Thief's Gambit

[Zachary Scryer]

The roar of the city never ended, earning the title of the city that never slept. Day and night, everyone was busy doing their own activities and focused on their own issues. Never would anyone wonder what was going on elsewhere in the city. It was late evening around midnight. However, as most would be winding down from the day-- Zachary and his black panther digital monster partner were occupied with other issues. 

A digimon had appeared, and naturally they had to sneak out. Zachary hated having to leave in the middle of the night, sneaking out from his parents, but Panthermon convinced him it was necessary to stop the enemy digimon. He hated it when the panther was right. Luckily, digivolving Panthermon into Mytholomon, the flying winged panther easily could fly him out from his window and back afterward without his folks noticing. 

At that time of night, it was no issue as no one could see Zachary in his dark jacket or Mytholomon being as black as night. They easily blended into the city lights and dark sky. 

And it was indeed an issue as they arrived at the docks, cause the digimon through the shroud of the fog-assumed digital field, was causing a bit of damage. It was near the area where the fish market was, where fishermen would sell and store their goods to sell-- along with the rest of the storage warehouses nearby. Even though no fishermen were around, a rather big fish was biting . 

Khrrrriiiiiiii! 


The shrill cry came from the docks as a sonic burst shook the place, shattering crates. The sonic attack soon came from a rather strange manta ray-type digimon: Mantaraymon

Seeing the digimon causing havoc below, Zachary and Mytholomon descended to the ground, where Zachary got off. "You good for this?" Zachary asked the large winged panther.

"Piece of crab-cake," the cat growled-- before his stomach suddenly began to growl as well. "Ugh... maybe I should have eaten something when you offered."

Zachary shook his head, knowing how Panthermon was not as big of a glutton as other digimon were. "I don't think no one will miss some sea-food from here if we stop this thing? I bet making fish sticks out of this guy would make a good meal too."

Mytholomon didn't answer but merely cast a powerful growl at Mantaray's direction. Stopping its rampage, the mantaray that floated slightly off the ground from its 'ability to fly' , turned and faced Mytholomon. With a kick off the ground, the panther flew out for his enemy, claws out and fangs ready to tear at the fish.

Leon was busy during all of the commotion, lurking inside one of the storage containers that he had managed to pick the lock off of.  He had noticed this one was an international shipment and figured it had to be a decent score of items he could possibly try to sell to the right buyers. Rustling through the opened crate, he couldn't help but grin. 


"Pay dirt," he said as he held up a few precious stones, grinning.  "They aren't perfect, but they'll go for a decent enough.  If I can find a guy with a refining operation, I can get a decent pay out of this."


Taking the small box and it's contents, he placed them inside his bag that was at his side.  It was at the moment, he heard something he hadn't heard before.  A loud cry of some sort of beast.  A cold sweat ran over him, as he looked over to his partner and saw she was on edge.  Reaching behind him, he drew out his knife.  He was ready to throw down a fight if he needed to, but he was more focused on the thought of escaping than fighting.  Making his way to the doors of the container, he slowly pushed it open to gaze outside.


Rias hopped her way down to be by his feet, growling lowly under her voice.  "There's danger.  Something big, and I don't think I can fight it like this..." she said, feeling upset at herself for feeling like she would fail to protect her master.  She peered out from behind the door to look around, before catching glimpse of the young boy with a digimon.  In her surprise, she forgot to keep her voice down and spoke up, almost sounding like a child.


"There's another digimon here!  And there's a human with it!" She cried out, before feeling a gloved hand hurridly cover her mouth.


He was certain that their cover had been blown, but he glanced over at who she was talking about anyhow.  Narrowing his eyes at him, he began to mull over the thought that maybe this kid could provide him with information on what was going on.  Strange things were happening and he needed answers.

The manataraymon was a wily one as it used the air to fly about, its wings flapping around. The shrieking of the fist was loud as it launched sonic attacks at Mytholomon. The winged-panther however was far swifter in the air. His wings gave him great speed along with his own natural agility. It dodged the sonic rings that were fired at him, trying to slow it down. However the rings would impact against the sides of buildings, causing some minor damage.

"Careful, Panth-- Mytholomon!" Zachary warned, watching from the ground as he clenched his digivice. "We can't let it do any more damage or people might notice!"

