The events at the manor had done some good at the very least. Zo had managed to find her way to an actual city. The tall skyscrapers of the settlement had been visible for miles through the rolling hills of the savanna. After what seemed like hours of walking, she was able to get close enough to hear the noise of the city. As she got closer, she could see more and more figures in the distance. When Zo finally made her way onto the paved streets, she gulped silently. There were so many of those strange creatures around her still... and she had one of their eggs in her book bag. Gulping once more, her eyes shifted down to the bulging shape in her bag. She had no idea why that egg had been tucked away inside of the manor, but the girl knew that it definitely didn't belong there. Something had compelled her to pick it up and take it along with her. While there were still many of the strange... Digimon? Yes, Digimon. While she was still surrounded by the strange creatures known as Digimon, Zo felt somewhat at ease upon seeing human companions to the creatures. She couldn't understand what they were saying, but maybe she could still get help going back home? Taking a deep breath, the red head approached the closest human she could see and called out for him. Gulping, the blushing girl managed to speak. ”¿Hola? Um... hablas español?”

Terabyte city, the trio had history with this city and quite a bit of it too. Adam was well known along with his digimon as one of the cities saviors during the attack by the evil group known as the seven as well as the attack of a skull-greymon. It had gotten to the point that when Adam entered the city he had to put up his hood so that he wouldn't get mobbed or at least that would be the case if it wasn't for the fact that his guilds symbol along with his green hooded trench coat had become known as an easy way to spot him. Adam didn't mind some of the attention but the trio did like being able to just relax in town. They had arrived in the city early that morning to do a little shopping and just sort of lounge around. The trio was walking down the street minding their own business.

"Maybe you should get a new outfit while we're in town Adam. That shirt looks to be on it's last legs."

Renae the female Renamon giggled causing her young tamer to give himself a once over. He was wearing cargo shorts, a hole filled black t-shirt, his trademark trench coat, his digivice around his neck,his item pouch on his hip but no shoes. As he looked himself over he just huffed at his female digimon and crossed his arms.

"I look just fine thank you very much!

Remy the male Renaemon couldn't help but chuckle at his sister and his tamer bickering with one another. It was always funny to watch the usually polite Renae bicker with their tamer and best friend. Before he could get involved however he smelled a new scent approaching them his ears and tail twitching as he also smelled an unhatched digi-egg. He then just tapped both his sister and tamer on the shoulder and then pointed at the girl with the backpack.

"We have a newcomer by the looks of it."

Adam couldn't help but grin happily at this fact. He then pulled his digivice from around his neck and tossed it at Renae.

"Translator function just in case Renae."

Renae nodded and pressed a few buttons on the small device and set Adam's digivice to translate what ever Adam said to the language that the woman spoke once she spoke. Adam then walked up to the girl slowly but with a big smile.

"Hi, My name's Adam! You must be new to this world. Can we help you with anything?"

As her attention drifted to the two beasts next to the boy, the short girl gulped silently. There were two walking and talking foxes. They were probably the least disturbing of all the beasts she had seen so far, but still... They reminded her of stuff she had seen on the web... What were they called again? Furries? That was the English name for them if she recalled correctly. Wait, no- that wasn't important right now! She had to figure out where she was now! Right! Shaking her head in an attempt to clear the intrusive thoughts, Zo let out a deep breath. Glancing up at him, her brows furrowed under her large glasses as the boy seemed to mess with some weird device. Was he texting someone or playing some game!? She bit her lower lip with anxiety. When he approached her and began to speak, she let out a deep sign of relief. He spoke Spanish. That was great. Looking up to him, she smiled weakly and began to speak. ”Er yes! I... um fell through my computer screen... er, do you know where this place is? It looks like a city but there are these monsters- erk Digimon? Yeah, Digimon everywhere! Someone told me this was the Digital World, but I'm not sure what that means..?”

Adam just gave the young girl a small smile and then mimed out deep breathing motions to silently ask her to take a deep breath. She was so nervous and scared, Adam remembered when he would meet people like that who truly needed his help When she asked him where he was he decided to give her the best answer that he could. Before he said anything however he quickly ran to a nearby diner that had tables sitting outside and grabbed one and sat it in front of the girl. At the rate she was going she was gonna pass out.

