood curdling screams would begin to fill the air- coming from everywhere. As if there were a hundred Brennans in the fog being tormented. SPOILER: Click to show Abilities Used: ○ NIGHTMARE SYNDROME [First Post -Only if Primon appears] By releasing the nightmares he's gathered, Tate is capable of creating a horrific and hyper realistic illusion to drown his opponents in paralyzing terror. The range of effect is a 25 foot radius with Tate at the center. The effects last for up to five posts, but he may only use this once a thread (or day should the thread span multiple days) due to needing to restock on nightmares. ○ VIRUS RELEASE [Third Post] Tate can release a toxic cloud of nightmare residue that can make those who breath it in feel very ill. This illness causes people to see double, lose their balance and feel nauseous while also making it very difficult to concentrate. The cloud spreads in a ten foot area in front of him. Dora raised up his paw instinctively, and Zo's umbrella would end up slicing his claw clean off. He let out a cry of pain, momentarily distracted, enough to stop Brennan's command to Digivolve from working. Something clicked in Brennan's brain at that moment: they had to stay the hell away from Zo, and there was one surefire way to do that. "Dora, Armor Digivolve!" The Digimon glowed, grew to practically four times his original size. He was now clad in silver armor.

"Dorumon Armor Digvolve to Jetdramon!" Brennan jumped onto the silver armor, and Jetdramon exploded into the air, provided Zo didn't do anything to stop him, and he circled the arena, a good 20 feet above Zo and Tate. Brennan wasn't going to get on the offensive... not yet, for now, he would just bide him time. He had a plan in mind, and it would be devastating.

Zo would allow for them to Digivolve. She'd turn to pick up Tate as Brennan's digimon morphed. Out of her peripheral vision, she saw them fly up into the air. Her eyes glanced down to Tate for a brief moment. He would nod to her as his eyes began to glow. They hadn't gone high enough. The nightmares would release and suddenly, everything would go to hell for Zo and Tate's two opponents. Dora would suddenly feel and see Brennan being pushed off of him by a ball of energy that came out of seemingly nowhere. He'd fall faster than he could catch him. As he fell, the ground seemed to be further than twenty feet- more like fifty feet away. They must have flown higher than he realized. Still, it would all feel so real. Dora had to catch his tamer! He would die if he fell from that height. He wouldn't be able to feel Brennan on his back or hear his voice. He'd only feel him slip from his back after being hit and scream as he fell. Meanwhile, Brennan's nightmare would be the same- but opposite. It wasn't him who fell in his. No, Dora would suddenly be struck by a mysterious orb and go crashing into the ground. Brennan would feel the hard landing- even if Dora was still in the air. He looked seriously hurt- like she couldn't fly. He needed help. Tate would climb onto Zo's back once more as she held the umbrella over her shoulder and watched the spectacle of both of their opponents trapped in Tate's nightmarish illusions. To everyone watching, it would appear as if Brennan and Dora just went insane most likely. Zo hoped that Dora would end up crashing into the earth- taking himself out due to damage from his momentum. She also hoped that Brennan would end up hopping off the Digimon to check on his partner and either fall from twenty feet up into the air or end up crashing to the earth with Dora. Zo and Tate made eye contact, not only that, but it seemed as though the would be staying where they were, that meant a ranged attack, one that would reach Brennan where he was. They were planning something. Brennan knocked on Jetdramon's armor, and immediately, the Digimon began to fly higher with a surge of new speed, thirty feet higher to be exact, the two were now circling the arena at 50 feet up when Tate released his Nightmare Syndrome. Unless Zo found a way to get Tate 25 more feet in the air, the Nightmare Syndrome attack would not reach neither Brennan nor Dora. Figuring it was not safe to go down yet, Brennan decided he needed to bide his time more. Dora, in Jetdramon form, continued to circle around, it still wasn't time for the pair to launch their counterattack... they needed to wait. The time would come soon, very soon.