Mytholomon dodged another flying sonic blast in the air, it now flying around it. "I'm not playing tag with the thing, Zachary. He is not exactly letting me get close!" the flying cat shouted back. Mytholomon flew higher now, going above the manta ray digimon. "FIRE STORM!!" He roared, flapping his flaming wings and casting a giant gust of fire!

The swirling wind of fire easily caught hold of Mantaraymon, causing it to let out another shriek of pain. However as the flames became less intense-- Mantaraymon still was there and not that badly damaged. The mantaray charged at Mytholomon now in the air, its tail swishing forward and sparking electricity.

"Paralyzing Tail!" it shouted, and attempted to strike him with the tail.

Mytholomon flapped his wings and rose further up into the air. As Mantaraymon charged below it, he dove downward-- catching Mantaraymon with his claws and pressed his weight to it and causing them to plummit towards the ground.

The two landed with a crash on the pier, smashing a few boxes and scattering debris among the ships docked there. Running to get a better view, Zachary saw the two now glaring at one another, both looking a little banged up. Stopping, he assessed the situation. "Fire attacks ain't going to do the job here," he said as he knelt down and got out something from his backpack. From there he opened a binder he had-- revealing his digimon card collection. ON the first page, he grabbed a white-agumon card-- SNOWAGUMON from it and stood up. "So let's try a bit of ice, then."



Snapping the card between his fingers, he held it in his left, and the digivice in his right-- crossed before him in his hands. With his arms crossed, he brought them together and slashed the card through the digivice. The slash caused a flash of light where the card met, like static friction as sparks flew . The screen of the digivice lit up with light as he slashed it through. "Digi-Modify! Snowagumon's Frozen Wind Activate!!" he shouted, slashing the card through.

From where Mytholomon was now fighting, he felt the surge of energy from his partner. Even when Mytholomon, or even as Panthermon, were in battle alone, Zachary always lended a helping hand. The teamwork between the two were solid as ever, and the digimon trusted the tactical work of his partner. "Good call, Zachary..." Mytholomon growled, feeling the chill in the air as his data encourperated the card's data.

Mytholomon charged forward and let loose a roar again, this time casting a mighty gust of icy wind. "FROZEN WIND!!"

Just as the two charged at one another, Mytholomon's blast easily swept over Mantaraymon. It was a storm of ice that even froze a small section of the pier and water beside it. As it soon passed, it drifted away-- revealing a now solid block of ice with Mantaraymon encased inside it.

The sound of the fighting caught his attention as he came out from behind his cover.  He looked on in awe at what he said.  He heard the child's voice and began darting forward to get a better glimpse of the situation at hand.  He watched as he held a device somewhat similar in function to his and watched him swipe the card, causing a transformation with whom he could only guess was his partner.  "What the hell is going on?" he said, before he could even stop himself.  He returned the knife back to the sheath that was mounted to the belt at his back.  "This kid is going to get himself hurt is he stays around here too long..  And for that matter, so will I.  Hrrgg... " he stopped to think it over, if he should just escape or try to help the kid.

Rias was hopping along side of him.  Looking at up him, she furrowed her brow in frustration at him.  Puffing her cheeks up, she spoke up loudly, practically demanding for him to take action. "Hurry up and use the device on me!  I think I've regained some of my strength!" she shouted at him, her cheeks still puffed out in a frustrated matter.


Looking down at the device that hung from his belt, he instinctively reached down and pulled it from it's make shift harness.  Fumbling with the buttons a moment before he got a solid reaction out of the device.  "I think I got it!" he shouted as he held it out before him as it began to radiate with their syncing.  "I just hope this does something, or else I'm gonna scold you for making me look like a fool!" he said, almost jokingly as he could feel the energy surround them, almost flowing between them.  Swinging his arm to his side, turning to face Rias, he pointed the device at her.

She grinned as she felt the energy begin to flow through her.  "Yes, my strength is returning to me!" she chimed as her body began to glow, her size grew as she was engulfed in a ball of light.  "Digivolution!" She cheered, as she felt herself change from a Relemon and into a Viximon.  The ball of light grew in size until it faded away, but it gave enough light to give them away.  She stood before him now, resembling a small fox with small legs and ears, but with yellow fur still.  Her eyes fully open, narrowed as she was ready to try and help any way she could.

"I might not be much now, but don't be so quick to rule me out!" she growled as she stood in a defensive stance, watching as the other two did combat.  She was awaiting orders from Leon.