"Take a nice deep breath. What they told you is true. This place is called the digital world, The best way I can describe it is that it's kind of the flip side to the human world. The creatures you see all around are known as Digital monsters or digimon for short. When you got sucked into your computer you were brought here. That egg you have with you is gonna hatch into a digimon, who will become your new best friend and partner. Humans are brought here and are paired up with digimon because they either wished for such a thing or because they were needed for something. What that is varies from person to person. I promise you that neither I or my team will hurt you."

Renae then stepped up gently, her tail wagging just a bit. She smiled at the young girl.

"Hello, My name is Renae and my yellow twins name is Remy. Can we get you anything? Are you hungry or thirsty? Everything here is safe for a human to consume."

Remy then stepped up and waved gently at the girl.

"That device you noticed my sister holding is known as a digivice. It's what's helping you understand Adam and he you. Us digimon have a sort of universal language while you humans speak different ones, so the devices act as translators. When you speak he hears English and he speaks you hear Spanish. These devices do a number of things like help us digimon grow stronger, they act as GPS's journals and what ever else a specific tamer needs them to be. Once your partner hatches you will be presented with one if you haven't already. Once you get it, keep it safe at all times. it's what helps your digimon protect you."

Adam blushed and nodded.

"Sorry if I just gave you more questions. I haven't done this in awhile."

At first his smile was reassuring.. but then he started- What was he doing? Zo blinked as she tilted her head. Was he... showing her a breathing exercise? Why was he charading it? A brief flicker of confusion was evident on her face as she watched him. Then he ran off to get a chair. When he placed it in front of her, she blinked. Did he get it or her? Her face turned a soft shade of red. Zo must have looked tired from the long walk from the manor to the city... Was it that obvious? With a soft bow of the head and a ”Thank you,” she sat down. As he began to speak, she listened intently. Zo placed the bag on her lap as she listened. The somewhat large egg rested on her lap as he spoke. So, this was a digital world... Or was it a mirror world? A flip side would be like a mirror right? Wouldn't that mean the world would be more similar to the human world then? The Digital World was so different... Zo chewed on her lower lip in thought as he continued to speak. At the mention of being sucked into her computer, she blinked. That made sense. The bright lights... Had she really been brought in through her computer? But... her monitor was too small to fit her- plus her chair. ”What!?” Her eyes widened at the mention of the egg hatching into a best friend and partner. What kind of partner!? Her face turned red as she looked down to the egg. Zo poked the egg hesitantly as her brow shifted up quizzically. Well... At least he promised he wasn't going to hurt her- Wait, would someone who wasn't going to hurt her even need to promise that he wouldn't? Gulping, she nodded softly. ”Er.. Alright..” When the foxes began to talk, she nodded attentively. ”Er right! Hello! Oh! Um my name is Zo!” she spoke, realizing she hadn't introduced herself. At the mention of hunger or thirst, she turned red and looked down. She had just spent all day walking. With a soft nod, she spoke. ”Erm yes... but not terribly. I dont need anything right now.” She didn't want to impose, and she was fine waiting to get something. At the mention of the digivice, Zo gulped. Something that small... It would be easy to lose right? Still, it sounded pretty cool. She was actually excited to get her own to play with- even if it meant she was stuck in this weird world. Patting the egg in her bag silently, Zo looked down in silent thought. As Adam spoke once more, she smiled and looked up. ”Ah no, it's alright. You explained a lot, and it was helpful.”

The trio looked at one another as the young red head exclaimed in confusion and shock at what they had told her. The digital world always did come as quite a shock to a lot of the new comers who had just been at home minding their own business or just spending time with their families when they were suddenly pulled away. Adam just slowly approached the girl but didn't reach out to her. He wanted to help her but wasn't really sure how to as well. He would just have to do the best he could for her.

"I know it's quite a shock. It can be kinda overwhelming at first but I choose to look at it like we were chosen for a reason and that we are needed here for something. You must be something special if you were brought here and presented with an unhatched digimon. The way it normally goes is the digimon finds us tamers but you found your partner as an egg which is a rare event. Listen, I would hate for you to leave so soon because you look super interesting but I think it's fair that I tell you...Once your egg hatches and you are given your digivice you will be able to open up portals to and from this world back to the human world. I'll even show you how if you like."


Renae could hear the sadness in her tamers voice, Adam was always quick to take a liking to someone and always hated it when they decided to leave the magical looking world that they lived in. Her tamer wasn't the kind of person to try and force something on someone so if she wanted to leave he would let her. Renae just sighed and smiled.

"Miss, if you want we can show you around the city, we could go shopping or grab some food while we wait for your partner to hatch. You won't be able to leave until that happens and it seems better then just sitting in the middle of the street yea? We will pay for everything."

