People that described the Dark Area as evil didn't know what they were talking about. The architecture of Necropolis Claire found particularly artistic, even beautiful. If she was quite honest, she preferred the dark, gothic atmosphere of the Dark Area's capital over other cities. It was artistic even, and certainly a more colourful backdrop to adventure than many of the other cities in the Digital World.
Past the Dark Corridors and to the city, where she would meet him at the "port" of sorts- surely the boy she recruited could handle that much. She waited for him where the boats from the dark corridors typically came in, keeping an eye out for the face she had met only briefly beforehand- short, light hair, a baby-face, no older than eighteen and most likely younger. They'd met in Terabyte City not long ago, Claire trading his help as an extra hand in exchange for guidance in the Dark Area. He'd seemed very green, but he'd do for what she had in mind. No doubt, if he hadn't decided to bow out preemptively, Claire was hoping to have a bit of fun at the young boy's expense.
But who knows? Maybe he'd surprise her. Unlikely, but maybe.
The woman pulled at her gloves, flexing her fingertips in them. Today she wore her usual outfit- clothes made from tough material and well-worn from battle for a reason. They were no chainmail armor, of course, but were sufficient protection from light blows and scrapes. After years in the Digital World, she always expected to need it.
Walter stood beside her contained in Lopmon form, paws behind his back and chest thrust forward, tufts of fur blowing gently in the naturally cool wind of the city. They wouldn't be relaxing for long, he knew- despite Claire's easy anticipation at the thought of the possibility at playing yet another not-so-harmless prank, the Lopmon was apprehensive.
He didn't want to bother her about it yet again, but the dark under Claire's blue eyes was slightly more noticeable today than usual. She should be catching up on her rest safely in her room, but all of her attempts at sleep seemed to end in frustration and boredom, more often than not. It was disconcerting, but his worries fell on deaf ears.
Plus, he was also concerned about the very reason they'd bothered recruiting someone to begin with. He knew Claire had confidence in their abilities, but he did wish sometimes she'd be a bit less... careless, when it came to hired help- one day, they would legitimately need it.