"Rias, hold back for now.  We'll provide what ever support we can.  Just wait for an opening," he ordered her, standing ready to move if they should have to change positions.  He tightened the bags restraints, in order to make sure he wouldn't lose the treasure they found tonight.  "I wonder what the kid did with that card.  I'll have to find out, won't I?  Don't you disappoint me, kid," he muttered under his breath, giving a narrowing glance towards him.  He wasn't trying to hide anymore.

Mantaraymon was now frozen solid before him, making him easy prey now for the giant flaming-winged panther as he looked at it. The frozen wind's chill faded, causing Mytholomon's data to return to normal. Every card used on a digimon didn't last long, offering a minor boost, change or alteration. A smirk came to Mytholomon's face, knowing this fight was as good as won. "Another day, manta ray," the panther growled as he jumped into the air over the frozen digimon. As he did, a shadowy glow came off his front paws, charging with power and a ominous energy. "DARKNESS CLAW!!" he roared, slashing his right paw down and releasing a ghastly black slash across the manta.

The slash easily cut through the ice and into the enemy digimon. The black slash of the panther's claw created three perfect slashes through the ice and digimon. Its body glowed briefly suddenly, burst apart into shower of data. As it drifted into the air, Mytholomon glowed with his own power, and the bits began to drift towards him. He downloaded Mantaraymon's data, adding to his strength and power. Zachary never understood the need, but he did so on his own accord. That of course was its own issue to answer another time.

As the battle finally ended and the fog of the digital field began to lift-- Zachary finally let out a sigh of relief as he walked over to Mytholomon's side. "Nice job, Mytholomon." he said as he reached over and patted the tiger's side. A soft growl escaped him, the closest thing to a cat's purr he could muster.

However, his eyes turned sharp now, as if the battle wasn't over. He sensed it. "Zachary, we are not alone here." he warned.

Zachary glanced around behind him, now on alert too. The fog and darkness made it difficult to see anything really. However, there was one thing they did see-- a silhouette of a person standing there. he was observing them, and probably had been since the fight started.

A sense of alarm rushed over Zachary as he realized someone could identify them, and even call the police. Not bothering to stick around and find out more, Zachary rushed to Mytholomon and hopped onto his back. "Let's get out of here!" He shouted.

Without needing to reply, once Zachary was on his back, the winged panther turned around and ran down the pier. With a mighty pounce and flap of his burning wings, the giant panther got airborne and flew into the night air. He continued to rise up as Zachary clung to his back. The two flew into the sky, leaving the mystery man wondering who they were.

"That was a close one...!" Zachary sighed but shouted so Mytholomon could hear him over the roar of the wind as he flew between the buildings of the city.

"Well, at least its just one person. But it felt strange. For a moment, I thought I sensed another digimon, but it could of just been him..." the panther said, a stretch of his maw showing how tired he was.

Zachary chuckled, seeing the yawn as they flew past the Empire State Building. "You're probably as tired as I am. Let's get back home before we both fall asleep flying."

With that, Mytholomon flew them back to the upper east side apartment complex where Zachary lived. Of course they were unaware of the nature of the man they ran from. But for now, they needed to get home and get well deserved rest.

Leon watched in amazement as he watched kid mount the large creature and fly off in a hurry.  Taking a moment to process everything he just witnessed, he looked down at Rias before speaking to her.  "So if I understand this correctly, those creatures came from the same world you came from, is that right?" he asked, taking a few steps towards where the boy had once stood, noticing a small slip of paper on the ground.


Rias nodded the best she could as she followed close behind him.  "That's right.  We're all very different but we're all Digimon though," she answered, almost sounding proud of herself for knowing more than he did.  


He knelt down to grasp the piece of paper between his fingers, turning it over with a tilt of his wrist.  He read the contents of the paper, seeing it was a receipt for some cards.  A small grin on his face formed as he read the name under his breath.  "Midtown Comics, huh?  I think we may have found a lead... and someone who may have some answers," he said as he slowly rose to his feet.  He decided that first thing tomorrow, he'd have to stake out the shop to see if he could find the kid, and get some answers from him.  He carefully placed the receipt in his pocket before pulling out his phone and began looking up the address and hours of the shop.


"I'll see you there, kid," he muttered as he began walking off, with Rias close behind him until he felt her leap up and land on his shoulder.

[Next Day]


He was wandering around the inside of the comic book shop, reading over a few comics that caught his attention.  He didn't want to make it obvious he was waiting for someone, so he made sure to look around and ask questions like he was an interested customer.  In fact, he even had a few comics set aside that he was going to purchase to help keep his cover.  