Remy then nodded and just smiled at the girl.

"We'll protect you miss what ever your name is."

Zo continued to look down to the egg in her bag as Adam spoke. Her eyes shifted down silently. He told her she was special... That certainly wasn't true. She was just a coward who hid in her room most days- too afraid to see the light of day or the truth. Still, she smiled softly at his words. It was best not to let someone she just met know how she felt. She nodded along contently while her hand still pat the egg gently. At the mention of being given her own digivice, her eyes looked up- widening. She definitely wanted that. ”I hope he hatches soon then... I don't know if I'll go for good, but I'd like to go get a change of clothing,” she explained with a soft nod. ”I would appreciate it if you could show me how to do it once I receive the device- erm, Digivice, was it?” As the girl fox began to talk, Zo shifted to her. She smiled and nodded excitedly. ”Ah, I'd love to see the city! I don't want to impose though... So we dont have to shop,” she spoke politely. When the boy fox brought up her name, she turned a bright, bright red. How embarassing! She had forgotten to introduce herself. In a panic, she bowed her head deeply as she stood and hugged the bag with the egg close to her chest. ”Oh! Um! My name is Zo!”

Adam just smiled at the young and rather pretty red head standing before him as she said that she might return once she had a change of clothes. She then asked if he would show her how to open a portal to which he just nodded and smiled. He would help her with anything that she needed from him. When she said that she didn't want to impose the trio just laughed and smiled before Adam gave her a thumbs up.

"You're not imposing at all! This is what we do. As for clothes, the shops here have everything. They started carrying human clothing of all different styles since more humans began coming here. I'm sure you can find stuff that fits your style at least until you get home. You can't rush a digi-egg hatching. It happens when it's meant to happen though some say that when it comes to tamer bonded digimon, the tamer and the egg must be in sync. Like..the tamer must want the digimon with them. A digimon needs a human just as the other way around is true."

Adam then quickly hugged his digimon with a smile and then looked back at the red head.

"Wanna see something cool? Check this out. You guys ready?"

Both Remy and Renae nodded and then Adam pulled out his digivice and held it out causing it to glow with a bright green color. Remy and Renae were then both swallowed by green energy orbs as they began to digivolve.

"Renamon warp digivolve to!..Ware-garurumon!"

"Renamon warp digivolve to!..Taomon!"

When the orbs shattered and both ultimate level digimon were released, Renae bowed politely while Remy waved and gave the woman a big toothy grin. Adam just grinned at the girl.

"Don't be scared, they are still the same personality wise. They just have different physical forms and new abilities. This process is called digivolution. It happens when a digimon needs to tap into more strength or in a bonded digimons case, when their tamer needs them. This process has many different types and forms as you are about to see. This next one is called DNA digivolution."

Adam then held his digivice out and the two digimon were absorbed again in the energy orbs but this time they shot up a bit into the sky and began intertwining.

"Ware-garurumon dna digivolve to!..
"Taomon dna digivolve to!..

Once the orbs were a safe distance in the sky they mashed together into one orb before shattering.

"Cyberdramon!"

When the new mega level digimon landed by the two tamers they waved at them with a smile and Adam just grinned.

"This is Remane. I know not a very creative name for the twins combined together. I just mashed their names together."

The mega level just waved and grinned more.

"Hi"

When they spoke, their voice was a mash up of the twins voices with an emphases on Remy's voice. They then looked at their tamer who just patted their head.

"Go patrol the cities outer wall. They still haven't finished rebuilding it yet from the skull-greymon attack."

The mega level then nodded and took to the air using their wings to fly at high speed toward the outer wall. Once they were out of sight Adam looked at the young girl.

"You hungry? I know a great diner in this city. I kinda have to return the chair anyway."

Adam then picked up the chair he had borrowed since the girl was standing and started walking toward a small looking dinner which had seating both inside and outside which served many different genre's of food.

