The gleaming sunlight gleamed down harshly on the land of the Overdell Plateaus. The area was a large series of dry and stony mountains, forming canyons and cliffs. It reminded Serah of the Grand Canyons. When she was little, her family took her on a trip there, when her father was stationed in the U.S. for a while. However, Serah was little back then. They didn't have such grand scenery like that in Japan. It felt strangely nostalgic to be there as they walked up the spiraling hills leading further in.
"Um, ma'am?" the chipper, but somewhat hesitant voice of her partner said behind her. "Ma'am?"
A sigh escaped Serah as she wiped some sweat from her brow. "Commandramon, I told you. Stop calling me, ma'am."
"Sir!" he replied. Another groan escaped her.
Turning around, the blonde teenager looked back to her digimon partner. It had been 2 months since she discovered her digimon, and even less since she joined DATS for her exceptional skills and being his partner. Somehow, being a digimon programmed for a militiary scene, the little digimon was annoyingly 'dutiful' to his role and found her to be his commanding officer.
The digimon, COmmandramon, was a chipper and energetic digimon. Before her, she saw the little dinosaur-like digimon clad in military armor. His skin was a strange pixelation that actually blended in with the surrounding. Normally he would be navy-blue and green-- but now he was a dusty orange-- blending into the rocks of the canyons around him. His eyes and gun remained unchanged, as he carried the little riffle he always had over his shoulder.
Serah leaned forward bothered, her hands on her hips. "I am too young to be called a 'ma'am' , got it? Jeez. why can't you call me Serah?" she said.
Commandramon smiled a toothy smile and raised a hand up in salute. "Force of habit. I mean after all, you are a sharp-shooter way better than me. That makes you my commanding officer! "
Serah rose up and continued on, not bothering to answer. It seemed Commandramon was inside a video game she played online. After a conflict between fighting him in game, and repelling a virus attack-- he appeared and was so taken by her skill as a sniper in the shooter MMO, he grew fond of her to call her his commanding officer.
It was their first time into the digital world, so Serah wanted to take the time to look around and take in the terrain. She knew how to get home if she had to, but for now, she wanted to explore before she had to return to Dats.