Rias stayed inside the messenger bag that Leon wore over his shoulder at resting at his waist.  She was on orders to stay alert in case any more of those creatures decided to show themselves.  She would poke her head out of the bag just enough to be able to look around, every so often.

The night was simple as Zachary hopped back into his room's window and Mytholomon followed-- de-digivolving back into Panthermon as he moved through the window. For that night, the two went back to sleep and get their much needed sleep. Lucky for him, it was a Saturday the next day as Zachary got all the sleep he needed and woke up refreshed. 

When morning came, Zachary felt rested-- after he slept way into 10 AM. He and Panthermon both woke up and slowly got ready for the day. By the time it was noon, Zachary had his backpack and stuff he wanted for the day for his trip. He wanted to go to Midtown Comics down the street, a short walk where he lived. It was there he could not only buy digimon cards but also find people to actually play the game with. He could use the break and actually just enjoy playing the game for a change. Naturally, Panthermon would be nearby, observing him from afar. 

Walking down the street, Zachary soon found the stairway up to the comic book store and walked up there. As he entered, he saw the shopkeeper, who immediately recognized him as a regular customer. "Hey there, Zachary," the store owner said. 

Zachary smiled at him and waved. "Hey! Any new cards you got today?" he asked.

Zachary didn't notice the man in the back as there were other people there as well, including other kids and adults playing the digimon card game. Despite the demographic for kids, it grew into a wide range of interests for people.

After buying a pack or two, Zachary sat himself down to the nearest empty table and took out his card binder, so he could see if he could start a game with the other people in the store. As for Panthermon, he was hiding somewhere. Hidden via his invisibility, he could easily sneak around the store and hide in the shadows without being spotted-- but the down side was he couldn't hide his presence from other digimon, able to sense him in a general vicinity.

He had just looked up from his comic the moment he heard a familiar voice.  Casting a glance towards the voice, he began watching the kids movements.  Deciding it was time to make a purchase, he made his way over to the sales counter with his choice of comics in hand.  Looking to strike up a conversation with the owner, he placed the comics on the counter.  "I'd like to buy these.  What game has got the kids attention now?" He asked the owner as he took out his wallet to pay for the comics.  After a bit of conversation he learned about something called a Digimon card game.  With that, his memory flashed to seeing the kid using a card with his device.  He cast a side glance over to the kid he saw the night before and nodded. 


"I see.  Thanks.  I think I may hang around a bit longer and look at some more stuff.  Maybe get an idea of what to buy next time when I come back," he said as he paid for the comics and took the bag.  He began making his way towards the card tables, keeping an eye on his target.  He decided to take the approach of someone interested in learning about the game and took a seat across from him.


"I hope you don't mind me taking a seat here.  And if you wouldn't mind, could you teach me a  bit about this game?  It looks rather interesting," he said as a slid the receipt the kid dropped the night before across the table, with a small note written on it.  The note said, Relax.  I'm here to talk.  No need to make a scene.  He gave the kid a soft smile, setting his bag of comics on the table as well.  


"My name is Leon.  And yours?" he asked gently, trying to let the kid know that he wasn't going to try to harm him in any way.

During the conversation, Rias poked her head out of the bag some, just enough to get the young lads attention.  She still had the bags flap resting on top of her head as she looked at him.  "He didn't come alone," she whispered to Leon from the bag she was sitting it.

Having sat down, he opened his card binder and got ready to build a deck to play with the other people in the store. If nothing else, he took this time to open his new pack of cards-- and was pleased with what he found. A limited edition Triceramon, Bancholeomon and even Examon. As he added them to the binder, a man sat across from him all of a sudden. He knew he shouldn't of been talking to strangers, and he still kept his guard up-- but the fact he was in a place with alot of people and of course the shop keeper knew him-- if something went wrong he could call for help. Still the guy seemed geuninly nice. 

Sensing his anxiety, Panthermon crouched in his hiding place near the back, hidden by the shadow of a table and boxes nearby. 'Shall i stop him?' Panthermon asked through their telepathic link. 

Zachary didn't answer but then the note he passed, scribbled on his own receipt, and it made him gasp. He was the man from the docks he had seen. And to add to his surprise, he saw the little fox fluff ball peek out from his bag. he was a digimon tamer too. 

