11:42 A.M – Terabyte City – Sunday
A day off allows for a day of adventure. Ever since he got this strange device (a Digivice as it was called when he first arrived a few months back), he’d become enamored with exploring this. How did this work? How does data become living? He was never for technology, but thankfully besides for opening a Digiport, there was barely any to interact with. The cities looked like his cities, the villages like his. Just populated with children and odd, odd monsters. The card game was real and that changed everything. This was something he could touch. This was something he could experience. Digimon would notice him and he would notice them, so much like actual people that it almost dipped into the uncanny valley.
At the moment, he was touching a burger. It tasted like meat and bread, so it had to be. As he chewed, slowly stepping down the street, he became more and more lost in thought. How does this exist? What made it? Why? He felt like a colonist, stepping onto a new world that was already developed. Did his digivice have anything to do with it, or were angels just as commonplace as giant talking cacti and had no meaning? He hadn’t seen any, but he certainly saw other children. Some much younger than him, very few that were older, but they had Digimon almost attached at the hip with a friendship that absolutely confused him. He was a stranger in a strange land still, but they seemed right at home. How long have they known? And how long has this actually been here? Motoya crumpled the burger wrapper in his hand and tossed it lazily at a trash can. It bounced off, but he didn’t notice. He still had too much to figure out and he didn’t like being behind the curve.

[ ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER WAY ]
He watched from afar, atop the hot dog stall, much to its operator's chagrin. The Ogremon was angrily trying to swat him off from below, but Katsuro was far too agile in this Shadramon form, and definitely concentrating far too much on being constantly vigilant to let that affect him in the slightest. It was almost noon, today, which meant he'd performed almost four hours of his statuesque sentinel duties atop indeterminate city structures, howling at jaywalkers and unleashing swarms of bees upon any vagrant Jijimon who caused fuss. It almost seemed to be remaining calm, as if the morning had settled, now, and it would be a lazy eastern afternoon here in Terabyte City, when he heard it; half a block over, down the road. A human... at a burger stall. His great, indignant chomps, tearing bites out of the stinking meat; as he walked, the Shadramon flitted from building to building, growing closer as he remained unaware, locking his gaze and following him. He knew how this tale would end. The boy flicked away the wrapper, the litter rolling away from the mouth of the trash can and down into the road, where it rested, an ugly, illegal eyesore remaining there. It was time; justice was at hand. He fluttered his wings once in preparation before beginning his descent, angling it so that he landed directly in the Tamer's path, standing as a steadfast blockade. "You do know," He extended an accusatory gauntlet to point at the distant ball of thin paper upon the tarmac. "Littering is a crime, here in Terabyte City. And we do not tolerate crime, or crime...in.. criminals. Especially not me." Pah. This pathetic excuse probably didn't even know who he was! "Pick it up."ATTACKS USED: NONE HIVEMIND STACKS: 1

Bump. Hard shell. He wasn’t walking fast enough to really get tripped up but he met some very enthusiastic resistance. What the hell was this? Some sort of hot rod moth? Motoya’s eyes followed flared out egg hand towards the ground and saw that small ball of greasy paper, the remnants of an ok burger. I guess I missed. I’m getting sloppy. The voice was strange. Sounded like it was filtered through a kazoo, almost amusing. It was almost surprising that someone had gotten so bold as to point out a minor infraction, especially a digimon. While they could be friendly, most kept distance, at least from him. Motoya adjusted his glasses and lips accordingly, giving the small thing a smile. He was getting odd vibes from this digimon. Something was off with it. “Oh, I do apologize, I must’ve missed,” he affirmed as he started back towards the ball. It was on about something, in a very demanding tone. He was close enough to tap it with his big toe when the digimon warned, “Pick it up.” Oh. Oh so that’s how you’re going to be.
“I must say that I do appreciate how well you are….committed to looking after the city and I do hope you have a nice day. But I do not take kindly to threatening tones. If I am at all mistaken, then all is forgiven. If I’m not, then we could certainly have a problem.”

