DREAM OF PARADISE
|
I
Grace came down here with the human nonetheless. Whether it was for Julie's sake or for curiosity of what lies beneath Terabyte City either of them did not know. Her paws stepped in damp, questionable atrocities and she would yelp or moan every other foot. It came to the point when she demanded that Julie carry her, and the girl obliged partially because she wanted her Digimon's comfort and hugging her fit the bill.
Julie paused and looked up to see a beam of light striking down on them. "This looks like the place it fell..." she said and lowered Grace onto the platform. "Let's get started then," Grace muttered and lowered her nose to the flooring and sniffed. They were on the other side of a flowing, water pathway that Julie could guarantee held various germs, parasites, and non-too-kind Digimon.
"I have a scent," said Grace and pointed towards a dark area of the sewer. Julie grimaced and looked back towards the entrance way. She could go back. She didn't have to bring Grace down her to retrieve her 'frivolous' item. Her brother would understand and get her another one. No, that wouldn't work. It was a birthday gift and it was special to her. She had to get it back, or at least try to.
"Well...are you coming?" Grace asked a bit impatiently and sat on the ground. Julie looked unsure of what her next move will be. Grace knew which move they should both take: the path back towards the entrance. Rumors about terrible Digimon lurking in these depths crossed both of their sets of ears-- Grace was more wary of the dangers because she had to do all of the fighting. Even though she partly enjoyed it, that did not mean she wanted to spend all of her time doing. With a sigh, Julie turned towards Grace and gave a nod. "Let's do this."
---
Grace collapsed to the ground, but her will refused to back down. She was weak, beaten, and bruised. Patches of dark spots and blood marks decorated her cream fur, but Julie seemed to take the brunt of the damage. They had found her choker alright. It was in the clutches of an Ogremon, and a smelly one at that. He had his grimy hands all over it and when Julie - politely- asked for him to give it back, he laughed in their faces and demanded that they take it from him. Grace, not liking his attitude, charged at him with her Sledge Crash*, but that barely stunned the Ogremon. He used his Pummel Whack attack on the Salamon which she barely dodge. The energy of his attack focused on her right hind leg, rendering her injured. This wasn't going to be an easy battle, so she ordered Julie to take off and let her take care of it.
But that didn't happen. Her stubbornness caused her to stay. Grace released her Puppy Howl* in order to paralyze the Ogremon, and she barked at Julie to take her choker and run. She did as instructed and grabbed the jewelry from his hand, but the Ogremon broke out of the state early and when Julie was about to run, he grabbed her leg, causing her to fall over. He asked her where does she think she was going and squeezed her leg until he heard a satisfied 'crunch'. She let out a shrilling cry which caused Grace to get out of her stupor and charge at him with a flurry of Petty Punches*. Those were ineffective as well and he aimed a Bone Cudgel at the Salamon. The club connected to her gut she was sent flying in the other direction. Once she landed against the cement wall, he sent an unavoidable Pummel Whack towards Grace. Struck with its fury, she slid to the ground in a heap of fur.
--
As her memories from the battle swelled back into her mind, her vision began to blur. She can barely make out the limp Julie and the disgusting Ogremon on top of her, choking the life out of her in a cruel joke of giving her the 'choker' back. She clutched her item as her life force was slowly slipping away. Her blue eyes looked at Grace's own blue hues and she gave an apologetic smile. She mouthed words towards her that she didn't hear but understood and struck her core nonetheless.
That was it. That was why she chose to go into the depths of hell to retrieve her necklace. That was why she put up with all of Grace's childish antics and rude behavior. It was also why she held her so closely at night and sung a sweet lullaby with the lyrics mentioning her name and being amazing.
Love.
As soon as the realization hit, a warm feeling began to grow within her. A beam of light struck from underneath the murky water and a form rose up from the deep. The form took the image what looked like an egg with wings on the side of it. 'Was that a-
'
She didn't have a chance to complete her thought because the warm sensation inside of her grew stronger and the light from the water enveloped her. She can feel herself changing and shifting form. She felt her limbs grow longer, her neck stretching, and something beat on her back. The light disappeared and what was left was a being that did not look like Grace at all.
---
The Ogremon let out a nasty curse and Grace smirked at the remark. He released Julie who had an interesting look on her face as she gazed at her Grace. The Ogremon hurled a Pummel Whack towards Grace's way but Grace used an attack that reversed it back at him by flapping her wings. Wings. There were wings on her back! Julie heard her mention something about White Wings Flapping*, but she was unsure. Everything hurt and it was hard to breathe let alone concentrate on Grace. She was so beautiful...Given, she was beautiful before, but this another type of beauty. Her moves were fluid as she easily dodged the Ogremon's attacks. It was like she was dancing and was another being entirely. The Ogremon swung his club at her but to no avail. She was too quick for him, too fluid, too...
Graceful. A smile fell on her lips as she slipped into the darkness that awaited her.
But darkness did not have a strong grasp on her. A warm glow and a sweet song enveloped her. Her eyes flew open and fell onto the beautiful figure above her. She felt better all of a sudden. Not completely healed, but she believed she could limp out of her without much problem.
"Silly girl," said the winged Digimon who stroke her head lovingly. "Not taking off when I told you too. Tsk tsk." She smiled and gently placed Julie onto her back. Her arms wrapped around her neck and she snuggled in close. "You're not my Salamon, are you," asked Julie.
"Far from it," replied Grace. "I'm your beautiful Swanmon."
End.