"Um.. Name's Zachary. Nice to meet you," he said, reaching to shake his hand in a friendly gesture. While he still felt nervous about him, the fact he was another tamer was somewhat comforting as he shared the same secret. Only difference between them was that Panthermon was not visible to anyone else, as any jungle cat would be careful to not be spotted. 

Readjusting himself in his seat, Zachary let out a breath and tried to get a grasp of what the man wanted to talk about. He was a good deal older than he was. Still, in a comic book shop, you could see people of all ages there. "So um... what is it you wanted to know exactly?" he said, keeping calm. The fact Panthermon or anyone could help him made things a bit easier. At least he could hear him out.

Leon reached out his hand and shook his hand, giving a reassuring smile to the lad.  "Nice to meet you, Zachary," he said as he brought his hand back and leaned on the table slightly.  He readjusted himself in the seat and pointed to the cards that were on the table.  "Now that I'm sure we're on the same page, I have some questions about this... Digimon stuff.  I know a few things my partner has told me about.  Maybe you could clue me in one some stuff that's been going on," he said as he referred to the cards that he was looking at.  He would normally track a target for information, but he figured given the situation, being upfront would probably be the better approach to gain his trust.


Rias looked up at Zachary before she spoke, trying to remain hidden inside the bag. She gave him a slightly sly and curious smile from inside the bag. "It's nice to meet you," she whispered from the bag.  "My name is Rias."  She disappeared back inside the bag when she heard someone was about to walk past them.


Leon adjusted the flap on his bag, this time securing it so it wouldn't open by accident.  "I'm sorry to be so forward about this, and it's usually not my style.  But, I don't have many with a similar... interest that I could discuss this with.  I hope you can understand and don't mind teaching me a bit?" He was keeping up the vague act since they were in a public place.  The cards had his interest as he kept a glance at them, he was curious if he used them the way Zachary did, if it would have any sort of effect.  He was going to decide his actions based on how this conversation was going to progress.  If things were going to prove fruitless, then he would resort to more drastic measures.  He needed information and this kid was his first real lead on the subject.

While Panthermon in the shadows still didn't feel good about these strangers, Zachary could understand the same reason for secrecy. Despite the age difference, it was a legit request to learn how to use the cards the same way. He didn't know many other tamers so he didn't know some tamers could use modify cards and others who didn't. Getting a better disposition of this stranger and his little mini digimon in his bag, he took a deep breath. "Sure I can help, I think" he said. 

'If he is trouble, just say the word and I will step in," Panthermon said in telepathy, making sure Zachary knew he was very close. 

"My partner is around here, but he wont be coming out. He is a bit too big," Zachary explained as he opened his card binder. With that, he pointed to the collection of cards he had, including the commons, rares, super and ultra rares he had. Impressive ones like Banchioleomon and Omnimon. 

With another breath he put his backpack aside next to his chair. "Alright, its actually quite simple for anyone. Clearly you have a digimon" Zachary said bluntly. For the sake of his conversation, he kept his words soft but spoke clearly. "Naturally alone they can only do so much, but certain tamers with the right device can use cards." Reaching into his pocket, he took out his blue and silver D-Power, showing it and the card reader. " You use cards for certain situations. Your digimon would have a set power and attacks-- but you can combine different cards of other digimon to use other attacks, or modify cards to boost and enhanse your digimon's natural powers. You with me so far?" Zachary asked.

He watched carefully as he listened to him as he began explaining it.  "I see," he said, leaning slightly on the table to so he could get a good view.  "So within theory, they could be used to say, take down a foe that could be larger than the Digimon itself, correct?" he asked, remembering the night before.  "And then within theory, there is a chance I could use one of these cards to help my Digimon if they needed that extra boost in a fight, right?"  He asked as he glanced over the cards that were in sight.  Normally, he wouldn't find much interest in a card game except the few that he actually played, but they didn't seem to be as popular as Digimon was.


Rias was sitting there silently as she paid close attention, wanting to learn just as much as Leon did.  After watching the boy for a bit, her stomach started to growl, and it was a bit loud for a bag to contain.  Hearing her stomach growl, she dove back inside the bag to hide in her shame. "Sorry... " she squeaked as she hid herself in the bag.  "I think I'm a bit hungry..."

He gave a small grin and nodded.  "Sorry about her.  She tends to eat a lot," he said, trying to excuse his partner and was hoping no one else in the shop heard the bag growl in hunger.  He tried to cover the fact that it came from their table in case anyone else heard and looked for the source.