[ THE VIGIL CONTINUES ]
“I must say that I do appreciate how well you are….committed to looking after the city and I do hope you have a nice day. But I do not take kindly to threatening tones. If I am at all mistaken, then all is forgiven. If I’m not, then we could certainly have a problem.”Katsuro, in his Shadramon form, blinked. A problem? This solitary, troublesome human seemed to be objecting to the righteous carriage of justice. He remained steadfast and watched as the boy's hand hovered over the crunched paper ball, not committing to putting it in its rightful place nor leaving it there. Indecision. Limbo. Apathy. There was no room for apathy when vigilance was abound. "Committed? Committed!?" Katsuro began to laugh; his lungs as Shadramon were smaller and his larynx tighter. It was a high-pitched chortle, mocking and nigh-on delusional. He snapped into silence after a split-second. "I, fool, am the Osuzumebachi, the rightful sentinel and guardian of this city and this world, the self-appointed spearhead of virtue and the last line of defense against those who would break these digital laws, no matter how minor or moderate they may be considered in the eyes of the common populace!" It was clear he did not know who the Osuzumebachi was, indeed. "My tones are not threatening, but those of absolution!" He stepped forwards, raising his hackles and leering at the human. "A problem with me is a problem... WITH JUSTICE!" His accusatory limb extended once more. "So perhaps I should ask you, just for clarification, because I'm not sure I can bee-lieve precisely what I heard, boy.""Do you intend to become..." His tones hushed and his bulbous black eyes narrowed, their horizontal lids closing slowly to reveal tenebrous slits. He fluttered his wings once; a twitch in all the tension, their incendiary patterns a crest of flame rising up swiftly behind him. "...violent?"ATTACKS USED: NONE HIVEMIND STACKS: 2

It was at this time, as this….Osuzumebachi went on with his grand-standing, that Motoya was met with another novel concept. Digimon, like humans, were capable of delusions of grandeur. ‘Rightful sentinel’? My Lord, he mused, they certainly don’t have mental hospitals in the digital world, do they? Motoya’s teeth started to compact against each other to keep himself from laughing. He scooped up the ball and shot it again and the litter swished into the can, nothing but bag. Bee-ootiful. “Don’t sell yourself so short,” he chuckled, “to be sure you aren’t the last line. You seem a very threatening and worthy crusader.” Hints of sarcasm. Just small sprinkles, as if one pinch would set the whole dish off. It made a step forward, spouting something or other about absolution and justice. Now it was its turn for a question, because he seemed already confused. As was Motoya, I mean really, this world got stranger all the time. “Do you intend to become,” He saw the look. Even with no ability to move a forehead, the eyes said everything. Motoya had learned that the mental disabled were not to be trifled with in the human world, and humans weren’t capable of shooting lighting from their eyes or sending you to a horrific dream world. He watched, eyes behind the glass looking at the creatures, for a sign. Anything. Some digimon barely had to move to get ready to attack. And some you never saw coming. The twitch. The wings. It set him off, with all that fire motif he had a good idea of what it was capable of. And he knew he couldn’t survive as a human. Even if he lost, he’d still live. And he’d come back. The digivice flew into his hand, a ring of code to the other. It appeared unstable and fragmented: incomplete. But it still worked. EXECUTE, SPRITE EVOLUTION: LUCEMON! He took one, two, three hops back. They both had wings now. He didn’t know who was faster. He was outmatched. But he’d faced similar handicaps before. Just not with superpowers. “Only if I have to,” he called. He may take chances on his own bluffs. He didn’t with others.

[ TERABYTE DEFENDER ]
"You seem a very threatening and worthy crusader.” Katsuro twitched. It was an obviously-less-than-sincere remark; and when the human began to evoke the ring of code, grasping his Digivice, it all became clear. Civilians backed away, some forming small pockets of onlookers and watching. The light clung to him for a few moments, as it had done for Katsuro many a time before; Digivolution. This was another like him, who had the blessing of a base spirit, part of the foundation of the very Digital World they stood upon. "Hm." Katsuro grunted, before shaking his head and watching the light fade. Digivolution was alone threatening; but somehow, the boy, instead of gaining size and power, had begun to... shrink? It faded, and he was still human; winged, perhaps, but younger and with a look of less experience about him, youthful tenacity on his face aside. The Code of the Osuzumebachi was strict, though; woman, man, or child, human or Digimon, continued infraction had to be punished -- and to the best of his ability, stopped. “Only if I have to,” That was all it took. Crime, an aggressive Digivolution, and now continual defiance? The trifecta of any perpetrator of contemptuous yet minor villainy! This boy was clearly an apprentice fearmonger, a young and brainwashed student of the Digital caliphate. This was threatening behaviour -- and the Code dictated that it needed to be stopped. "No, you see, you have threatened the good people of this city and, I, the agent of their safety and justice, one too many times!" He assumed a combative position, trying his best to leer and look threatening. This was all still a bit fresh in his mind. "Your falsehoods and the fear your bee-liefs spread will not corrupt this city, terrorist!" He felt the fresh speed and resilience of the Spirit of the Hive at his back. It was still swelling, growing more powerful. "FLASH BUSTER!" He gave no warning, sprinting towards the Lucemon and slamming his gauntlets together; a great burst of blinding gold-white light, and a shrill, disorienting whine, began to surge outwards from the Shadramon. Civilians began to cry out around -- those who would also unfortunately suffer the effects of this attack. It was unfortunate, but the ends justified the means: you could not make a justice-flavoured omelette without breaking no eggs! ATTACKS USED: FLASH BUSTER HIVEMIND STACKS: 3