Tate let out a soft sigh as Brennan sped up into the air. ”He's only prolonging the inevitable,” he spoke with a soft sigh. The Tapirmon hated having to draw things out. Still, they'd have to. He wasn't going to unveil his champion forms in the first battle. He wanted the element of surprise in future rounds. Zo would shrug as she spoke. "Well then that's his choice," she spoke softly while holding out the umbrella and opening it. She brought it up over her shoulder- as if to shield from the sun's light. Zo brought her umbrella over her shoulder after having a short conversation with Tate. It was time. Brennan pulled out his Digivice, "It was a bad move, not finishing us off when you had the chance!" Brennan pulled a card out of his Satchel, swiping it across the card reader of his Digivice. "Alright, Dora, it's finally time for us to do this thing!" The card was a Plugin: Power Card. Jetdramon would now be 50% stronger temporarily. The Digimon sped up a little more, but suddenly slowed down, his wings pulsing with power. As Jetdramon circled at top speed, it suddenly veered off course, turning towards the middle of the arena and tilting downwards. The purple energy that had been charging in his wings traveled quickly, very quickly, towards Zo and Tapirmon.

If the attack hit Tapirmon, it might revert him back to his Fresh or In-Training form, or it might just turn him back into an egg. If it hit both of them, however, Zo could receive some very serious damage, both external and internal. Part of Brennan wanted one of them to get hit, so this could end already, but the other part felt bad for them... Regardless of the result of the attack, Dora would begin to circle the arena once again, this time higher in the air, eighty feet up.

○ Jet Speed - For every post that Jetdramon stays in play, it grows 20% faster, but this increase caps at 40%. Additionally, once Jetdramon's can sacrifice it's speed increase whenever it would like to boost it's next attack by however much of an increase it had built up. Also, Jetdramon can fly utilizing it's speed and wings. [40% increase sacrificed for equal atk boost]
○ Plugin: Power, 50% boost for 1 turn [Used card to further boost atk]
○ Jet Burst - Jetdramon begins to charge either it's wings, helm, or back spike with power, and after charging for a short amount of time, it can release a purple laser beam projectile that travels at decent speeds and can cut through rock, dealing decent damage to opponents. This has a two post cooldown. [Both buffs apply to this attack, making it 90% stronger. Almost 2x it's original strength]

Zo watched him silently as he tried to shout something from so high up. What was he saying? She couldn't tell. However, as her eyes narrowed and she raised her free hand to provide coverage to see more clearly, Zo cocked a brow. He was doing something with his Digivice, but she couldn't quite tell. Then, the Digimon begun to spin in a circle- circling around. Tate would whisper in her ear, ”He's charging an attack. Be ready.” Zo nodded softly as she kept an eye on the purple energy. The girl was already light on her feet, but she stayed in the exact same spot- watching and waiting for the last minute. The girl kept her body hidden from Brennan and Dora by shifting the umbrella ever so slightly. Her eyes would peek out over the umbrella's edge to watch them. Then, when Dora suddenly veered off course and began to tilt downwards, Zo knew what was coming. The girl would spring to the side as the purple energy left the wing and launched itself down towards her. Despite being a very fast attack, she had ample time to prepare. The distance the Digimon was from her gave her the split second needed to leap to the side. When the attack hit the ground and sent dirt flying up, Zo simple held her umbrella to the side. Zo and Tate easily jumped out of the way of the laser, it was quite the impressive feat. However, that didn't mean the attack hadn't affected the surroundings. Right beside Zo, there was a rather large crater, and while it wasn't doing anything of not at the moment, Brennan had a plan, but he wouldn't execute it quite yet. At this point, he saw no gain in having Jetdramon do anything except keep flying, "Alright, Dora, keep circling, but keep speeding up as well." He knew Zo probably would not be able to hear him from eighty feet down, but he was not going to risk revealing his plan quite yet.

As Jetdramon circled, Brennan decided a change, however slight, would be good, and said, "Dora, stop circling. Instead, fly from one edge of the arena to the other, and back again. Keep repeating this. It might throw of Zo and Tate..." Jetdramon grunted in agreement, veering off course and flying to the other edge of the arena quickly. Then, he turned around and touched the other edge, repeating this process until Zo did anything to stop him.

Zo shook her umbrella silently. The dirt that had been blown up onto it would fall to the ground at her feet. Tate would whisper into her ears as he watched Brennan and Dora above. She nodded softly to him and spoke. ”I know. They're not going to be able to.” Her voice seemed slightly annoyed, but otherwise somewhat concerned. ”I just hope he doesn't fall off when it happens. At that height, he'd die.” As she watched the flying Digimon fly back and forth, Zo narrowed her eyes. What was he planning? Her eyes watched him fly in one direction and then suddenly turn around.