Zo, while slowly adjusting, was still somewhat shell shocked and bothered by the whole situation. Being held practically hostage in a digital world wasn't her idea of a fun time- especially with dangerous monsters around. As Adam spoke, she nodded along, but her eyes were beginning to notice the damage to the city around them. She kept her smile sincere and her obvious attention on the talking boy, but she surveyed the damage discretely from her peripheral vision. The Digital World seemed very dangerous from the looks of it. As he insisted that she wasn't imposing, Zo nodded softly with a sigh of relief. ”Ah alright then... Thank you,” she spoke softly. He said that a tamer needed the digimon and the other way around... Zo wasn't sure she wanted to be in a situation that required that. Before she could consider the thought much more, the show started. Visibly startled by the sudden bright lights, she jumped in her seat and her glasses shifted awkwardly. Suddenly the two foxes were... taller and in clothes? Zo watched blinking softly as her face paled. What had happened? As Adam explained Digivolution she nodded slowly, taking it in slowly. And then they turned into a humanoid dragon. Her brow twitched as she stared at it. What..? How was this even possible? Were Digimon just some strange advanced form of Tamagachi that changed shape? As Adam told them to go patrol, Zo learned something. Something called a Skull-greymon had attacked the city. That explained the damage... When he spoke of getting diner, Zo smiled politely- ready to decline until her stomach rumbled. Her face turned red as she stood and stammered. ”Er … um... yeah alright... lead the way!”

Adam smiled and slowly made his way toward the diner which had the plant like Palmon working as the waiters and waitresses even wearing cute little aprons. As he walked he seemed to have a skip in his step and just a happy aura about him. Once they got to the diner, Adam put the chair back where he found it and then pulled it out for Zo to sit in before sitting in one himself after removing his coat and gently laying it on the back of the chair but the way he handled it it was like it was the most precious thing in the entire world or at least his world. Once he sat down he grinned at Zo.

"Zo you will love the food here! In my opinion it's the best food you can get in all of the four continents. They serve food from all over the human world and their baked goods are to die for! This is where we come to eat when ever we leave our jungle home. They have a huge menu so feel free to order what ever you want and however much you want! I recommend trying their honey glazed rolls with your meal. I normally get a grilled cheese and french fries with a soda."

Adam grinned happily showing his rather sharp looking teeth and yet did not look menacing at all. It wasn't long until one of the Palmon in an apron walked up to the outside table holding one menu which she promptly sat in front of Zo with a polite bow saying she would be back in a few moments once the girl had time to decide on her order. While Zo looked at the menu Adam decided he would try and get to know her a bit better so that maybe his friendship would be one of the reasons that she came back to the digital world.

"So Zo, if I may ask what kind of stuff do you do in the digital world? I haven't been there for an extended period in about eight years so I'm not really sure what people are age are supposed to do for fun. I've spent the last eight years keeping the digital world safe. I am a bit out of touch I guess you could say."

Adam then blushed a small blush as he leaned back in his chair as he stole a sideways glance at the pretty red head in front of him.

"You can ask me anything you want about me or my digimon..by the way..if I may politely say so..You look pretty with your glasses and hair and stuff."

Zo followed Adam towards the diner. She would eye the smaller plant like Digimon as they worked. Her eyes widened as she looked over their petals and flower like heads. They were kind of cute. The waiters and waitresses were even wearing adorable tiny aprons. She gripped the edge of her shirt as she eyed them before noticing that Adam had pulled a chair out for her. Zo gave him a soft nod. ”Thank you,” she spoke gently before sitting down. As Adam started talking, she nodded along slowly. From his huge grin to how much he spoke, Zo felt somewhat... put off. Her face didn't show any bit of her inner feelings as her gentle smile stayed in it's rehearsed place, but she felt a bit overwhelmed. The whole situation was tiring and draining. A new world and a new friend... And monsters. At least the food here was good? Her eyes would drift down to the menu in silence. She didn't really care what she ate. Reading through such a large menu... was tiring. With a bright smile, Zo closed her menu and gave a firm nod. ”Ah! I think I'll get that then! A grilled cheese and a soda sounds nice!” She'd smile politely as he continued to talk. When he asked what she did in the real world, her face went blank for a moment before becoming flustered. A hand came up to scratch at her cheek awkwardly as she laughed softly. ”Ah... haha... erm I wouldn't really know much about what other kids do.. I normally just stay at home and watch movies or play video games,” she explained. Her eyes would widen as something connected. ”Eh? You've been here for eight years?!” she asked, clearly shocked. ”Why have you been here so long!? What about your family!?” His comment on her hair and glasses seemed to have completely bypassed the girl as she was shocked by the amount of time he had been in such a strange world.

Adam listened intently to every word that Zo spoke. He nodded when she said that she would have the same thing as him and then just listened carefully as she told him that she was into staying inside and playing video games or be on her computer. He guessed that that was part of the culture she was born in while he had brought up to be outside loving thanks to where he was born. He just smiled a small smile at her.