"It depends on the digimon card you use and the partner," he explained and took out some cards. He put a rookie Snowagumon card he had and placed it on the table. "Let's say you have a Snowagumon digimon partner, and you want to use cards to power it up. " WIth that, he took out his Omnimon card and placed it alongside the first one. "I use Omnimon to give it the same kind of attack, even gear he might have. The only thing is no matter if you use a card of a stronger digimon, it won't change the digimon's core power. It won't make him strong as a mega level, but give him an edge via the type of attribute attack and form it gives. Still it helps."

At that time, he also reached for another card. Omnimon was good and he loved it but he never had the chance to use it yet. "Certain digimon cards work well with certain partners, depends on the type you have. But these will always help," he said as he put out another power-plug in card and a Recharge card. "Cards like these actually augment your digimon's strength, attributes and abilities you can use in battle. These have more value in a tight spot. But as i said, in the end it will depend on the situation and the type of partner you have."

Zachary pocketed a few of the cards into his pocket but began to pack up his new cards, as well as the others in his binder. "Anyway, that is the basic version of it. If you buy some here you can probably get some that works. It doesn't even have to be super rare or anything. For real tamers, any card can be an asset." he said, smiling to his 'new friend'. "Is there anything else I can help you with?" he said, putting the cards into his bag below the table.

Picking up the messenger bag that held his partner, he sat it down on the floor under the table.  He did this so that the people around wouldn't notice how the bag would move some.  This was a sign for Rias to work her magic as his partner in crime.  "I see," he said as he readjusted himself.  "I may have to see that in action again sometime."


Rias popped her head out of the bag, and grinned mischievously as she eyed the bag that Zachary sat under the table.  She snuck out of the bag and made her way towards the backpack and began to rustle through the bag, grabbing the binder with her teeth.  Feeling accomplished, she carefully trotted back to the messenger bag and hid inside. Trying to stifle a mischievous giggle, she pulled the flap back over herself to conceal herself and what she did.  "Leon!  Let's go get some food!" she cried out from inside the bag.

"Alright, alright.  I'm sorry, but it looks like I need to get her some food," he said as he pulled out a small business card that had his phone number.  Setting the card down on the table in front of him, it listed him as an Independent Rogue.  He gathered his bag of comics and the messenger bag, and brought the strap over his shoulder and got up to leave.  Giving Zachary a farewell wave, he spoke to him as he began to leave, "I'll see you around.  Give me a call if you should help with anything or got a job for me."  Leon made his way out of the comic shop now, he made his way towards an apartment complex that he used to house what was his office.

Zachary blinked as the man named Leon took his time and studied what he had taught him. There was a pause that Zachary, nor Panthermon saw as the cat was off, having to move before being discovered hidden in the shop. Still, the man rose and left his card. "Um... it was nice to meet you, "  he said and shook his hand as he left.

He watched as the man left with his bag, containing the strange fox digimon. He felt a bit unease by the fact of whom he had met, but he had no reason to be too upset either. Taking his backpack up, he swung it over his shoulder. He didn't notice it felt a touch lighter than before as he moved to the desk again of the cash register. "I'll buy another pack please." Zachary requested.

As the shopkeeper gave him a few more packs-- one special one, and a few regular ones. Pocketing them, he decided he would open them up later.

Panthermon, meet me in the small park outside of the card shop okay? Zachary projected his thoughts to, knowing the panther would meet him there.

Walking down the stairs and back to the street, Zachary made his way towards the small corner park. It was small with a few trees and small hills, like an oasis in the large concrete city. After running through a gap in traffic and entering the park, Zachary sat himself down on one of the park benches. No one was around, or rather the only people around was on the other side of the gates that circled the park. With the general location clear, a blur of blackness appeared behind the bench, and out came out Panthermon. The black cat gently stepped out from behind it and Zachary and sat down near him. "Well, it is always nice to meet a new tamer right? Despite him being so much older." The panther said, letting out a wide yawn of his maw and showing his teeth.

Zachary shrugged as he still had the man's card. "Yeah true, but that guy seemed a bit odd to me for some reason," Zachary said as he ripped the tops to the cards he just got. As he began to view what he got, he couldn't help but wonder why that guy had been so cryptic and even strange in his approach. Still, there was no way of knowing. For now he just tried to rest up as Panthermon laid down on the grass beside him as Zachary counted his new cards.

He had no clue just what happened, or the fact his cards were gone... yet.