IS. IS THAT MANGANESE? WAS THAT MANGANESE? I JUST GOT FUCKING FLASHBANGED, JESUS CHRIST! Similar lines passed through his mind as he attempted to keep his head from splitting open, hands gripping at his hair as he stumbled back. He couldn’t hear and even when he closed his eyes, he saw blinding white. He was still facing the same way, wasn’t he? He’d hoped he was; cause forward went his wings and with them a deafening yell: “ANGEL RAIN!” That could maybe slow him down. He couldn’t fly, he’d just end up dive-bombing into a dumpster. He couldn’t run far, or at all, he could barely stay on his feet. But he had to fight. He had no idea what he had in store for Motoya. ”Terrorist!” He had proclaimed. For littering? FOR LITTERING?! The moth had every circuit loose. If he’s that deluded….Help. Motoya needed help.
He tried to find which way his back was facing and started going. Stumbling, dragging his feet he tried to use his body as a cane. Bump. Bump, bump. Bodies. He was hitting people. They were few and far between but he could find people. He struggled to stay on track, hoping they would get thicker. A city is a city. A city has police, don’t they?
“SOMEONE HELP ME! I CAN’T SEE AND I’M BEING CHASED BY SOME FLAMING MOTH!” He screamed, trying his damnedest to hear himself, but as loud as he was he still couldn’t. For now, he just had to run. There was no fighting blind. He was not Daredevil.

[ FLASHBANG FOLLOWUP ]
Katsuro grinned the best he could, clicking his insect snout together triumphantly, ceasing to break speed as the Lucemon toppled and stumbled his way through the sidewalk, tripping over and bumping into numerous onlookers. Most had shuffled out of the way by the time Katsuro had arrived in hot pursuit, his wings flared out behind him and his feet a blur. “ANGEL RAIN!” The attack caught him by surprise, but the Lucemon had been fast; at this point, there was enough distance between them that he dropped his body to the floor and carried his momentum forward, sliding through beneath the storm of feathers. Though it had been haphazardly aimed, several of them grazed his armour. The Shadramon winced as the iridescent white incisions the feathers had left faded, but ultimately remained. He got to his feet and carried on bolting towards the lawbreaker. With the Hive at his back, growing stronger in the back of his mind with every passing moment, his feet growing swifter, he would catch the Lucemon. That was inevitable. Soon enough he had caught up close enough to hear the cry for help: "...SOME FLAMING MOTH!”"NOT A MOTH!" He was bounding forwards now, his wings twitching and beating to propel him forward in great bounding leaps. "THE OSUZUMEBACHI!" He roared, a smile forming. With every leap, he was closing the gap. With the last, he pulled himself upwards and began to spin in mid-air. His hands begun to heat up, before bursting into great orange wreaths of fire moments later. "SPIRAL BLAZE!" If the attack connected -- and it had been executed perfectly, upon a stumbling, disoriented, stunned target, with the timings perfect -- as Katsuro landed, his spiraling body would connect with Motoya by way of his flaming fist, whilst the residual flames still trailing in an off-kilter circle about him, forming an infernal afterimage of where the Shadramon had been milliseconds earlier. Irrespective of the result, Katsuro skidded out in front of the Lucemon and bore his hackles before releasing a snarl, blocking his path -- lest he doubled back and ran the way he had come, like the coward he most clearly was.