"I was born in Brazil near a jungle. My parents run an animal sanctuary so I was taught to do things like run and climb and take care of animals at a very young age. We owned a tv and a computer but the computer was mostly used for my parents work stuff but sometimes they let me plug in a controller and play some games. A lot of the time though I was doing stuff like playing with the animals or climbing trees."

When Zo acted shocked about how long Adam had been in the digital world without his family he just blushed but did look slightly ashamed even looking away for a moment, all the boundless excitement he once had disappearing as if it had never been there. It took a few moments for Adam to look back at Zo but his face was saddened a bit.

"It's not like I didn't try..I can use my stupid digivice to open up portals to different places in the human world but I could never get one to open up in the country where I live. I've tried over and over. I just decided to block it out and focus on my job here. The digital world needs me and my digimon to help protect it and besides it's been far longer for me then it has my parents. It's only been four years for them. They probably decided to have another kid or something..."

It was clear that beneath all of the excitement, Adam was still a sad boy who truly did miss his parents but had been thrust into the role of leader and protector. It wasn't long before the Palmon came back and asked in a small sweet voice what they would like to eat. Adam just smiled.

"We will both take a grilled cheese and a coke please."

Zo's eyes went wide as he spoke about living on an animal sanctuary in Brazil. That sounded amazing. The closest thing to a wild animal Zo had ever been near before coming to the Digital World was a squirrel. Even then, it was still pretty far as the squirrel ran away. She had never even had so much as a hamster or dog. Then again, she had spent most of her childhood helping to take care of her siblings, so there hadnt been enough time for pets... At the thought of her siblings, Zo bit down on her lower lip for a brief moment before smiling brightly towards Adam. ”That sounds really cool! Haha! The only wild animal I've ever been near is a squirrel!” she laughed while rubbing the back of her head. However, when his expression dropped, she looked down silently. If he was having trouble using his digivice to get home... Then how did she know she wouldn't have something similar happen to her? She grit her teeth silently. Zo couldn't leave her father alone. He had already lost his wife and other kids- he couldn't lose another person. Looking up at him, Zo stood up an slammed her hands down on the table. Her soft voice raised up in anger. ”That's so selfish!!!” she started. Her loud voice would cause those in the diner to look their way. ”That's... horrible! And lazy! You got back to the human world! Adam's eyes went wide as the normally reserved young girl stood up and started calling him selfish for not looking his parents up and accusing him of not wanting to go home. Adam just stood up, his body rigid his facial expression fierce but his eyes betrayed him and showed the broken heart that lied beneath it all. He just crossed his arms and clenched his hands around them in frustration as it was clear he was trying to fight back tears.

"Don't you think I've thought about doing that time and time again! Of course I want to see them again and go home but look at me! This world has turned me into a feral looking animal child! Not to mention I was branded with a mysterious dark mark by the dark forces that I can't seem to get off no matter what I do! God knows what will happen if I take this mark back to the real world with me! It could corrupt them or even worse kill them! Let's not mention the fact that digimon without partners are able to find their way to the human world now! My name is kind of well known now so what's to stop a digimon from following me home and getting to them before I did and killing them! I stayed away to protect them! I..I don't know if I'm strong enough...to keep them safe in the real world. I couldn't go on living if they died because of me."

Adam then just pulled out his digivice and pulled up a hologram picture of himself as an 8 year old standing next to his parents. He then just tossed it onto the table for Zo to see. The picture had words under it that said "never forget" and then the date he had been sucked up into the digital world. He may have gone on tons of adventures but he never forgot or never thought about his beloved parents.

"I'm to dangerous to be around Now! I love them to much to expose them to all of this!"

Adam then sat back down in his chair, his face now covered in tears since Zo brought up such painful memories.

"You have no idea what it's like. You're my age now and just got here! I was ripped away from them at the age of eight! I've had to survive here for seven years! That kind of life changes a person! Don't you EVER say I don't want to go home! I want that more then anything in the world but I know that until this world is safe it is to dangerous for THEM if I go home. Every time I've gone to the human world recently it was to defeat or bring back a dark corrupted digimon and to save lives! It wasn't for a picnic."

You've already taken it there!” The girl would grab her bag from under the chair and slide it onto her shoulder. ”Thanks for the help, but looking at you is pissing me off. It's like you're too selfish to understand the pain of losing a child! Claiming to be doing it to protect them! I doubt your parents would care so long as they could know that you're safe!
